  1. If the T-shirt was white, you'd see a big red "C" and not much else.
  2. I think there's some fuzzy logic here---I'm not sure what seat comfort or highway miles per gallon have to do with an argument about tailpipe emissions.
  3. I have definitely heard what I can only describe as a "quiet squeek" when I go over speed bumps at low speed, but I assumed it was normal. Will try to determine if it is getting worse. Thanks for the update.
  4. My colleage has an Escape SEL and the dashboard is identical to the C-max. Having said that, it's really an apples/oranges thing. Two different vehicles fitting different needs. A dealership would be the best place to answer your question.
  5. The difference between 0W20 and 5W20 is so negligible, I think it is fair to say one can happily use either. Some senior members reported no increase in MPGs with the thinner oil, so I just went with full-synthetic 5W20 on my last oil change.
  6. Sure........they are your failsafe wires so your car doesn't fly off behind you if anything breaks or disconnects. Attach hooks to baseplate---wrap around tow bar---attach to other end to MOHO. The manual should explain how they attach. Some guy on youtube probably has a video about them too.
  7. Agreed------to a point. If your passenger's heads snap back every time you accelerate from a stop sign---you're going to get crappy MPGs. Similarly if you drive 90 mph on the motorway---you're going to get crappy MPGs. I get 47 all day long in the city simply by avoiding lead foot driving. However, that number will plummet in the winter. (Like Nick I would have been ecstatic with 40 mpg --- especially considering my camper van gets about 10)
  8. That "Das Auto" thing was really starting to get on my nerves. Can you imagine a commercial for a country, say South Africa and then you see the words "THE COUNTRY". Please. Having said that, I think they'll be fine. But Toyota is going to bump them off the #1 spot for certain.
  9. Really? I can't speak about Paris, but when I was in the UK (London/midlands/lake district) and Ireland (Cork) for three weeks recently I saw about a dozen C-maxes. All diesel from what I remember. And some older C-maxes which were pretty damned ugly :)
  10. Put "how to replace air filter" in the search box then make sure "forums" is selected in the little option box to the right. 20 hits come up. You want PTJones's 18 replies post. You may also enjoy the K&N filter thread. Make sure you wear gloves with knuckle protection!
  11. Obi-wan voice: "USE........THE............SEARCH" Make sure "forums" is selected (not "topic") and try "air filter"
  12. I had auto-retracting side mirrors on my Audi A6 and to be honest, they were only useful on a car ferry where there is only a foot between the cars. Another thing to break, in my opinion.
  13. It's within the scope of DIY fix, provided you know what you're doing :) Not sure if Haynes puts out a service manual for the C-max.
  14. Personally I love gadgets and gauges. It would be great to do away with the efficiency leaves nonsense and have two or three customizable gauges on the right hand display, such as actual battery state of charge or transmission oil temp or engine oil temp etc.
  15. I thought I would regret not getting the Energi, but the Hybrid is an amazingly low-effort and economical car. And besides, what good's a hatchback if you can't fold the seat down and throw a load of Ikea boxes in there? I'll second the thumbs up on the pano roof and the A/C (which doesn't sap as much MPGs as you expect)
  16. I stand corrected. My rear doors won't open from the inside (child lock off) so that might be two things for the dealership to look at, when I get around to taking the car in for overdue recalls.
  17. C'mon guys..........everyone takes their attention off the road from time to time: to put a CD in the stereo, to glance at a pretty girl on the sidewalk, to tell your kids to stop fighting in the back seat. That's not why people are ploughing into each other at 35 mph. The reason is that they are driving FAR too close to each other and simply don't have time to react if someone "stops short for no reason". Insurance companies assess rear enders at 100% driver's fault in virtually all circumstances---for the simple reason that they are always the driver's fault.
  18. Sacre bleu----I got the year wrong. Car was born in November, 2013. I can assure you, as I sit here living and breathing, and having inspected the car in the bright September sunshine, that the driver's handle has a sensor, about 1/2" x 1/2", and the rear passenger door has none.
  19. Probably good questions for the ENERGI forum since this is the HYBRID forum and the majority of us do not have the ability to plug in our cars. (Not to suggest you can't be on both forums but questions here relate to features shared by both models) Good luck!
  20. Having a guy on my rear bumper drives me batty with anger. I highly recommend the slow-down gently approach outlined above.
  21. Sorry to hear about that. I see cars driving astonishingly close to each other's bumpers every day so I'm not surprised to read about these slow speed pile-ups.
  22. What about in that cavern under the armrest? You could probably fit a small dog in there. But seriously......with a dead battery, you can't open the hatch with the metal key in the FOB? Doesn't the NHTSA insist on a manual unlock option in the rare event that kids/animals/your mother-in-law gets locked in there?
  23. My '13 SEL was built in November of '12 which would suggest the rear handle sensors were added in later '13 models but then dropped in the '14 models. Very strange....
