  1. You've been reported to the moderator for your less than acceptable conduct and your personal attacks on me.
  2. Dealership has the car still - day 3 this week. The only things they have done so far is to check and see if my roof rack was the issue in 2 days of having the car. They called me to say yesterday that they had removed it and magically the sound was gone. Being skeptical of this claim (since I know it's not the roof rack and have told them so about a million times) I went to test drive it with the service writer riding along and the roof rack still off the car. 1 block down the road and what do you know - NOT the roof rack and problem still exists. As far as I can tell the sound isn't originating from the audio system, it is originating elsewhere in the car and may or may not be amplified by the audio. Whatever is causing the sound and vibration to begin with needs to get fixed. I don't want them to modify my audio to cover up whatever is causing the problem in the first place.
  3. Wow, do you work for a dealer or something? I can be cynical - that's my right. They've had over a year to figure this out and have ZERO results. I spent a lot of money on something they can't fix - yes, I'm cynical. Oh and the roof rack - NOT THE PROBLEM. And no - roof racks do not cause this kind of issue or noise. I work in the industry that sells and installs roof racks. I am very aware of the noises they make and this is not one of them. If your car doesn't make a good awful racket, great, but mine does and yes it makes me very unhappy to spend so many days without my car without getting any results. They are not doing everything they can, they are doing everything that they are willing to do that won't involve replacing parts on the car. I know a lot more about this than you seem to think I do. Stop discounting me because I am a woman and because I'm rightfully unhappy with the lines I'm being fed by the dealer. Oh and I do understand it, I just can't fix it or determine where it is coming from. It's not boom, it's more like a strange transmission noise or exhaust resonance. The dealership insists on looking at the top of the car instead of underneath where it's coming from so they will never find it. Sure, relax, relax and drive a less fuel efficient vehicle that isn't mine that is uncomfortable to drive on my daily long commute and continue to make expensive car payments on something that doesn't work right that has spent more than it's fair share of time in the shop in a year of ownership. Um, no. Maybe go find another forum to be an expert on. I'm here because my car has a problem they can't or won't fix.
  4. It apparently already is escalated - which hasn't done a lot of good so far. I've already been in touch with Chris who is the regional guy out here in Minnesota. My car is currently at the dealership and they are attempting to find the source of the issue. The dealership says they have a call in to the field engineer and to the Ford Hotline in Detroit for assistance. The information I got by phone this morning is that apparently whomever at the Hotline they spoke to is convinced it's my roof rack (even though they haven't heard the noise and are not taking into account that the roof rack was installed in May 2014 - a full 6 months AFTER the issue started). So, the dealership will be wasting time taking my roof rack off today to test that theory and then putting it back on since it's like -9 degrees here and I was not about to freeze off my fingers to put it back on since the first time I installed it it took over an hour. So I drove over to the dealership with the necessary keys etc, so they can remove the rack. Not super excited about having them remove it and then reinstall it without the instruction sheet (remeasuring for proper mounting and so forth). I have training in the install of these racks and know that precise measurement at install is key to not damaging the roof of your car or having the rack peel off when you're driving with stuff on it. Dealership didn't seem as concerned as they should about the fact that I didn't have the install sheets to give them (they are currently in my office at work) and seemed to think they could just unlock and remove it after marking it's position and that it would just go back on easy. I get the feeling they have never installed one before and certainly haven't seen one loosen during use or damage a car from improper install (which I have in my line of work). My husband is a mechanic and is fairly certain the issue is coming from the transmission - however, it doesn't seem like the dealership has been looking into that at all. They said something about an exhaust resonance when I was just there dropping off the roof rack keys. If it's an exhaust resonance, why does it only happen when it's under 15 degrees ambient outdoor temp and only at specific RPMs and happens regardless of how long you have been driving the car (ie. it happens even when you've been driving for hours on the interstate so the car is fully warmed up and the exhaust pipes would be burning hot from use).
  5. Yes, I know they say that, but why should i have to spend more of my own hard earned (and needed for other bills including the car payment) money up front and then wait for a reimbursement check? That's like giving a free loan to the extended warranty company that I already bought an expensive extended warranty from. And apparently, all local rental places were out of cars (according to the dealership) due to a large storm we had causing delivery of cars to be delayed or something. So I would not have been able to get one myself anyways. When I pay for a service product, I expect to receive that service - I don't see how that's a bad stance to take.
  6. Went to visit friends over the weekend and the car made such a racket during the 4 hour drive (each way) I could hardly stand it. Cruise control on, car completely warmed up and got to some small hills and the car starting making a loud wahhhh wahhhhh noise and everything vibrated. This continued all the way to our friends' house on each incline. By the time we got there, my ears were ringing and my body felt tired from the vibration. Outside temp during the drive was hovering around zero. No reason in the world a car sold in Minnesota should not function normally at zero. Dealership will be getting my car tomorrow (it's due for an oil change and I will be demanding they fix the messed up sync hands free they caused when they did the tsb as well as all the loose pieces of trim they did not properly put back after adjusting crap under the headliner). I will be taking anyone and everyone who works at the dealership (maybe even the head of sales) for a ride in my car to let them experience the issue first hand. I plan to refuse to pick the car up until it is permanently fixed or they replace it with one that doesn't have this problem at no charge to me. I am about to place a phone call to the regional guy from Ford who I have been in contact with to give him the heads up that this is happening. Then calling the service manager at the dealership to give him the heads up so he can line up the rental car that Ford (or maybe it's my extended warranty company) will be paying for (FYI, if your dealership says that warranty pays for a rental, be sure to clarify whose warranty. Ford's doesn't, but I purchased the overpriced extended warranty and it does - which is why I am pretty mad the last time they had my car they stonewalled and didn't get me a rental and then gave me the car back without actually fixing the problem).
  7. haha, nice joke. I've been dealing with trying to get mine fixed for over a year - I would call that already a long drawn out ordeal - with zero results so far.
  8. Well I guess that's good news and bad news all rolled into 1. We know where it's coming from, now we just have for force Ford to fix it.
  9. Let me know how this goes. I'm very curious since my hubby is convinced it's a mechanical issue - being a mechanic and all. He didn't even know it had active noise cancelling until last month.
  10. I've got just over 20K on mine. Had this issue since last winter just shortly after it reached 850 miles when the weather got below 15 degrees for the first time. Had it in a number of times for a lot of unrelated stuff covered under warranty and regular maintenance and dealership never could get it to act up. Then spring came and it stopped being obvious. As soon as it started doing it this winter (which was late cause winter has been really warm this year), I took it in and had a service writer ride along with me. Finally someone other than myself or my husband experienced it. Left the car with them that day for troubleshooting and missed work. They found that active noise cancelling TSB, but did zero work the first day. Called to ask if I could leave it another day. I asked for a rental and didn't get one, but wanted them to fix the car so I left it. They waited until the end of the next day to finish the TSB and it was too warm by that afternoon to test it. I needed to go to work the next day and they still could not provide a loaner or rental even though I have paid for an extended warranty which covers that so I had to take the car. Very next morning - WAHHHHH and it was not fixed. Called the service writer from the car on my way to work as it was doing it and told him it was not fixed. He must not have noted it anywhere because Chris the regional guy out here was talking with the serivce manager at the dealership who thought my car was fixed. Totally not fixed. Now it's been way to warm and I'm going to get stuck waiting until next winter which is what I warned Chris about. This is NOT okay. This is an expensive car and I expect it not to have this kind of issue. I have started calculating how many days it has been in the shop for all warranty related issues to begin purusing lemon law - which totally sucks, cause other than this, I love the car, but my husband is not about to let us keep a car with a warranty issue the dealership can't find or fix. FYI, mine is an Energi, so the other catch is that I can't have charged the car to experience this problem. I spent about a month not charging the car every day (and wasting tons of money in gas) hoping the weather would be cold enough to get it to act up enough to take it back to the dealer. Once the electric only charge is depleted and it runs like a regular hybrid, that's when there is a problem (this never happens in electric mode).
  11. wb8nbs - my car makes that exact same noise as in your audio file and vibrates through the seats and steering wheel. Mind if I share this file with my dealership? I took it to the dealership and got the service writer to ride along with me and his response as soon as it did it - "what the hell was that?!?!" and "make it do it again" (which I gladly did) Dealership tried that TSB for active noise cancel crap - it did NOTHING (well strike that, it messed up my hands free so now when I use my phone via bluetooth it sound like I've fallen down a well and no one can understand me). And mine only does it regularily when it's below about 15 degrees, so of course, once the dealership finshed the TSB, they didn't have time to test it that day cause it got warm and they couldn't test it the next day cause they apparently could not get me a loaner or a rental even though I had paid for an extended warranty to cover that and I needed to go to work as I had missed 2 days for this already, the very next morning I drove it and the car did that bad thing again. I called and told the dealership and the service writer did not note it so the service manager thought it was fixed. And now it hasn't been cold enough for weeks and weeks. I'm getting pretty mad about all this. if they had gotten me a loaner or rental like they should have, they could have tested the car in the morning and it would have failed the test.
  12. no, it's always on. It uses the speakers from the audio system to do it's thing, but it's always on even if the audio isn't.
  13. Had my Energi in for 3 days this week and they performed the TSB related to the Noise Cancelling system to try to rid my car of the horrendous vibration accompanied by loud WWWAAHHHH noise. Drove to work this morning and car did it again while entering the freeway and in traffic. Not fixed. Not the problem (though yes, I could see how the system could amplify sounds if not configured properly, but that's clearly not the issue with my car). Spoke with a regional service manager today and he already received escalation of my problem before I even called him. Car will have to go back for more investigation into the issue for unknown length of time. Dealership is attempting to line up a rental for me though the rental places are all sold out right now and the loaners are all borrowed out at the dealership. Regional service manager says he will have to get engineering involved in solving the issue since it's been an ongoing problem that is getting worse and it's a tricky one. I'm keeping track of how many days it's been in for warranty stuff, cause sadly, we are inching towards threshold for lemon-law buy back and I'm starting to wish I'd bought something else.
  14. My 2013, June build, is at the dealership for this right now. I started having this issue at about 800 miles and I'm at 20,520 now. Dealership had been unable to determine the problem until now because they couldn't hear the noise last winter and mine only does it at 15 degrees or below outdoor temp. We'll see if the TSB solves it, I'm not optimistic since there is a horrendous vibration that goes with the noise (which I think sounds like a very resonant WWWWWWAHHHHHHHH at about 2000 RPMS) and mine only happens below a certain outdoor temperature. I am still of the camp that something is wrong in the drivetrain. No amount of noise cancellation manipulation is gonna make that go away. I guess we will see when they finish the TSB tomorrow. 2 days I'm gonna have to miss work cause they were out of loaners at the dealership and the rental place they use is out of cars and apparently they do not have a backup - try explaining that one to your boss when your car is still under factory warranty and you can't get to work.
  15. My 2013 CMax with 5200 miles is at the dealer with unresolved issues. That's right, I'm at my first scheduled maintenance point and I am already having major issues. During the winter it would make a horrid vibration and howling type noise when getting to the second bar (whatever RPMs that is). Feels like it's coming from the tranny. Could never get it to do it for the dealer, guess I'll try again next winter. This started at 800 accumulated miles and only stopped once the weather warmed up. A month or so ago, we were driving on the Interstate and the check engine light and the little yellow wrench came on and we lost a lot of power and limped home. Took it to the dealer the next day. Tried to get the dealer to see if it was related to above mentioned vibration and noise. They kept it indoors and couldn't get it to reoffend. They said they fixed it, but I don't believe they did more than shut the light off and clear the code and check to see if it came back on. Said they reprogrammed something, but when I talked to the service advisor recently, she said it didn't look like from their notes that they had reprogrammed anything, just ran it through pin-point tests. The vibration and noise was worse than ever and happened more frequently after this visit, at least while it was still cold outside. By the time I had the time to take it to the dealer, it had warmed up too much and wasn't doing it anymore, so I didn't take it in. Once the weather warmed up, the electronics starting tweeking out. Press the button to choose EV Later in the mornings so I can run the ICE to warm up a bit and the console will say it's in EV Later, but will run the full bars of EV and the ICE will not kick in, like it's in EV now or Auto mode. Sometimes could get it the ICE to kick in when accelerating to get on the interstate, sometimes was forced to drive in EV mode when I didn't want to. Dealer can't get it to do that either (probably because they aren't doing it the exact same way I am or something). I took a photo on my phone the last time it did this of the console which I will be emailing to the dealer later today. Check engine light decided to randomly come on when leaving work on Thursday (right at start up in the parking lot, having run perfectly "normally" twice earlier in the day). Tried stopping and restarting, still on. Drove directly to dealer. It's there now. They've run some smoke tests on the Evaporative Emissions system due to the codes it's throwing, but so far, inconclusive (NOT ACCEPTABLE in my book to have an inconclusive answer on my brand new car). So they are hanging on to it and apparently in conversation with the engineers in MI. I won't be taking it back from them unless they've fixed it - really fixed it, not just made the light go away. And I'll be asking for copies of all the paperwork from previous visits with the code numbers listed. Pretty sure either the PCM is corrupted. Service advisor told me the PCM wasn't speaking with the rest of the computers in the car properly when they ran initial tests on Thursday evening. I'll be asking them what came of that initial diagnosis since they are now focusing on the evaporative emissions system and I fear they are missing the forrest for the trees. Anyone on here from Ford who wants to lend a hand in getting this solved once and for all so I don't have to count the days it's been in the shop in order to claim lemon (cause I love this car, I just want it to work as intended), I would be very appreciative of any help you can give.
