  1. Hey everyone,

SnowStorm is correct.  I wanted to know what version Redshift currently had installed. The link I posted is supposed to take you to screen to sign into your Owner account. Once signed in, you'll be directed to the software update page. It has nothing to do with model years. For some reason the link I originally posted isn't working correctly and it takes you to a sitemap page. On that page you do not see anything lower than 2016 because it's referring to current vehicles in production to purchase. It's a marketing page; not for support. You can access the software update page by selecting SYNC & VEHICLE FEATURES then CHECK FOR SOFTWARE UPDATES.

Our SYNC support site has articles to assist all systems: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos.html?category=sync If you're signed in, the articles will automatically contour to your vehicle. If you're not signed in, you'll have the option to choose year (2007+), model, and SYNC version.

To answer the question about 3.8. That version was removed from accounts due to issues with the self-installation process. Because of this, no one is able to download 3.8 from their Owner accounts. In most cases, you're able to have the update installed (at no cost to you) at the dealer under the 12M02 Customer Satisfaction Program.

  2. You proved my point with your link. There are no cars listed there older than 2016. I have a 2015.  Also, I have Sync 2, version 3.8 that hasn't been updated since October 15th, 2015.

    Redshift,

I'm unable to speculate why older vehicles aren't showing up, because we still troubleshoot all systems.  V3.8 is the most up to date software for the MyTouch system, but once an update is rolled out, you'll be notified in your account.

  3. I am not connected to Android Auto when I try to use AppLink. Android Auto would take the place of the apps section, which is normal behavior of course. When I normally connected the phone today, again AccuWeather showed on the screen for a brief second before disappearing. Then tapping on search for mobile apps would say no apps found.

Did this start happening before or after the update? Also, have you tried a system reset: http://www.fordservicecontent.com/Ford_Content/Catalog/owner_information/SYNC-3-Supplement-version-2_sycsy_EN-US_10_2015.pdf The instructions are on page 113.

I have fixed the issue I was having with Chrome and the Ford Owner site. Turned out to be a bad cookie. Thx!

Anytime! I'll be here if anything else comes up. :)

    Hi Shaay,

I disabled AppleCarPlay. I then opened the Pandora, iHeartAuto and Accuweather apps on my iPhone 6. The apps appeared in the AppLink section of the Sync 3 screen and worked fine. When I closed down the apps on my iPhone 6, they closed in Sync AppLink. I assume that I need to open the apps on my iPhone 6 every time that I want to use them with the Sync 3 AppLink system? I checked my version of Sync 3 and it showed version 2.0. The build date on my 2017 C-Max Hybrid was late Novermber 2016.

What does the upgraded USB port provide?

    Hi Rick369,

The USB port that joshg678 is referring to is for CarPlay. With iPhones, the app must be running to use AppLink: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/sync-3/applink/how-do-i-use-sync-applink-with-my-iphone.html

  4. Is anyone having difficulties accessing the Ford owner link using the Chrome browser? I can only seem to get to the site using Microsoft Edge browser (ugh!)

    Hi AZgman,

Are you still experiencing this issue? If so, try clearing out your cookies and cache in Chrome. Get back to me when you get the chance.

(Not sure why this wasn't posted earlier, anyways) I downloaded the update a few weeks ago and used USB drives to install it. The install appeared fine and AppLink mobile apps worked until last week. When I tried to unpair then re-pair my phone to the car, briefly Accuweather showed up in the mobile apps section (for like a second or two). I wonder if there is some setting I need to change in my phone (Nexus 6P with Android 7.1.1 Nougat) to allow AppLink apps. At the very least I would like to get the FordPass app to communicate with the car so I can have updated odometer mileage and fuel level.

Thanks for clarifying. Ford has not officially released version 2.2. It sounds like you've downloaded the unofficial version floating around online. Unfortunately, if this issue is the result of updating, I will not be able to assist.

When you try to access AppLink, are you connected to Android Auto?

  5. Hey everyone!

A new update for SYNC 3 hasn't been officially released by Ford. Unfortunately, an actual release date hasn't been provided. Please keep an eye on your Owner account: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html It will be posted there once it's available.

My Sync 3 version is v2.2 (HN1T-14G381-LG).  I am able to access the mobile apps section only when Android Auto is disabled (normal behavior), but lately no mobile apps have been showing up. I know that in the past (~ a week ago) AccuWeather and FordPass showed up there.

Thanks. When did you download the update, and what method was used to install?

I recently bought a 2017 Titanium. Does anybody know if the FordPass app works on a iPhone 6 running the latest iOS software with Sync 3 and AppleCarPlay? The only apps that I have downloaded on my iPhone 6 to be used with AppleCarPlay are Pandora and iHeartAuto. Pandora works fine. I haven't tried iHeartAuto yet. Does AccuWeather have an app for the iPhone and AppleCarPlay?

    Hi Rick369,

Congrats on the new vehicle! You're unable to access any of Ford's mobile apps (through AppLink) while CarPlay is enabled: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/sync-3/apple-carplay/sync-3-plus-apple-carplay-support.html FordPass and Accuweather are both compatible with iPhones. If you choose to use AppLink, you must disable Carplay.

  6. Just went to Ford's site to see if they have any upgrades for Sync 2. Since the site knows I have a 2015, they recognise me. Under the Sync tab, I cannot even click on anything, like choose your year. It's all greyed out. Guess us millions of Sync 2 owners are just left to fend for ourselves. This does not give me a good impression of Ford. The site has, in small text, a notice that the site is only for Sync 3. Thanks Ford. :-(

    Hi Redshift,

Our Owner site is not only for SYNC 3. Were you actually logged in: https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/sign-in.html Also, it sounds like you were viewing an article that pertained to the SYNC 3 system only. You can change the vehicle year, model, and system.

For example, this article is for the MyFord Touch system: https://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html If you don't change to your vehicle info, you'll see the notice that says THIS INFORMATION APPLIES TO SYNC WITH MYFORD TOUCH.

Car companies are used to putting out a new redesign every few years and software upgrades happen a lot quicker than that.  "Radios" were something that once used to never really change unless you bought third party.  They have to have something to make you want to upgrade to the new model right?

My friend has a Mercedes and the software in it is horrible, he's an XM subscriber and periodically the radio locks up when they do a channel update, searched a few forums and it seems to happen across their whole product line.

He added the 360 panoramic camera as an option, which is really neat - but it's also supposed to have rear sonar sensor overlay on the screen and alarm like the C-MAX does - you have to literally be ready to hit the back bumper before it will alarm.

I hate the slow responsiveness of MFT (errgh, typical Microsoft) but I actually like the interface compared to some of the other alternatives, I haven't had a chance to see the latest generation software though - it might be even better.  The ads in MFT are a little annoying too, I really don't give a crap about "Marriott, Starbucks or Walmart"

    jestevens,

    Thanks for the feedback!

  7. AM FM frequency display incorrect after change by voice command.

Is this still not fixed?  MySync claims the last update was April 2013 and there is no newer version - hard to believe.

    Hi CAcreeks,

Plus 3 Golfer and raadsel are both correct! Version 3.8 was released last year; however, it was recently removed from accounts and is not available online at this time. A dealer can install the update, at no cost to you, under the 12M02 Customer Satisfaction Program.

  8. Hi all

My CMAX HEV with ~43K miles has sync issues.!

Dealership detected it has bad APIM  module  rendering the Sync inoperable -> Un-pairs my phone , Bluetooth, Voice commands & USB  don’t work . Message on the screen is "Blue tooth media disconnected"

This issue happens randomly every couple of weeks & then after a few days without doing anything I can pair up my phone, play music & everything goes back to normal until the next event. Three such events in the past two months.

Going thru the master reset process does not help. Software versions are up to date.

I dug up a Customer Satisfaction program 12M02 (see attached pdf ) which calls out certain vehicles  built  in 2011-2013 with bad APIM modules covered with an extended warranty up to 5 years & no mileage constraints. Interestingly 2013 CMAX is not in the list.

The dealership says they have to replace the APIM module costing ~$600 parts & labor since I am out of the base warranty. We are also tried reaching out to Ford Customer Service & they are throwing  40% "good will" coverage of the total cost.

Since the past two days the sync decided to show me some mercy & is working fine.

I am torn if I should take the 40% off deal & get the module replaced or just live with this quirky sync. I am concerned  the same issue might repeat even after replacing.

I read somewhere on pulling the fuses although it did not help for me.

    Any advise

    Hi greencmax,

I can look in to it for you. Can you tell me what is your SYNC version? It is listed here:

    https://owner.ford.com/tools/account/how-tos/keep-your-sync-up-to-date.html

  9. Hi. I bought a 2013 C-Max Energi this past weekend and I'm still trying to navigate all of the new bells and whistles. The sheer number of options is baffling. I've noticed that I have access to MyFord Mobile but when I tried to register my vehicle it says that it is already registered to another email address, which I presume is the former owner. Not only would I like to have full access to this option but I would like to limit  the former owner's access to my vehicle. Does anyone have any guidance in this matter? I don't see on the MFM site an option to contact the administrators. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As an aside, I'm excited to be part of this community and am pleased to see so many owners who are obviously as enamored with their vehicles as I am, even after years of ownership.

    Hi Jimmy Fett,

Congrats on your purchase! Try a master reset: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html The reset will disassociate your vehicle from all MyFord Mobile accounts. When you log back into the app or site, you will be prompted to add a vehicle. If asked to retrieve historical data, select NO.

Let me know if this helps.

  10. Great! Thank you. I was just confused because it said something else. I have not been able to confirm my successful update. I receive an error when I try.

I finally got it to report the update after I tried a different computer.

Anytime! Trying another computer was a great option. If you have any additional questions in the future, don't be shy. :)

Question:   Looking at the instructions, it states a "USB drive" and then states "SD card".  Can I use a USB thumb drive?

    From instructions:

"Please note you will need a USB drive in order to proceed. This update is compatible with A3, A4, A5, A6 and A7 SD cards only"

    Thx

    Thx

    Hi scottwood2,

raadsel is correct. The update has to be done on a USB. The SD card is only for navigation. It's explaining that you will need at least an A3 card to work with the latest software version. You can locate your navigation SD card in the center console to check.

  11. Hi jvillerot14,

I'd like to help! Can you go to the vehicle and check the CCPU S/W version? To check your software version:

    1. Press the GEARS icon at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Select HELP on the left.
    3. Select SYSTEM INFORMATION in the middle.
    4. The CCPU will be listed on this screen.

Get back to me when you get a chance.

  12. All voice commands require repeating or clarifying from a list of choices. The main issue is that no one I call can hear or understand me anymore. They say it sounds garbled and far-away. I can't use the hands-free option if no one can understand me. I tried using someone else's phone (I have an iPhone and tried a friend's Android) to connect and the same thing happened, so I ruled out a phone issue. The dealership had a guy try it and they said they could understand him when he called. I don't know if it's because he was taller and had a deeper/louder voice... I'm short and soft-spoken, but it has always worked for me in the past.

    Hi Singoffpitch,

    I recommend trying a master reset: http://owner.ford.com/how-tos/sync-technology/myford-touch/settings/how-to-perform-a-master-reset.html

Let me know if this works!

  13. Do you see a MENU button, Rob? If you do, you should be able to press it to get into the SYNC -MEDIA menu. You'll want to do the following to get to USB:

MENU > SYNC-MEDIA > OK > Down arrow to SELECT SOURCE > OK

You should then see USB listed as a source. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

  14. It's been a while since I've had a Blackberry, so please forgive me on my lack of knowledge. LOL!

Basically, when you sync an email account, the phone automatically adds your email contacts to the phonebook, but they're not actually stored there. When you manually add a contact to your phonebook, does it ever ask you where you want to save it to: memory card, SIM card, device, cloud?
