  1. There have been several threads about this creaking-when-turning issue--it's very common. Mine does the same thing. Some think it's the seals, some the exterior B-pillar trim (push it and you'll hear the exact same creak). If your dealer is like mine, "they all do that" is considered an acceptable response, and you'll just turn up the radio.

Sorry Kotsby, I'm with David on this. The fact so many people are having noise from movement in the door frame, regardless of which part is doing the creaking, inspires no confidence in the torsional rigidity of the car. I had a VW Passat wagon, which like the C-Max has a lot of openings and has double-sealed doors, but even after 10 years, there was never a creak, not even when traversing lumpy unpaved ground. I realize that's a higher class of car, but "not creaking like a hoopty that's been in a wreck" is a realistic expectation for ANY car you're still making new-car payments on.

    Hi HotPotato,

Has the creaking been taken care of since your post? I'm happy to look into this. What's your year and mileage?

  2. I currently have a 2013 c-max hybrid.  I bought it brand new.  I have read that in the 2013 there is a issue with the battery going dead because the computer is not shutting down all the systems and they in turn drain the battery.  Mine is in the shop right now, has been for over a week, we are waiting for a new battery control module.  Anyone know if this fixes the problem for good or am I looking at a on going problem?

    Welcome to the forum, teddybear!

I want to look into this further. What's your approximate mileage?

  3. My guy at the garage could not believe the state of my brakes.  The front is metal on metal.  It's a 2013 with 24K on it.  Need new rotors and pads all around.  This car is starting to get on my nerves.  The clock can't keep time, it has more recalls than ever, it stranded me twice.  I wonder what is next.....

Did you work with your local Ford Dealer, or an independent mechanic, reedmother?

  4. Dropped the cmax off at Koons Sterling ford at 7:30

    had the following work done.

    15b04  12v battery recall

    15e03  Powertrain control module reprogram

    14s21 Restraint control module

    total parts  528

    total labor 377

FoMoCo  picked up the tab.  and they took e me home  and came and got me 4 hours later and come get the car.  Service with a smile.

I'm thrilled to hear you had such a great experience working with Koons Sterling Ford, Marc Smith! I'll be more than happy to document your feedback if you'd like. Just PM me your best daytime phone number and full name. :)

  5. ...Today, I made an appointment for Monday 12/21/2015 as another oil change coming up.  While speaking with the service advisor, he said there is a recall about the 12V battery failure (I think it is CSP 15B04), so basically whatever the dealership doing to the CMAX for 2 days (05/06 and 05/07) trying to fix the 12V battery failure based on instruction by the Ford engineer IS USELESS.  Also, the rear bigger chair could not be folded anymore (whatever the dealership was trying to diagnose the car, it made the chair not fold down anymore), and I just found that out on last Friday while I was stumbling around getting the jumpstarter in the powered-down-locked cargo area (nice design, it needs a manual hatch door level).

The above is a little info for anyone having similar problems with the 12V battery failures.. . .  .

When it gets closer to your appointment, please let me know. Keep me in the loop in the meantime as well. What's your mileage?

  6. Our C-Max SEL is three years old (30,000 miles) and has been without any problems.  We LOVE the car.  Yesterday we get in it and it is dead. Nothing!  Called and got a jump start and it has been fine since.  It drives me crazy not knowing why this happened or that there is no way (that I know of) to find out about the health of the 12 volt battery.  Anybody else having this issue?  Thanks.

    Hi GBJerry,

Have you had a chance to visit your dealer to have the battery tested? Once you have an appointment set up, please let me know. I'll look into this further.

  7. This one interests me because this weekend I had to adjust the driver's seat and, when it started moving, I heard a popping type sound. It worried me for a moment but the seat still worked fine after the noise, so I wasn't too concerned. It is good to see this, however, as it appears that I may be covered if the seat does have an issue.

If you decide to head to the dealer to have this looked into, please let me know. I will check into some options.

  8. I also have had issues setting the time display on center SE display (especially after dealer reprogramming).

I recall reading somewhere in this forum that it sometimes helps to change/set the date first, then the time. (See previous post for instructions on how to set date/time).

    Hi Zathrus,

Have you had a chance to swing past your dealer to get this checked out? Please let me know, along with your mileage, and I'll look into some options.

Thanks - i appreciate it.  i don't remember if she clicked an OK button after selecting the correct time, i remember she was looking for some kind of Save button or some way to tell it to save, i will ask her later if there was an OK button.  She said today that the clock is apparently broken because now it just keeps going back and forth between 12pm and 1pm, it will tick off the time from 12pm and then will reset back to 12pm when it reaches 1pm.  So she may have to go to the dealer. I will tell her to try reseting the date and then the time, just to find out what happens.

    thanks!

    Hi jaw444,

I recommend your friend reaches out to our Ford Service team on Facebook or Twitter (or to me here if she makes an account) so we can look into some additional options. She can also call our Customer Relationship Center at 1-800-392-3673.

  9. Yes - when ever we get recall notices I always take it straight away and get the issue reported fixed and the sfotware updated. I really love this little car and it would be totally perfect if not for this ongoing battery issue. Mine is the SE model and from what I read it seems to be the one that suffers with this the most. I am seriously thinking of trading up to the latest model but must admit I am scared the same battery issues will playgue even newer models.

Surely by now Ford must know what is causing this - why haven't they come up with a permanant fix for it?

    Hi Cowspotdog,

I want to check out some options. Please private message me your VIN, mileage, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer name/location.

  10. I dug up this thread recently as I noticed a smell coming from my vents -- oddly I only seem to really notice it when I turn the A/C off. In any case, I checked YouTube for recommendations, as well. One of the ones, by Scotty Kilmer suggests just using Lysol -- he claims that it works as well as any of the specialty items he's used as a mechanic.

    Hi raadsel,

Have you had a chance to swing past your dealer for a diagnosis? Please let me know, along with your mileage.

  11. I have same kind of B-pillar noise. Dealership says it's the retractable seatbelt mechanism. They have tried to insulate the mechanism but noise keeps returning. zharry

When was your most recent dealer visit, zharry? Please let me know, along with your mileage.

  12. I had three times of this problem (a sign says "stops safely now") this week. first time, it stopped in front of a traffic light. second time, when i pulled off from my garage, the third time was in front of a bank. the experience was scary when stopped at mid of the road. the whole car just lost its power. you cannot turn it on and lost control. It even slides back. I did not do anything to it. after few minutes then it will come back on. but I just so afraid to drive it again. Called dealer service dept and they cannot take it in to check until more than a week later which i think it is a ridiculous response for a safety issue of a car. and it is only 14 months after i bought it.

    Hi Ago,

When you called your dealer, did you go ahead and schedule the appointment? Please let me know, along with your mileage, and I'll check out some options.

This is a job for Ford Service!

No, not the dealer, the Ford rep on the C-Max forum, aka "fordservice." Meagan was posting yesterday... this is exactly the kind of thing they do.

    Frank

Thanks for the shout, fbov! The dealer's in the best position to diagnose concerns, as I'm not a technician or hands on. :)

  13. Interesting that I just got this recall in the mail.  I was wondering if you would get a code if this happened? It sounds like you don't need to do this unless you have a problem. :)

    Hi Paul,

If you decide to head in to have this taken care of, I can look into some options from my end. Just keep me in the loop. :)

  14. I haven't even scheduled it yet! :)

Whoops, I read it as you were on your way in. :D Please let me know when you do.

I have cracking on the top part of the panel on a 2013 SEL with only 20,000 miles.  Been waiting for the dealership to say they have parts for the restraints module recall to question them on it.  Good to know about the TSB so they cannot just claim normal wear and tear.  It has been 30 years since I have had to worry about cracking seats even with Alaska winters.  Car is in heated garage at night, and I use Meguiar's in the spring and fall.

    Hi donhak,

When you head back in, please let me know. I'll look into some additional assistance.

  15. I have an appointment to do the Emission Recall 15E03 and the Restraints Control Module Replacement 14S21 next week.  SA said they finally have the module in stock.  I think it was about 9 months ago that I first went in for the 14S21 work and he said they had to order it.  He never called to say "the one with your name on it has come in", but that's okay.

I can also look into how to help things run smoothly for you as well, ArizonaEnergi. Just PM me your VIN, mileage, best daytime phone number, full name, and dealer name/location, and I'll get on it. :)
