  1. I was notified that I had an update available for SYNC. I downloaded the latest SYNC software to my USB drive. Then started the install. Everything seemed to be moving along till Play Menu appeared. the next step indicated the display should show SYNC USB and then to press OK. I waited 40 minutes for SYNC USB to show but it never did. Play Menu was still showing. I got bored and quit. How long does this suppose to take? Will a dealer do this for free? Thanks for any input or advise.

  3. Hi Megan, I have 12,485 miles on my C-Max SE. I have a service appointment at Fort Mill Ford in SC on this coming Monday 1/11/16. Hopefully they will do Recalls 14E02 & 14S21 and CSP 15B04.
  4. Well it took 18 months of ownership of my 2013 SE for me to experience a dead battery. It sat in my garage for two days. When I went to drive out of the garage, turned the key and nothing. No lights, etc. Connected my 8 amp battery charger and let it charge for a couple of hours. Then got into the CMAX to see if it would do something. When I turned the key everything inside the car was turned on; A/C, radio, climate control on max cool, all dash lights, etc. It was quite surprising. I know for sure they were all off when I parked the car. Well, let it charge over night and then tried again and everything seems back to normal. Will drive it today and hope that I don't need to call for a jump. I need to go to the dealer for a couple of recalls. Plan on letting them know about this incident. Sure hope Ford has found the cause of this issue.
  5. Scott, I purchased my 2013 SE in Feb. 2014. It was build in late June 2013. It had sat at a dealer approximately 75 miles from my dealer. It had only 94 miles on it when I picked it up. So it was driven only around 20 miles in six months. Like I stated my battery died on the third day of ownership. My dealer suspected that the battery was jumped to get it running and the drive to Charlotte was not adequate to fully charge the battery. The day after I picked up the car it rained and I drove it around for about one half an hour. Wipers, radio and headlights on. Next day a dead battery. My dealer charged the battery for a full day and stated the battery tested OK. Since then no issues. So I do suspect my battery issue was due to a long period of no running. Hope your issue was solved by the computer update.
  6. Well, I have owned by 2013 C-MAX SE for thirteen months now. Other than a dead 12V battery on the third day of ownership it has been trouble free. The car has about 9200 miles and my life time average mpg is at 46.6 MPG. I drive around 70% suburb and 30% highway. Really can't think of anything I don't like about this car. It drives, handles, accelerates and brakes very well. Very roomy and quiet. Just an all around great automobile!
  7. Took my first highway road trip last week. North Carolina to New Jersey and back. Traveled approximately 1300 miles. 95% were between 65 - 72 miles per hour. The rest on slower back roads. Used ECO cruise about 85% of the time. A/C on the whole time. Trip screen indicated 43.0 mpg when I arrived home. Around town I average 47 - 48 mpg. I gather if I drove 55 - 60 miles per hour the highway mileage would be around 50 mpg. Very happy with the mileage and comfort of the vehicle. Taking it to the dealer later this week for recall 14S04. Currently have 4087 miles on the OD.
  8. Received my check on Monday, $475.00. Deposited it today. I figure it covers a good part of the extended warranty cost. Thanks Ford.
  9. Well I have owned my 2013 SE for a little over two months. After about 2 1/2 tanks of gas my dash reads 48.0 AVG MPG. I drive around 80% suburbs and 20% highway. Don't accelerate too quickly and don't tail gate. Try to keep a reasonable distance between me and car I am following to allow regen braking. The more I drive this car the more I like it.
  10. I recently purchased a 2013 C-Max SE vs a 2014. Looked at the 2014 models in the dealers lot. The changes might help highway driving but I do not believe to a significant amount. Since I drive only about 25% of the time on highway the potential fuel saving would be small. Also 2014 models did not have any incentives where as 2013 models offered $1500 Ford Cash Back and $1000 Ford Credit Rebate. Plus the dealer was discounting an additional $1200. To me the choice was easy. Have had the car almost a month. Really like it. With about 800 miles so far my average mileage is showing 45.3 mpg.
  11. Depending on the light conditions the color looks greenish or has a blue tint. To my sees in bright sun light the color looks like a greenish metallic but in the shade it has more of a blue hue. On over cast days it looks pale green, with no metallic appearance. Whatever it is, I am glade to not own another silver or white car. I actually like how it changes appearance with different light conditions. Will never be boring to look at.
  12. A follow-up to my original post. The dealer report says the following: Verified the concern: 12V battery is dead. Charge and test the battery: Pass. Check Oasis for TSBS and SSMS: None found. Check for DC/DC converter operation. Unable to find root cause at this time. The service manager feels the following might explain why the battery died. This car was built the last day of June 2013. It sat at a Ford dealer in Hickory, NC till I decided to purchase it here at my local dealer in Charlotte. It was driven to my dealer and when I test drove it the odometer only read 98 miles. I would guess the distance from one dealer to the other is around 85 miles. So this car sat for seven months at the original dealer and was only driven about 10 - 13 miles during that time. I bet most cars do not get started often enough to keep their batteries charged. I have seen new cars on dealer lots jumped quite a few times over my life. So he feels the battery was jumped to get it started and then driven to Charlotte. Most likely that was not enough charging time to adequately charge the battery. The first three days I drove the car on a few short trips only. Hence the battery went dead. Believe me I hope that might be the cause of my early dead battery. Only time will tell. Really like the car. Have around 538 miles on it now and my average mpg is 45.3.
  13. Well the local dealer charged my first dead battery for half a day and says everything tested out Ok. After reading all the posts on dead batteries I don't feel real confident about that statement. I love the car but must admit waiting for another dead battery takes away some of the pleasure of driving this car. Recap, first dead battery happened four days after purchase with about 250 miles. Currently driving with about 467 miles. Interesting things I noted before the battery died. The SYNC/Radio screen was stuck on the date and time of when I first picked up the car. I tried and tried to change the setting but they would not change. I was going to go back to the dealer after a week or two to see if they could fix this issue. Also noticed that the AC would almost always be on when I went to start the car. I never used the AC since it was in the 50-60 degree range here. After the dealer charged the battery and reset some module both of these issues disappeared. Ashley I wanted to send you a PM after my first post but looks like I need to have at least five posts. Will try to work on that.
  14. Hi, I am a new member. Pickup a new 2013 C-Max SE last Friday. Ice Storm. Have driven it 245 miles to date. I really enjoy driving this car. Unfortunately yesterday afternoon when I went out to start the car the battery was totally dead. The button on the key would not even open the drivers door. I used the key and opened the door but no lights, no nothing. Real bummer! Car was towed to the nearest dealer. Have not heard anything from them yet. Looks like the list of dead batteries has just gotten longer.
