  1. Ouch on the "Under Carriage Shield", what ever caused the damage probably damaged something else.

I've hit a lot of stuff, climbed a center median (very slowly) barely made it across...scrapppp.

Finally figured out that if I raised the seat I would quit running over stuff.

Except for the time I drug it over a LARGE truck tread at 65 mph behind our motor home :banghead: .

Shield looks OK only a few scratches.

When you're towing behind your motorhome, do you tow with wheels down on the road or on a flatbed?

The towing companies around me will not tow any hybrid unless it's on a flatbed.

  2. With all due respect.  Reading texts WHILE driving is as ridiculous as having a newspaper spread across the steering wheel.   I commend FORD for having the motion disabler.

Sorry, since I have two kids now, seeing someone text while driving sends my blood pressure through the panoramic roof!!

Whenever I get the prompts that I have a new message, I just hit ignore & wait until at destination to check.

Only thing, I'll do while driving is answer phone calls & keep the conversation as short as possible.

  3. . But Sparky looks cooler 'cause I added chrome window pillars, a color match door guards with chrome stripe and shark fin antenna.

How much was it to swap the Shark Fin Antenna with the OEM Antenna?

I know there are several C-Max in my region as the dealership we got Neytiri from has sold several, however sighting another C-Max is few & far between (lucky to see 1-2 in a month).

  4. I actually don't know which gray I have. Its light, with silvery flecks. Funny that you live in Kahlotus, we are just up the street from you.

With you having the lighter gray, it's like our's the Ingot Silver.

Ralston is only about 32 miles away. That's gotta be an interesting commute to get out to Hanford, you must get to/from work via WA-24.

  5. We received the 2nd check today. It arrived via Priority Mail for us. With three different drivers (3 different driving styles), we're averaging just about 37 MPG.

Some of the $475 is going towards the purchase/install of a new Undercarriage shield for Neytiri.

We've had her since September 28, 2012 & currently have 64,712.7 miles on the odometer.

  6. There's always the back compartment, next to the battery. That would probably be enough space for whatever size umbrella you've got. Of course, you have to go back to the liftgate to get it out

We found a good use for this compartment: wine/champagne/alcohol bottles.

  7. They are required to use do care and caution, but most don't even know the meaning of the word. Bicyclists are just as bad and most ignore traffic control signs. They just do as they please and blame drivers for their ignorance, just like most pedestrians :drop:

I had a bicyclist just about hit me in a crosswalk. Then got hit by the car ran in front of. Couldn't blame the driver of the car. He had to swerve to miss the bike. It wasn't too bad I jumped to get out of the way and the car hit my foot. It spun me around and down I went on my back.

A perfect example of both the above posts would be yesterday. My wife & I were walking around the Rose Quarter (Portland, OR) waiting to attend the 3 P.M. Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert & when crossing streets which had pedestrian control signals, we stopped & waited for the light to change. Almost all others (pedestrians, skateboarders, & bicyclists) just walked/rode right through as if there was no signal present. When crossing at intersections where there was no signal, we stopped, looked for traffic then crossed when we saw it was clear, yet others just crossed without caring.

After the concert on our way to catch Tri-Met we saw the same things happening (it was dark out then & people didn't seem to care if they got hit or not).

  8. Maybe a back up sound. You can't see people walking behind you very well. If they don't hear the motor running they just keep on walking. If you don't see them :drop:

How about a voice that says LOOK OUT DUMB@# I'M BACKING UP in case my brake and backup lights aren't  enough of a clue.

Unfortunately we have a back-up alarm we installed & people still walk behind us with it sounding off.

I say that since we have the back-up alarm installed, we should no longer be held liable for running into people walking behind us while backing up.

My general procedure when backing up is hazards flashing, 2 beeps of the horn, & the back-up alarm, sounding off...even with doing all that people don't seem to care/notice.

Concerning pedestrians in front of the car, the regulation needs to be changed to "pedestrians only have the right-of-way if they stop & check for vehicles before crossing". I had an incident in one of the local Walmarts where I was next to a family with small children who were not paying attention to anything around them & they started to cross right in front of me, I hit the horn as a warning, & the mother yelled that "pedestrians have the right-of-way", even though they started crossing almost right in front me & didn't even look to see if the coast was clear.

  9. We have our vanity plates on order from the state, just waiting on them to arrive. Hopefully by Halloween, as it takes on average about 8 weeks in Washington State to get vanity plates.

After 2+ months of waiting, our new plates finally arrived for Neytiri. I'll see what I can do to get a picture of them for posting.

  10. How many miles did you get on your Michelins?

One of the first things I liked about the C-Max is that it has real tires. I hate how quickly my Prius eats tires. The early ones had very small tires that wear too quickly. The tire is simply too small for the car and needs a a high load rating to hold the weight. The high load rating and unusually small tire (175/65-14 81S) is barely used anywhere else and so not many manufacturers make them in the right load rating. This was fixed in later generations.

On the Michelins we got 38,000 miles on them.

For the Toyo Ultra Z900 we went with as listed for manufacturer recommendation for size.
