Disable Active Noise Cancellation

Recommended Posts

The ANC on my 2013 C-Max hybrid has recently gone nuts. It is putting out noise (loud low end drone) when no engine noise exists. I confirmed this by pulling the fuse. Drone goes away. Unfortunately, so does the stereo. (This is a non Sony 6 speaker stereo). My Ford dealer says they have never heard of such a thing. The car is out of warranty and I don't want to spend several hundred dollars in labor while the technicians play with everything. Disabling the mics in the headliner as other threads suggest seems like a mess as short of dropping the whole thing (no clue here) there's no access. I would happily do without the ANC if I could power up the amp from another source.

Can anyone suggest how this might be done? I have seen nothing that tells me where the thing is in the first place.

Any other suggestions?

It looks like you have done some nice work figuring out things.

I use google to search this site, not this site's search.

I found the following link with a google search  "fordcmaxhybridforum active noise cancel"

Maybe this will help

as far as " My Ford dealer says they have never heard of such a thing"  this forum is a better source of information for some things.

Thanks, obob. This solved the problem and it was easy to implement given the detail in your link. :)  I couldn't find that thread as a newbie here. Maybe this post will clarify things for others as the sound I was having was so annoying as to make a good car bad.

Thanks again.

I am glad it worked out.

Wizzurp's post really hits the nail on the head.
