  1. Good points. http://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations/2015/12/18/why-is-ford-increasing-focus-on-electric-vehicles/#2715e4857a0b567fbbd51cc6 "Ford is adding 13 new electrified vehicles to its portfolio by 2020" That doesn't sound like Ford is dragging it's heels on the electro-car technology front. Or lagging behind the competition. I seem to remember there was a similar article on CNN.com a week or two back.
  2. Sometimes I think my car knows if I am carrying a heavy box or have both hands full, and it will require more kicks.
  3. The C-max's turning circle isn't something I lose sleep over. Other than minor tweaks and fixes, I'd like to know why someone would think Ford has dropped the ball between the 2013 and 2016 models.
  4. Funny---we traded in an Audi A6 (the basic shape and dimensions are almost identical to a Fusion) We deliberately chose the C-max because (in my wife's words) "we don't need another Buick". However, you're probably getting better than my previous 18 mpg. What "improvements" are you referring to? Did you think the 2015 C-max would get 55 mpg and the 2016 C-max would get 65? While obviously some cars get a major re-design every so oftern (Honda Civic for example), it isn't going to happen to a car that was just launched in 2013. I have no comment on the '17 Fusion as this is not the Fusion forum.
  5. So why exactly are you on the forum if you (a) apparently dislike the C-max and (b) don't even own one? Just curious....
  6. Having been on this forum for a couple of years, I would not recommend the SE model to anyone I know. It's probably to late to suggest this, but from my experience when a mechanic says "there's nothing wrong" , it is a good indicator to find another mechanic. (or dealer)
  7. My favourite acronym is "NRG" for the C-max Energi model. I guess those extra two letters are just too exhausting to type. If anyone uses "K" instead of "OK", I will block them immediately ;)
  8. This thread is as old as the Pinto. The credibility of the OP was brought into question as she only made one post and never responded to any comments. I suggest we put this one to bed.
  9. Could be a faulty sensor. Maybe test the thermostat in hot water before you buy another?
  10. We try to spread the word. Some potential buyers go with more conservative purchases because of the fear of hybrids or fear of batteries or whatever. Others get scared off because of the 12 volt battery problem--which seems to mainly affect SE models. In my opinion, the SEL model is a nearly flawless blend of luxury and economy.
  11. I sincerely hope you guys aren't homicide detectives. OP's evidence: Interior "smells like a dog". Dog hair imbeded in carpet. OP "Scrubbed" the interior. I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but I'm kind of guessing it might be a lingering pet odor.
  12. NATURE'S MIRACLE. It got the smell of cat urine out of a canvas painting, and the vomit-like residue of a pungent Italian casserole that spilled over onto car trunk carpet. You can find it in pet stores.
  13. Took the words right out of my keyboard, Steve. There's a little mom-and-pop convenience store two blocks from my house. Every time I go in there I could EASILY pocket a candy bar and get away with it. Does that make it OK to steal candy bars? Seriously, Rocco.......... Personally I couldn't care less if you drive down hills in neutral while texting your wife and eating a cheeseburger. Couldn't care less. But since we're on a forum and you're proposing dangerous advice to members, I'll weigh in with my two cents.
  14. Driving in "N": It's both illegal and dangerous in British Columbia, too.
  15. Don't forget that if you use your seat heaters frequently it will dry out the leather. My parent's Volvo's seats are in rough shape due to a)they never turn off their seat heaters and b)never clean or condition their leather seats.
  16. This post is increasingly depressing. It sounds like you're getting pushed around by the dealership for the same reasons that you seemingly bought a car you felt "pressured" to buy. And inexplicably you didn't walk away when the dealer didn't want to show you another car. What I have learned in nearly 50 years on this planet? NOT EVERYONE NEEDS TO LIKE YOU!!!!!!! Be assertive. Be a jerk if you have to. Demand that your damned car gets fixed and if that doesn't work go to the regional manager for Ford in the area.
  17. From my experience, the car runs on the HV battery about 60% of the time. I'd say that was more than "not that much".
  18. Hard to believe the company that built the magnificent C-max once produced the Fairmont. We had the station wagon when I was a kid, much to my embarrassment.
  19. Show us an unbiased review and we'll give you feedback.
  20. This is what annoys me about those quick lube places. People who know nothing about cars (it's ok--my wife is one of those people) drive in there and get anxious when the "technician" strongly recommends an engine flush. And people are afraid to say "no" because that implies they are going against his "expert" recommendation and risk damaging their engine. Having said that the evidence presented in the "flushing can damage your engine" article is pretty weak. Show me 20,000 cars that died a week after the flush, not just ONE, and I might change my opinion that engine flushes are a pointless, but harmless way for JIffyLube to make money.
  21. If the "actual loss" is really 10%, more folks would buy the car. Since we don't hang stuff from the headliner or stack canned goods on the dashboard on our way back from Costco, you can't make that claim. I think the car is great for a single person or a couple---but for a family of four? No way.
  22. Hi Bill, Welcome to the forum. The C-max inverter is a lightweight in every sense of the word. An average hair dryer is 1500 watts. The C-max output is probably around 200. Enough for a rechargable shaver or an electric toothbrush. I do know a fair bit about RV electronics and have a dual-battery system in my camper with a 1500 watt inverter. But I would be very careful messing around with the C-max, as Steve mentioned, unless you know what you're doing. You can go to a decent electronics shop and ask them for a 12 volt to 20 volt DC-to-DC converter that plugs into the round 12v plug in the car. That way, you don't have to deal with the possibility that your inverter may not work (electronics prefer the more expensive "pure sine" inverters rather than the cheaper "modified sine" wave inverters.)
  23. I pay the price on the price tag or I walk out. For my new C-max. everything was included on the window sticker except for a $200 freight charge or tax or something. My memory is a bit fuzzy---but it is basically something that all Canadian dealerships do not have to put on the sticker. It was annoying but it wasn't a deal-breaker on a $30,000 purchase. I saved $3000-4000 at the end of the day, after shopping around at ALL the Ford dealerships in a 50 mile radius. Dealers get away with stuff because consumers let them get away with stuff. Go in there all-business, refuse the BS hot chocolate and doughnuts and you'll be fine.
  24. Let me ask you guys a question. Every bought a used car from a private individual? Did you calculate the fair, honest price of the car and offer the seller that amount, being careful not to give him less than the true, retail value? Even if he was asking less? Or did you try to buy the car for as little money as possible? I thought so.
  25. Don't get me started. The sleaze-balls in my (ex) dealership make Donald Trump look like Pope Francis. BUT.......they had rock bottom prices and gave me $7,000 for an Audi A6 with a........well.....less than perfect engine. When we told the sales manager we wanted to "think about it" and come back later to sign, he freaks out and says "I thought we were doing a deal! We haven't sold a single car today!!!" (this was Saturday around 2) The next day we go back and close, and the insurance guy tells us "yesterday was crazy---we sold a dozen cars!" Always a good idea to check out google reviews. Just like everything else in life---dentists, teachers, psychiatrists, wives----there are good ones and bad.
