  1. In my 2014 SEL, I recently pulled up too far to one of those concrete stops in the front of parking places and almost completely tore off a boxlike thing attached to the larger undercarriage cover. It had two screws originally but only one is left. It hangs down so that it drags on the street. I taped it up for now, but would like to get a new one or take it off. It's right in front of the right front tire, just under the car. Does anyone know what that part is called? Should I just go to auto zone and ask them? It seems like even I could re-attach it if I had one that wasn't torn up. Can I just take it off? What does it do? Thanks for any suggestions.
  2. I traded my 2013 SE for a 2014 SEL with all of the bells and whistles, including auto park. But I'm afraid to try it in traffic, which is dumb. I'm sure it parks better than I do! I went on all of the car selling websites and when I saw the one I wanted, I went and bought it that day. I'm so glad I did, too. The seats are more comfortable, the sound system is far superior. I got a big sun/moon roof that I didn't even notice until the saleman pointed it out. I agree the depreciation is horrible. My fancy 2014 cost less than my plain old SE. I hope to keep this one until the wheels roll off. Just follow Cars.com and Autotrader.com everyday and be ready to buy when you see one for sale.
  3. I had this happen a few times and was freaked out about what it was. After finally finding it in the manual, I was relieved to learn it's likely a water drop on the sensor, which makes it think it's too close to something. Now that I know what it is, I don't freak out when it occasionally happens.
  4. I recently traded my 2013 SE for a 2014 SEL, and the seats are much, much more comfortable! I loved my base SE, but between the lousy audio and no navigation, I decided to trade up. I'm delighted and didn't realize that the seats would be so much better. I use to have a pillow, now I just jump in and drive. Huge difference for me. Will have to update my profile picture tonight.

Yep, mine were undone by the recall Control Module recall. Had to take it back for them to turn them back on.
  6. I have a 2013 SE without navigation or MFT. I did have a battery problem, but it was replaced by Ford for free. Otherwise, the only complaint I have is that the sound of the simple SE radio/speakers is horrible. I wish I got the upgraded version just for that reason. If you like to listen to tunes when you drive, consider the SEL wish better sound.
  7. Is it possible to upgrade the sound system of an SE? It is horrible sounding. I'd pay for more speakers and better sound if I could. Also, people tell me that my Bluetooth sounds like I'm underground. Would that improve with a sound upgrade? Is it better in an SEL? Thanks.
  8. So, how do we know if a dealer addressed all of the recalls for our cars and how do we keep track of all they need? I bought a 2013 SE with 4,000 miles 16 months ago and it had recalls, one recently, two before I bought it. I see no evidence anywhere that they've been addressed, but I really don't know how to tell. The sales guy said, oh yea, it's been done, but he didn't know anything about the C-Max. I was telling him all about them! I guess I don't really trust the dealership here in this one-horse, pick-up-driving town, either. Is there an easy way to figure this out? Thanks.
  9. I would like to add my experience in my SE with headlights on. I cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at Annapolis once in a while. The SHA now requires that headlights be on when crossing. I didn't know if mine were on during the daytime on the AUTO setting, so I turned them ON, crossed the bridge, parked the car, went to a meeting all day, and came out to find that they had stayed on for six hours (according to the lot attendant who watched the whole event unfold), until the battery went stone dead. It was my first opportunity to use the FORD roadside assistance, as I'd always been a AAA member before, and they were there quickly and jumped my car in two seconds. My advice is to only use AUTO for your headlights!
  10. To To: DaveloMA I have a 2013 CMax SE that I bought last year with 4,000K miles. It has 15,500 miles on it now. Even though it is an SE, it has the winter package, interior "mood" lighting, and I had leather seats installed for a little luxury. I did not get navigation and this saved me a few $$. I use my phone if I'm in need of directions, which isn't that often so it works for me. I believe my car must have been a fleet car, because it has features not generally included on a SE. Check out the dealership. You may be surprised. Recently my battery did go dead, but I'd left my lights on in a parking garage. It jumped started right away, and has been absolutely no problem since then, and it's been very cold. Go ahead, get a C-Max!
  11. I got the mud flaps last week. My car was dirty then and still is, so I'm not sure how well they work, but they do look good and fit well. Kind of finishes the wheel wells off. I have watched my commuter mileage all week and see no difference at all at 65 mph.
  12. I had my seats in my SE redone in leather by the dealer. They were already heated, but now they're stone leather, and I love them. I also have the parking sensors on mine.
  13. I got Ford aftermarket leather seats on an SE. They do not have spandex on the sides. They are leather. Maybe they're nicer than the ones that come on the SEL. Didn't cost that much because I didn't have to get other options that I didn't want.
  14. I don't know if you got your C-Max yet, but I got an SE with very few options, and added Ford leather seats aftermarket, because I too love them. It was way cheaper than getting the SEL and a bunch of options that I didn't want to pay for. You might consider doing that. The dealership ordered the leather and installed them in two days. They smell great!
