It links to my phone when in the car via bluetooth and sends its data to a central web application in the cloud. The data it records is modest - GPS trail, miles traveled, MPG, gas cost, any engine issues. You can access all the data from a web site or the phone. I'll have a complete log of all my trips and gas used plus a record of any trouble codes experienced. Not nearly the wealth of data I've seen from some of the adapter and tablet apps but for the basics its easy and automatic. Really liking it so far.
