  1. You will find an extensive discussion in the topic titled "2014-2017 C-Max Energi 3G to 4G modem update." There is a discussion on page 16 about the correct codes to be programmed into the car to enable lock, unlock, and remote start. The troubleshoot involves using a computer program called FORScan and an associated piece of hardware. I have used FORScan to download data from my car, but not to set or alter anything. There is a particular six-digit code that appears to govern the ability to utilize lock, unlock, and remote start. You don't say in your post what your vehicle is, but I suppose you wouldn't be posting here if it wasn't a C-Max. I have a 2017 C-Max Energi with Sync 3. I had the upgrade to the 4G model done in January and my experience has been very similar to yours with the activation delay, data trickling in, etc. It is very apparent to those of us who have been in the conversation in the other topic that Ford dropped the ball on its side with respect to the FordPass app. However, in my case, nearly all of the features are working now, so I am little bit surprised that you say that go times are not functional. I have not tested that feature on my car, but it appears to be working for others. Repost your question in the other forum and folks there will help you. Hope this helps.

  2. Update: I called my local Ford Dealer today and explained to them the problem I am having with the new 4G modem. They are going to reprogram it. I have an appointment set on Wednesday the 13th. On a side note, I was told that the modem includes a 2 year warranty, so no cost to me for the servicing that will be done. I was under the impression that it included a 1 year warranty... Will keep you guys posted when I get back on Wednesday.

  3. Continuing your analogy--you prepaid the candy shop for a Twix but they only gave you half of it. The candy man owes you the rest of your Twix. This DIY/Forscan route is great for those of us who have decided to accept some risk in exchange for not having to pay $300+ to a dealership. In your case, you paid the money to Ford. Make 'em earn it!

  4. I think you got it in a nutshell. (jokingly) I feel like a kid at a closed candy shop . There's a gumball machine that has 99 of my favorite flavor and 1 that isn't. Should I gamble my quarter or wait till the shop opens and ask for what I want. I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow and request to have the modem re-programmed as you phrased it. It's the sensible thing to do, in my opinion. I'll let you know what they say.

  5. Transmissions: Consumer Reports gathers repair data from owners. One of the trouble areas they gather data on is "major transmission". Results reported by Ford C-max owners, by model year: 2013 Average 2014 Much worse than average 2015 -17 Much better than average So the owner data here does not suggest that a 2013 will have major transmission failure. Prius V: When I was looking for a hybrid in 2015 I drove both the Cmax and a Prius V. The Cmax was faster and handled better. It felt roomier because of the headroom (I also drove a Fusion hybrid, which was harder to get into and felt claustrophobic after the C-max). So the C-max was my choice.
