  1. Well, the dealer pumped the gas for me so I highly doubt they topped it off. I'm going to get as close as I can without going over 13 gallons.
  2. I don't know what you're talking about... I've never been to prison before... :sing_rain:
  3. My trip odometer says I've burned through 11.34 gallons, which I'm assuming is 3/4 gallon low because of my 37 mile romp before resetting the trip odometer (37/49 = 0.75), so I'm assuming I've burned through 12.09 gallons. Going with an absolute top value of 13 gallons, that means I have 0.9 gallons left which is good for another 44 miles! I just ran out for a short trip and I'm at 554 miles for this trip odometer now... I'm really nervous about running out of gas, the fuel indicator is red!!!
  4. 150 miles from my previous picture & earned over a combined mileage of about 450 miles, here is another picture of a "50 mpg trip". This picture was my trip to work this morning, I had to drop my girlfriend off at her job too so there is a 10 mile "round trip" followed by a 13 mile trek to my job.
  5. My car is virtually silent in EV mode! Right after I got the car I intentionally tried to sneak up on a friend as a joke, but he heard my tires rolling on the ground. (anyone ever see the episode of the office where Andy sneaks up on Dwight in his Prius? Lol!) Actually today when I got home from work (it's 97 here today...) the fan was on and making a good deal of noise when I pulled into the garage. Maybe that's what you hear?
  6. Oh wow, that's a great idea! I momentarily thought of honking but I didn't want to kill her...
  7. So I was driving through the parking lot of my apartment complex this morning and there was a little old lady walking down the parking lot dead center so there was no way to get around her without being a jerk. I slowly came up behind her and since I was in EV mode she never heard me, she had no idea I was there! I crept behind her for what felt like several minutes as she made her way down the parking lot until she finally veered to the side, I felt I could safely pass her at that point and went for it. Her reaction was shock (and a little anger I think) when I pulled up beside her and passed her! I felt bad but what can you do?!
  8. I agree, I think we'll have several new 700 mile club members. I'm at 49.2 mpg on my first tank of gas, drove 37 miles before resetting the trip odometers (dealer didn't reset them), I'm at 548 miles right now and the miles to empty just reset from 30 to 73. Assuming I actually don't run out of gas at 30 miles, that will total 658 miles on the very first tank of gas! Once the car breaks in, (The car has 625 miles total!) I see a possibility if the conditions are right of hitting 700.
  9. Weird thing happened today on my ride home. I'm at 548 miles on the trip odometer and the miles to empty was down to 30, this is consistent with what I've been reporting that I'll end up around 580 miles. THEN, I checked again after I got home and it had reset to 73 miles to empty! Looks like I may get my 600 mile tank on my very first tank after all! (assuming its right and I don't run out of gas in 30 miles...)
  10. Riddley, I appreciate being thrown in with the 600 mile CMax Club but I haven't made it there yet, I only have 540 miles on the car! I didn't think to reset the trip odometers at the dealer when I picked up the car, by the time I did reset them I had driven 37 miles, so while technically I will have driven over 600 miles on my first tank of gas the trip odometer will likely only read in the 580's... I am averaging 49 mpg, I was over 50 mpg for a while but it's rained pretty hard here the past several days and I haven't been getting as good mileage.
  11. Lol! Ok then I guess the forum has spoken, I'll have to go for 600 miles on my second full tank. I'll save the 2nd trip odometer for 1,000 miles and see if I can beat your 21.95 gallon mark.
  12. I was thinking about it and I want a ruling from the group, if I fill up and then top 600 miles in under 13 gallons of gas would that count as a 600 mile tank? I'm averaging about 49 mpg so far so that would be easy! :dogwalk:
  13. Well, I'm going to hit 600 miles on my very first tank of gas but unfortunately it looks like the 37 or so miles I drove before resetting my trip gauges is going to prevent them from showing 600, I'll probably end up in the 580's... I thought I might still of been able to pull off 600 miles on the trip gauge but its been raining a lot here in NJ lately and my mileage has been down a little this past week. Oh well, as long as it doesn't get too hot here I should be able to officially get a 600 mile tank on my second tank.
  14. I went back and forth between the C-Max SE & SEL before settling on the SE because I did not want the leather seats. (had them before, HATED them!) The biggest draw of the SEL for me was the rear view camera, and I figured with the SE I could get an aftermarket rear view camera. I'm wondering, has anyone has tried adding one to the SE yet? If so, were you able to use the 8" touch screen? Is the proper cable harness installed despite the camera not being there? I'd love to mimic the real thing if possible! Thanks!
  15. One other thing I just thought of, I'd like to be able to force the car to stay in EV mode or force it to run the ICE to recharge the battery. If I know there is a section coming up that I can go far in EV but need more juice in the battery to do that, I can charge up the battery by forcing the ICE to run. (sometimes you can trigger this but it depends on traffic conditions and the section of road you're on) Other times I'm not in a rush but accidentally push the gas a little too much and kicks the ICE on even though I didn't want or need the acceleration.
  16. Most likely no, assuming next time I'm looking for a car there is a hybrid / electric vehicle out there that can drive like the C-Max. I've looked at the Prius before and even went as far as test driving one, but I didn't like how it drove, it's just too much of a compromise for me.
  17. Salsaguy, that's a great question if they reset the lifetime average before they do their test drives. If they got 34 mpg going 75 mph on a freeway how did their average come in lower at 32 mpg? I know when I got my car the lifetime average was 19.8 mpg! (two weeks and 400+ miles later my lifetime average is up to 42.8 mpg and my trip gauge is settling in around 49 mpg)
  18. I'm at roughly 49 mpg for my very first tank of gas, once the car breaks in assuming the weather is still decent I think I can easily top 50 mpg. Car and Driver got 31 mpg combined for the Prius V and 32 mpg for the C-Max, so I guess it really just is a combination of the weather, road conditions, and how you drive it. http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-toyota-prius-v-test-review http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2013-ford-c-max-hybrid-test-review
  19. I spent a lot of time comparing & contrasting the different options of the different models before I purchased my car. I also considered purchasing the Focus which is similar but comes with different 'packages' before settling on my car. It may be a surprise to some but I never considered the Prius, the competition was always between the C-Max and the Focus. I am extremely happy with my C-Max SE, but here are a few things I would have changed: - option to not have leather seats in the SEL (I've had leather seats before and I hated them, I would have gone with this model if not for that) - option for a rear view camera in the SE (I almost went with the SEL for this feature, but I didn't want the leather seats, I figured I could get an aftermarket rear view camera) - more options for the right side & center screens, they essentially do the same thing and there aren't that many different options when you tire of the leaves and didn't get the navigation - better rear view mirror, for such a well built high tech car it stands out as exceeding low tech and cheap looking - when you set the lights to automatic they do not turn on when it rains, so I have to turn them on manually, but since I keep them in automatic I've almost forgot to turn them off a few times... - better floor mats or another way to better protect the driver's left side foot rest, I can see that getting beat up real fast... - there isn't a whole lot of storage up front, and what is there is kind of awkward to store everyday items in (ie: the "storage" below the floor in the back rows is kind of silly and I bet a lot of people don't even know it's there!) - LED head lights and tail lights, this thing is a hybrid right? Even with these 'complaints' I'd buy this car again, I absolutely love it!
  20. Does anyone know how miles to empty is calculated? Does it use the lifetime average?
  21. Hey guys, I'm surprised to see how many people trust gas pumps over their car. I'm not saying the car is perfect, but gas station pumps are notorious for telling you they are giving you more gas then they are so that the station can charge you more! Case in point, I live in NJ where you cannot pump your own gas. When I was in high school I worked at a local gas station and during my two years there they got busted for just that, and if I remember right he got a $500 fine. Granted gas was 99 cents a gallon for regular when I worked there, but if he's off a quarter gallon for every ten gallons pumped he'd make that fine up after 20,000 gallons, which again its been a while but I think we did in a week to 10 days. Maybe its different now or in other states, but that fine just doesn't seem like much of a deterrent.
  22. I know my car had 40.2 miles on it when I drove it off the lot of the dealer, I guess I could take a picture of the paperwork but I'd rather see 600 on the trip gauge!
  23. I don't know the build date, do you know how to tell? What type of driving do you do typically? My commute to work is about 5 miles of 35-40 mph zones and 8 miles of 50-55 mph zones. I don't drive much on the freeways, maybe 25 miles combined from all my trips at 65-70 mph. The trips where I was on the freeway were my worst trips, I think in the 40 mpg range.
