He had just received the cmax on Monday and did a crash course to show us the vehicle <giggle>. I think we learned him a few things. Anyway, we found in the manual how to show the tach reading, but my question is where do I go to see the oil pressure and temp of my car and the battery? I don't feel that way but my Hunny was a Chevy guy for yrs and just recently got a dodge. And guess what? He loves it. He is happy I found a car I love that gets great gas mileage but he doesn't like the fact he cannot work on them much anymore. Heck, even my 03 Tahoe there is not much he work on. I am excited beyond belief to finally say YES, the cmax is the car I want. I have been to many dealers and drove many different vehicles. StoBro2 Posted November 19, 2012 Report Share Posted November 19, 2012 I usually have MyView in the left screen, and I have it configured to show engine RPM (tachometer) and coolant temperature along with battery function (charging/discharging/state of charge/regenerative braking). As far as I know, the oil pressure is only displayed as a warning light if it's too low. Come to think of it, I can't remember the last car I had that had an oil pressure gauge. The last car I had was a BMW wagon that didn't even have a coolant temperature gauge. In its place it had an almost-useless instant fuel economy gauge. If there was a gauge showing the oil pressure, it would be constantly be going to zero every time the engine shut off with the car in EV mode. valkraider Posted December 6, 2012 Report Share Posted December 6, 2012 I think oil pressure stays up even when the combustion engine shuts off. That's how the engine can start and stop on demand without destroying itself. As long as the car is "on" the oil pressure is up and ready for the engine to kick in any time... Some of the hybrid designs use electric oil pumps, and some use a method where the electric starter spins the motor up before spark is applied and allows oil pressure to ramp up just before the engine fires under pressure.
