Telerisk
Standing in my garage when my wife pulls up into the driveway and turns off the car; heard something squeaking as something was powering off. Popped the hood; Starting car (w/AC On)...turned it off; squeak coming from Radiator Fan Motor. You can actually turn fan by hand and hear the squeak. Did a google search; found nothing regarding C-Max with this issue, but did find a 2016 Ford F-150 Forum dedicated to this same issue; Radiator Fan Motor squeaks when it powering off. Would seem the same fan Motor on the 2016 F-150 may well be the same in the 2016 C-Max. Owners of the F-150 with this issue describe having the Fan Motor replaced 3 and 4 time with the same Squeak. The last few entries in that forum note; Ford finally changed the Fan Motor part Number and the issue was resolved; sounds like a new Motor ...perhaps from a different vendor. No one ever mentioned in the F-150 how difficult/easy it was to replace the Radiator Fan Motor. As I look at my 2016 Radiator Fan Motor there is no way it is replaced from the Top....there is simply no clearance and the top support Brace is molded Plastic and is not removal. The only way may be to replace it from underneath. As I look there, I see little room; I see a radiator hose that may be required to be removed. Has anyone else heard this squeak? Has anyone had the Radiator Fan replaced? If so, how was it replaced....from underneath? Was it a lot of tear out if known? And, is the New Radiator Fan Motor no longer squeaking? My vehicle has 2,200 Miles on it and I suspect the squeak was present pretty much from when the car was driven off the dealers lot....just that I never heard it sitting inside Vehicle. I hate to have a new Vehicle torn down sometimes things just don't go back to the way it was from the factory. Responses are appreciated..... joshg678
Take it to a dealer and tell them it squeaks when shitting down. If it's that new that it should be replaced under warranty
Telerisk
Guess it ill be to the dealer in the near future. The radaitor fan Motor obvious is the same one Ford put on its 2015 F-150 Truck that many owners experienced this exact same issue.......some of those owners reported having the radiator motor replaced several times before getting one that did not squeak on Power On and spin down. The motor does not squeak once its a normal speed.......dang; hate the thought of getting it replaced.....maybe teardown isn't as bad as I think it might be.
