  1. I have to put out a word of thanks to the folks on this forum who put a lot of their time in to make this site the wealth of information that it is. It has helped me out tremendously. I;m sure there are a host of others out there that have solved their problems or had their questions answered due to the good work on this forum. Whether a moderator or a frequent contributor, I've seen nothing but professionalism across the board. Thanks!
  2. I been to JD Powers website and can't find the CMax details of the survey. I received a letter from Ford last week stating I can bring the car in for a MFT software upgrade and a hands free liftgate fix. So Ford was already addressing 2 of the shortfalls. I never considered the 2 kicks to open when locked an issue for the hands free liftgate, but I guess some folks do. One kick would be nice, though. My other complaint is the driver side seat heater quit working after about 3 months. I haven't heard that being an issue for folks, so I guess that's my bad luck. We enjoy our car very much, but I have to say that between the mileage issue and now this, I would have taken a much harder look when buying back in November.
  3. I took the C-Max through our local touchless car wash, and it did a terrible job with the rear of the car. Everywhere else was fine, but my theory is the C-Max is small enough that when the car is pulled up to the correct spot, the rear of the car is too far forward for the wash system to have any effect. No more going there.
  4. Just did a 2,200 mile trip from Arkansas to coastal North Carolina. 3 people, full of luggage, 38.5 trip average. When in NC, I was getting 45-52 mpg driving around the local area with nice flat road conditions and warm temps. Here's how the wife drove as we crept along in stop and go traffic on I-40 in the Smokey Mountains. ICE, brake, ICE, brake, ICE, brake, ICE, brake. And on and on. Glad I had a good book.
  5. Thanks for taking the time to put forth such a thorough review. It's representative of the best this forum has to offer. As we all continue to share information and experiences, we will continue to learn more and get the most enjoyment out of our car.
  6. Read my topic "SOUND SYSTEM QUIT WORKING TODAY" and give that solution a try. It worked for me.
  7. Yes, the fuses are a pain to get to and get out. I ended up filing a small groove into a pair of small needlenose pliers to have something to grab onto the fuses with. As for running the ICE, I was simply following what the thread said. If it happens again, I'll try it without running the engine. Interesting though, while pushing the accelerator will get the ICE to come on, the engine will only increase RPM maybe a couple hundred, even with the pedal floored.
  8. Fuse 69 was the instrument panel and 79 the radio. Pulling just those 2 worked for me.
  9. A big thanks to Adair and Lauren! Per the thread they directed me to, I pulled fuses 69 and 79 (underneath the glove box) ran the car with ICE for 5 minutes, reinserted the fuses, and problem solved. The inaccessible entertainment screen and voice functions came back online. Good on this forum to help folks solve these type problems. Not so good on Ford service for not knowing this. The C-Max may be new, but the thread that helped me was also for the Sync system on a 2011 Edge. Seems to me that frozen screen issues have been around a while. Bottomline, I'm happy to have this problem solved. Thanks again.
  10. The dealership disconnected the battery with no results.
  11. Thanks again for the feedback. Still no access to the entertainment system, nor will the voice activated functions work. Taking it to a dealer Sat. I'll take a look at the thread on the battery disconnect when time permits. Maybe that'll work and save my Saturday.
  12. No Microsoft screen or connected phones. Just went and tried it after sitting for a couple of hours and nothing. Thanks for the input.
  13. The sound system quit working on the C-Max today. Can't turn it on or even bring the entertainment display up on the screen. Someone posted the same problem with a video showing just what I'm seeing as they went through various ways of trying to turn the system on. Can't find the old thread. Can anyone help?
  14. I'm seeing about the same savings. I came up with about 135 bucks a month gas savings when gas was at 3.50/gal.
  15. http://www.plugincars.com/oregon-still-considering-road-use-tax-replace-gas-tax-126598.html Looks like VA isn't alone.
  16. Had a 46.6mpg 189 mile trip last week. Mid 60 degrees out, low 80s back home. I'm very happy with that...haven't had a trip that good since I got the car in late November. Looks like hybrids do prefer warmer weather. I'll wait and see how the hot weather with air conditioner use goes before I'm convinced.
  17. I started a thread on this a while back. I was having the same problem. The verdict then was that if the car was locked, it took 2 kicks to open...one to unlock and one to lift. I took this for action and it's worked fine since. This sounds funny, but here it goes... You've probably seen the C-Max ad on TV with the blue and white guy activating the liftgate with his foot. Notice how he kicks straight into the car and then takes a step back. I wasn't doing that... I was swiping my foot side to side and not stepping back. I went to the blue guy's technique and no problems.
  18. The driver's left armrest that's part of the door isn't wide enough for me to rest my arm on. I'm 6'1" and have the seat back a ways to where the armrest tapers down. It's aggravating to not have a place to put your arm on a trip. Anyone else experienced this?

    Test Drive

189 mile round trip last week in the Mississippi Delta (farmland that's flat as can be). Estimate 65 mph speed limit 30%, 55 mph 60%, city 10%. Air conditioning on the last 50 miles (temp 82 degrees) and I got 46.6 mpg. More tailwind coming home that headwind going out, but I'm pretty happy with the mpg.
  20. Wife likes the umbrella trays. I like the weather map. I call that one a hidden feature because I had no idea it was there until I read about it on this forum. Afterwards, I went to the owners manual and couldn't find it in there. Works like a champ, though. Haven't used this one, and it's already been mentioned...the storage areas underneath the rear floor mats are cool hidden features.
  21. I'm not posting as much because I've spent time with the car (4.5 months, 9,500 miles) and the learning curve is not so steep as it was as first. I still get on the forum several times a week to see what's new, though. If I can provide some input I do, but almost always there's someone more knowledgeable than me that's already pitched in. I gotta say this forum was a great resource while getting started in the C-Max.
  22. I think you're spot on stating that you expect the car to do what Ford says it will do. I like your approach in stating the facts and stopping at that. Thanks for that, and good luck working this out. I hope all works out well for you.
  23. CNCGeek, I had this same thing yesterday. It was early morning, temps around freezing. I shut the car off, turned it back on and no problems. Could it be a CVT anomaly?
  24. Ptjones, in retrospect I think you're right. It was actually a mid 30s degree day. I've had to make some day trips lately with prevailing headwinds on the way out, but in the evening when the wind dies down, no tailwind on the way home. Just my luck. It'll be interesting to hear everyone's mpg results as the weather warms up. I'm expecting to hear good things.
  25. Driving into a 15mph headwind yesterday, I had a 30.0 mpg trip. It was 1hr 15min of mostly interstate driving. I would expect a decrease in mileage with those wind conditions, but to get 30mpg? That's too much of a hit. I set the cruise at btwn 70 & 75.
