  1. Congrats, Vampireslug! Not only did you get a new C-MAX, but you also found open freeways in the Detroit area!?!? That's an A++ in my book. ;) I'm here if you have any SYNC questions or concerns.

    Enjoy your road trip! :shift:

  2. Last week the radio screen said "Sirius update 0%" and nothing Entertainment related worked, including voice commands. I tried rebooting with Master Reset, but it did not help. So I called my Ford dealer and a helpful service guy advised me to temporarily disconnect the auxiliary battery. That solved the problem! In the attached photo, the disconnect point is the one nut to the left, not the two nuts down below. This battery is located under the tray in the back. Anybody else seen this? I could not find a post about it.

Wait, CAcreeks! Try having your SiriusXM signal refreshed. You can do it online here:

    https://care.siriusxm.com/retailrefresh_view.action

Let me know how it goes. :)

  3. Looks like the Ford maps on the nav are by telenav so I found this info on the web on how to notify them of bad data:

    www.telenav.com

"Telenav provides three navigation products — beamed-in (SYNC Services), brought-in (Ford SYNC AppLink) and built-in (MyFord Ford Touch) — to Ford Motor Company. The collaboration between Ford and Telenav delivers high-quality, user-friendly experiences that are touted by technologists and consumers alike."

here is the contact info for them:

"There are various methods of notifying TeleNav about mapping changes. First and foremost you may call our 24hr customer care at (888)-353-6284 and inform anyone of our representatives about the mapping change in your area.

Secondly you may also email our customer care at care@telenav.com with the mapping information. All emails are read and reviewed daily, and lastly you may also post within our online community, which is closely monitored by our online community management team."

Looking at their site they also provide the maps for the highly rated QNX based nav/infotainment system that is in the Audi's and supposedly coming in the next gen C-Maxes (2015/2016?)

    Hey salsaguy,

The map data for our SD card navigation is provided by HERE, formerly known as NAVTEQ.The easiest and fastest way to report missing roads and POIs is on our map provider's website here:

    https://mapreporter.navteq.com/#dashboard

Currently the SD card updates are not on their website (www.navigation.com), but we plan to have them available on there in the future.

For those of you wanting an A5 card, I suggest contacting a few dealers to ensure the best price. Since I don't know where the SD cards on E-Bay are coming from, I do not recommend them. :)

  4. I haven't found anything like that either.  When they say "Pandora connectivity" it means you can connect audio from the bluetooth on your phone and access Pandora features from the Sync Screen.  The Pandora app (and many others) reside on your phone though and are made compatible with Sync by the app developers.

Some phones will allow you to use Pandora and other apps via MyFord Touch, but with limited voice commands. For a list of voice commands, check this out:

    http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/entertainment-by-voice-sync-myford-touch

You can also have your voice heard by heading over to Ford Social and voting on this subject; here's the link:

    http://social.ford.com/your-ideas/technologies/infotainment/include-applink-with-myford-touch/

ISn't there supposed to be more by default. I say applink or external apps (which are the phrases listed somewhere on a ford site) trying to get to control apps like pandora and mine doesn't know these command or show up in the command list. I've seen  this on the new prius{not mine) ,which other than the apps [through entune] the radio is nothing I want in my cmax.

My dealer has flashed and updated my radio and still no commands which were supposed to be there on my car at sale.

Does anyone have apps that the salesman and sync demonstrator should have shown. I waived my rights to the demonstrator so I can't be sure if it just the 3 posters here with this issue.

Which system do you have, techman05? AppLink is available only on SYNC with MyFord; if you'd like to see what both system offers, take a look here:

  5. Hey shinytop,

    Congrats on your new C-MAX!

I'm glad Laurel was able to help you with this. For your future use, here's a list of voice commands for MyFord Touch (there are a lot, LOL):

    http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/voice-command-categories-sync-myford-touch

Also, if you turn the volume knob while SYNC is talking, it turns her voice up or down. Let me know if you have any questions about the system. :)

  6. Very nice review, and I'm glad to see you're still enjoying your C-Max, MaxwellHammer!

I believe you are talking about the SiriusXM channel update that came through last year. Unfortunately, some customers had a similar experience, but I'm happy all is well since it got it taken care of. :) Should anything like that happen again or you have any MFT questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

  7. Thank you everyone for your help!  I found my rest areas.

YAY! Now you can stretch your legs. :)

Hi Rebecca,  I have pulled out the SD card and re-inserted that.  Is that a master reset?  If not, I am game to do it if you tell me how.  Thanks.

No, that just semi resets the navigation system. A master reset will clear all SYNC and navigation-related data and put your settings back to factory default. Since you said that it's lagging over time, I'd like to see if this helps. Here's the link to the instructions:

    http://support.ford.com/sync-technology/pair-your-phone-sync-myford-touch

You will have to re-pair your phone and add your your favorites back to navigation.

    Rebecca -

Should we be doing a master reset only if we are experiencing some sort of problem, or is this something we should be doing on a "regular" (how often?) basis?

That's a great question, Dave! A master reset should only be used if you are having an issue with your system; however, since most things can be rectified without it, use your best judgement or come to me first.

  8. Thanks Rebecca for the information.  I tried your advice this morning without success.  When Sync asked me the name I said Rest Area and it said that I could give names or spell it out so I tried again and also tried spelling out rest area and it didn't find any for me.  I hope there is an answer for this because it would be very handy while on a trip.  Thanks again.

That's strange! I just tried manually searching, and both voice commands and it worked. My system is version 3.6 with the A3 SD map card. Is your MyFord Touch and SD card up-to-date?

We tried it this morning.  Navigation, destination nearest rest area.  And it worked fine.  However I have to mention that overall the nav is pretty unstable for us these days.  Our little icon is rarely on the road anymore.  We notice if we make right turns our icon goes off the road and stays off until it suddenly on its on goes back on track.  We used to brag about our nav but the longer we have the car the more glitches are happening with it.  We aren't due for serving until the Fall, but I will ask whether we need a GPS Module when we go in.

Thanks for testing this, Laurel! When's the last time you performed a master reset to your system?

    Rebecca

  9. That list includes the Galaxy S4 but not the newest and most popular model the S5, which I'm considering getting.

Not sure if it's not on the list because they didn't update it yet or if it's really not compatible....?

My department doesn't test the phones and update the list; I'm not too sure of what their process is, but since the S5 is fairly new, it may be a couple more weeks till they update the list with it.

thanks everyone for all the replies.I picked up the Galaxy Note 3 today and it works fine with the c-max!

    Good choice!

    Rebecca
