  1. Oh! I misunderstood. Alright then, no, the full map can't be displayed. I've been content with the Next Turn information.
  2. I don't mean for this to come off the wrong way, but... uhm... so can we.
  3. Are you involved with the development of SYNC Destinations, or can you get in touch with people who are? I ask because, if so, please make the Vehicle Finder feature not require clicking on "Save this location" first. That's silly. The location should be saved automatically, as soon as my phone loses bluetooth connectivity with my car. I mean, right?
  4. Any idea how much those rear window pieces might cost? I bet others are interested in the hood seals too, so I might as well ask about those too. But personally, it's the rear aero effects I like, partly because I guess they'll probably help, but mostly because I just plain like 'em. They look cool. :)
  5. Oh, I should have mentioned... ^ That only works if you've already been to syncmyride.com and linked your phone number to your account, which I forget how to do (because it was awhile ago) but I don't remember it being anything less than straight forward. Once that's set up, it's also important that your phone be in the car and paired with the stereo. THEN, pull the stalk, say "Services," etc.
  6. Go to mapquest.com, search for something, when that something is on the screen, click "Send" in the upper right, select Car, select Sync, enter your phone number, click Send. It's that easy. There's one extra step if what you searched for returns multiple results. In that case, on the same screen where you enter your phone number, you'll also select WHICH of the found results you want to send. I just did it last night, so I can confirm it still works. :)
  7. Well that's just silly. Come on, Ford! Because of this, I had to stop at the nearest gas station, and over-pay for crappy generic fluid (because I couldn't go without, not in the weather that day) instead of going to an auto parts store and paying a fair price for Rain-X brand fluid. This isn't a particularly awful problem (but being far from a gas station would've been though!) but it still sucks. I guess I might have to consider carrying a small (well sealed!) bottle of spare fluid in the car somewhere. :sigh: Ridiculous.
  8. I just had the same thing happen to me. The front nozzles went dry, but the back ones still had a few shots left in them. I assume this is because the hose which leads from the shared tank up front to the rear nozzles is necessarily a LOT longer than the hose to the front ones, so even after the tank runs dry, there's still plenty left in the line for a few more squirts. That aside, I'm as shocked and appalled as you are to learn that there's no "Low Washer Fluid" indicator on our cars. WTH, Ford?
  9. I just ran out of washer fluid the other day, without any notification whatsoever from the vehicle that I was running low. One pull of the stalk, and washer fluid sprayed with gusto. Another pull, it was weak. Two or three more pulls, and nothing. Not a drop. I was never notified the fluid was low prior to this, nor was I notified it was empty after this (not that I really needed to be, as it was pretty obvious now, but if I had received a warning I was low, I never would've let myself run out!) Now, this can only mean one of two things.... - Either, my "low washer fluid" sensor doesn't work, and so I should get that fixed. - Or, this car just doesn't have one, which seems ridiculous. Does anyone know for sure?
  10. Just to clarify, instructions are not what's being sent. Just the address is. Now that you realize that, you might now understand the appeal, but if not, for me, the appeal is much quicker entry. If, for example, I know now, at my desk, that I'm going out to dinner tonight with some friends at a restaurant I've never been to, I might have the foresight to search MapQuest right now for that restaurant's address. When I get in the car later, I can easily pull the Voice trigger and say, "Services." That's it. That's all I have to do, and the car will (in a few seconds) respond, "New address received; would you like to set this as your destination?" When I say, "Yes," the car just imports the address, but then it calculates the route, which may or may not be the same as the route MapQuest would've chosen. :) So, yeah, it's pretty neat. What I haven't done yet (but keep meaning to do) is see if I can use that feature to save to the car's Favorites and use names that contain lowercase letters. I hate that since the last MFT update, that's become impossible (at least, in car) (but probably though MapQuest too) (though I won't really know until I try).
  11. I'm not sure "POI > Category" has ever worked for me, and "POI > Name" rarely (but sometimes!) does. What I do is use my phone to learn the address, and then say "Navigation > Destination > Address". I find that to be the most reliable commands. Even that doesn't work every time, but certainly most times. If I have trouble with the address, "Spell City" or "Spell Street" usually does the trick. I really wish the system would detect the presence of a passenger (using the same weight sensor I'm sure is already used for passenger airbag enabling/disabling) and just allow keyboard entry when a passenger is in the car. I understand and respect why it's disabled for the driver, but if I have someone else in the car, the system should just assume they're the ones using it! Oh well...
  12. I'd love to know more about this! Does anyone know if an estimated release date has been made public?
  13. It bothers me that Sync with MFT doesn't support Applink - something I only looked into and learned recently - so if that counts as a Sync complaint, then there it is. But other than that, Sync has never bothered me. I love it. In fact, Sync is one of the reasons I bought this car over a Camry Hybrid. Well, Sync and considerably more storage, so not really a fair fight, but still. It's the nicest music/nav system I've ever used.
  14. T-Mobile, for example, also offers unlimited data. If using up a limited data allotment is a concern for some, that's understandable (and unfortunate), but please realize, it's not an issue everyone has. Then again, if this is accurate... ...perhaps it's up to us, with unlimited plans, to remember what a minority we're in. I'm pretty sure neither Verizon nor AT&T offer that, and it seems a lot more people are with them, so Internet streaming music just isn't a particularly good option for most people.
  15. You're right, ScubaDad; Sirius sounds awful in the CMax. But I don't think it's the noise cancellation. If it were the noise cancellation, FM and MP3s would also sound terrible, yet neither of them do. So it must be that Sirius's signal is just garbage. That said, I still pay for Sirius anyway, because I can't be bothered choosing what music to listen to. I honestly have no idea what's out there, or really even what I like. I enjoy flipping channels, but I hate commercials. So Sirius works for that. It doesn't sound nearly as good as it should, but it sounds alright enough. That said, I'd never pay $550 for a lifetime subscription, because I know that I really should switch to Pandora, or Slacker, or basically anything else which selects music for me, because it'll all sound better. Some day I'll do that. For now, Sirius is easier. And they know it, too! They know they're easier, so they can get away with over-charging and under-delivering. But oh well, because at the end of the day, it really IS easier, and I'm lazy.
  16. I used to get 45mpg in Denver, in the summer. Now that it's been single-digit temps at most and negative at worst, for what feels like at least a month, I'm seeing 38mpg average. Kinda sucks. Then I remember my last car got 21mpg, and I feel better again. ;)
  17. How can you affect the battery level? I mean, what types of behavior, input, etc? It seems to me the battery charges when it wants, and depletes when it wants. I don't know how to encourage one or the other.
  18. Personally, I hate the blind spot mirrors; they cut drastically into the overall size of the main mirrors. And since the main mirrors (in any car) can be set to eliminate blind spots, I find these extra mirrors highly distracting. I wish they had been an option, so I could've opted against them.
  19. If you create favorites at MapQuest with names that have lowercase letters, do the lowercase letters sync to the car? I absolutely hate that ever since the latest MFT upgrade, it's impossible to use lowercase letters while naming favorites. I may need create a MapQuest account just for this.
  20. I've never purchased an extended warranty before, but it seems that Ford's ESP is pretty well regarded all around the Internet, so I finally picked one up last night. Our car has 11,595 miles on it, and I think the prices go up after 12k, so I figured it was now or never. I went to Flood Ford's website, as they were a few dollars cheaper than A&K. I mean, all things being equal, why pay $1210 when you can pay $1180, right? That was for the PremiumCare 5yr/100k miles, $50 deductible, enhanced rental. Our loan is for 5 years, and if history is any guide, we'll likely sell the car right after we pay it off (because that just seems to be our track record with previous vehicles; it might not be great, but it's us). So, yeah, 5 year coverage oughta' do it. Also, look at that odometer reading, on a car we purchased in June. We're gonna need all of those 100k miles. :) Then, my thinking on the "enhanced rental" over the "first day rental" was this: First of all, we needed at least A rental option, because this is our only car, so if it needs work, even for a day, that's a day my wife can't get to work without a rental. So, once you're opting for the rental anyway, the question becomes, $30/day reimbursement or $75/day reimbursement? The CMax is a very nice car. You can't rent something like it for $30/day today, let alone 4 years from now. Who knows what a rental car will cost in 2017? So we figured, since this plan is supposed to remain useful for several years, we might as well get the pricier rental coverage. So, I guess we'll see how it goes. Maybe the car will have over $1.2k worth of components fail during our time with it, maybe it won't. It's a gamble, of course. But a brand new car? (I mean, first model year.) And with all these gadgets? It seemed safer to go for it, right? Right? (Just a tinge of buyer's... not so much remorse, but perhaps skepticism.)
  21. Overall, I've been quite pleased with the navigation system, and this is coming from someone who's never bought a car with factory navigation before, nor seen a system I'm able to understand why anyone would pay money for, ever. I used to opt for Garmin units, years ago, but have been using my phone recently. That said, I knew I wanted the My Ford Touch 8" center screen, navigation or not. I just loved that stereo. I also thought the button design if you opted against MFT was ugly, personally. And while MFT actually is available without navigation, it's extremely hard to find, and really not a whole lot cheaper. So I said, sure, get the nav. I'm glad I did. I never use my phone for nav anymore. I do however, annoyingly, have to use my phone to learn street addresses. Trying to use voice recognition to recognize POI names is extremely difficult, often impossible. I have found it does work pretty well with destinations that have names comprised of dictionary words, like American Furniture Warehouse, or Chart House, for example. But anything which is a proper name, and/or a confusing order of words (is it "The Denver Museum of Natural History and Science" or "The History and Science Museum of Denver", for example) the car just can NOT understand. So, basically any time I need to search for a POI, I rarely attempt even speaking the name anymore. I just pull over, whip out my phone, search for the address, then pull the voice command stalk and say, "Navigation, Destination, Address". It's much faster, and usually works quite well at that point. Once underway, I've found the directions provided are accurate and efficient. I particularly like that the voice can be eliminated, so instead of hearing "Turn right in whatever feet, Turn right in a few more feet, Turn right now," I just hear the tones. The tones are so much nicer. I highly recommend changing that setting ASAP. The system will beep once when you're a little bit from your turn, beep once more when you're close to your turn, and beep twice when you should be turning now. The tones can also be muted entirely, if you'd prefer, you can do that too. Just be sure to put the nav screen on the mini display to the right of the speedometer, or else you're likely to miss your turn, since there will be no audible reminder. All in all, I think the nav package has a lot of really nice features, so I'm really glad we got it, and I would definitely recommend it. If nothing else, I'm told it'll increase the resale value of the car. I don't know if that's true or just something the salesman said, but it seems believable enough.
  22. Darn! There could've been seat warmer buttons on the display if I had opted for those from the factory? :( As is, my Climate quadrant looks very bland and empty, hence the "need" to add those text elements, to fill space. But yeah, I can remove them. Here ya go...
  23. I want the picture in each corner to match the color coordination, so a snowflake made the most sense. A palm tree would look, to me, as if it belonged in the Nav quadrant.
