  1. Tomorrow I am stopping by my local Ford dealership and ordering a 2014 SEL, Ruby Red with the panoramic sunroof. I would be interested in finding out if manfuacture of the 2014 Hybrids have begun yet. I called Ford today and the women I talked to could not answer this question. She is going to investigate the answer and get back to me
  2. The closest dealership that had what I wanted was in Maryland, about 7 hours south of me
  3. After test driving the C-Max twice and looking at the various packages we have decided to purchase a Ruby Red C-Max with panoramic sunroof and package 302A (navigation, Sony sound system, HD Radio, Backup camera, hands free ligtgate). No local dealer (not a single dealer in New York) has this exact configuration in a 2013 so we will be ordering a 2014. As a bonus might just get a few more MPG. I called Ford today and the women I spoke with could not give me an answer on 2014 availability. She could not even tell me if the 2014 Hybrid (not Energi) was being built yet. She is going to research further early next week and get back to me. Hopefully I won't have to wait longer than 8 weeks to get one.Of course the 2014 C-Max mileage is still TBD on the website
  4. After much thought, I really want the Ruby Red with the panoramic sunroof. Since no dealers in my area (meaning no dealers I can find anywhere in New York) have this exact car, I am going to talk to my local dealer about ordering a 2014. No quick satisfaction but I will get exactly what I want
  5. I am purchasing an SEL from my local dealer. They have a black with the panoramic sunroof or red without, which one should I buy? The price difference is small so it comes down to the sunroof. We live outside of Rochester NY so we have a lot of gray days
  6. The other thing I forgot to mention is back seat leg room. If I had young kids, I would seriously consider the Forester. Young kids grow up through those teenage years and the back seat on the C-Max has nowhere near the leg room of a Forester. Over the years we did a lot of longer driving vactions with our kids and having extra leg room in the back is a big plus. My two kids are out of the house now so it is just my wife and I so the back seat will only get occasional passengers so the C-Max will work fine.
  7. I believe you are correct, several local dealerships have 2014s Energis on the lot but none have 2014 Hybrids.
  8. I wish that Ford's website had the MPG posted for the 2014 C-Max's. On the site it just says TBD (To be determined). Since they are shipping I cannot imagine the mileage numbers are too far behind. I know that other than the minor changes described at the beginning of the post, the 2014 will be the same as the 2013. If these minor changes yield a few more MPG I will order a 2014. I will try and call Ford tomorrow and see if I can get more information. Happy new year
  9. The Forester was a very nice car and if you need the AWD, there is no better vehicle to get it on. I purchased the C-Max over the Forester for a few reasons: Gas Mileage - this is a big one for me. My current 2000 Toyota Camry V6 gets about 25 MPG around town. This is close to what the Forester gets which gave a big advantage to the C-Max. I always thought it was odd that a lot of new vehicles get the same gas mileage as my 13 year old carA bit quieter and a bit of a better ride I must be comofortable with the brake pedal in the C-Max since I never gave it a second thought during the test drive The only hesitation I have about purchasing the C-Max is reliability. I have owned a lot of Honda's and Toyotas over the past 25 year and they have all been very reliable. The last time I owned a Ford it was an early 80s Mustang. Ford has come a long way since then, the Mustang was one of the worst cars I ever owned
  10. Base price is the same for the 2013 and 2014. Ford has some incentive right now that lower the price a bit, the incentives end on January 2nd and according to the dealer there will probably be new incentives starting them. Whether they are the same incentives, better, or worse he did not know. If the 2014 got an additional 2, 3, or 4 more miles per gallon I might be tempted to order one and not purchase a 2013
  11. I test drove the C-Max a second time today and will be purchasing one. Thanks for all the feedback!! I have started another thread asking about the differences between the 2013 and 2014 model years if you have any input http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3357-differences-between-2013-and-2014/
  12. Over the past two days I have test driven several cars and will be purchasing a C-Max SEL. I am trying to get a definitive answer on the differences between the 2013 and 2014 model year. I asked at the dealer and the salesman said there are no differences. I read on Ford's website that the 2014s will have: New transmission gearingNew hood sealFront and rear tire deflectorsA-Pillar moldingsRear lift gate deflectorsNew engine oilThe changes above are all an attempt to raise the C-Max's mileage even further. My local dealer has quite a few 2013 C-Max's on the lot. Should I purchase one of them or order a 2014?
  13. Rochester NY is snow country, we get about 100 inches a year. For the most part plows keep the streets free of deep snow and my driveway is kept plowed. The AWD of the Subarus is very nice but the number of days that it would be real handy in Rochester probably number less than 20. We did drive the C-Max this afternoon and were impressed. My wife has a Honda Fit so a comparison to that was a natural The C-Max is larger in both length and width. This makes it feel roomier inside and the extra lenght gives me more leg room (I am 6'2"). The extra width makes it easier to go elbow to elbow with my wife as we share the center consoleThe C-Max rides better soaking up the bumps betterThe C-Max is quieter in not only road noise but also wind noiseThe intererior of the C-Max is nicer than the FitMy wife's Fit is a nice around the town commuter car but not so nice on longer trips due to the ride and the noise. It seems that the C-Max would work nice for longer trips. We are going to do a bit more homework and drive the C-Max and Camry Hybrid one more time before making a decision.
  14. My wife and I test drove several cars today, here are our impressions so far: Rav4 - rode a bit rough, bigger car than we really needPrius - felt underpowered, interior was very utilitarian and a bit stripped downCamry Hybrid - out of the three Toyotas we drove, we thought this was the nicest. Quiet, great ride, much nicer interior than the the prius. The only downside is the seat sits lower than an SUV and my guess is it sits lower than the C-MaxSubaru Outback - nice vehicle, a bit noisier than the Camry and of course sacrficing about 15 MPGSubaru Forester - another nice vehicle, also a bit noisier than the Camry and did not ride as nice. Sacrifice about 10 MPG over Camry. Seat height was nice and have read that Subarus are very reliable. AWD is nice but even living in Rochester, NY not sure it is a must have item. A good front wheel drive car with good tires goes a long way even in the snowWe are testing the C-Max this afternoon, I will report back then
  15. Over the next week I will be test driving: Ford C-Max SELSubaru ForesterToyota Rav4Honda CRVToyota PriusI have a 2000 Toyota Camry that has been reliable but is ready to be replaced. We live outside Rochester NY Would you purchase a C-Max again? If so why? If not why?
