rjam
To remove the engine to replace rear crankshaft seal do they unbolt the body and lower the frame etc.?Thanks!!
Sparrow
I don't know if they would need to remove the entire engine to replace the seal but if 'they' do then they would drop out the front suspension and cradle with the drivetrain attached. The subframe would stay attached to the body. Edited May 15, 2015 by Sparrow
rjam
They removed the transmission and the engine. I was curious how the took it out. Thanks for the quick post!
ptjones
Rich FORD texted a picture of my ICE/ Trans sitting in a cradle under my car with car on lift. It looks like front suspension is still on car. Paul Edited May 16, 2015 by ptjones obob, jdbob and Bill-N

Wonder what it iscosting Ford.I heard that it was $6K for the trans, so i'm telling everyone not to let their warranty run out. rjam
Thanks for the photo. Got the car back after rear main seal replaced. No problems with it at all was worried about rattles and squeaks after this major repair. Dealer did a great job!

I ask to keep an eye out for this being something others and myself shouldn't be surprise happening in the future. rjam
Hi. The car is a C-Max 2013 SEL with 48,000 miles. I drive 50% town 50% freeway never over 65. Glad my dealer found the bad seal after an oil change. Good reason to have a good dealership do the maintenance. They found seepage and added dye. FORD COVERED IT 100% under the drivetrain warranty and they provided me with a rental. Great service! obob
djc
Thanks for the engine / trans photo and info.Did you happen to notice where the upper engine mount is on the engine? (It may be the source of a vibration I and others hear under part load and cold temps.)

duxracer
How do you pull a transmission out of AC Max do you have to pull the engine with it or can you just drop the transmission on its own
SnowStorm
They both drop out the bottom, then you remove the transmission - (at least I've never heard of doing it any other way). ptjones and Bill-N
