HUD display? I've never heard of that being available on CMax? HUD in my world means the dashboard gauges i.e. the speedometer is displayed in front of you on the windshield. Is that what you are referring to?
Yeah... I am a gamer so anything in front of me is pretty much a HUD. I am used to having an excessive amount of information being thrown at me at all times, so having pretty little leaves growing or just a compass feels inefficient. And since my ambient lighting is set to Red, I would like red gauges too :P

Oooo -- add on question (do I get a bonus?).
Just noticed I can get a 256GB USB 3.0 drive (a lot more money but then it WOULD hold all my music :>). However, size aside, what interests me is the USB 3.0. Can the C-Max take advantage of that technology or is it limited to 2.0 (in which case speed wouldn't be improved any and the premium to pay for that wouldn't be worth it)?
I doubt the CMax has USB3.0 in it, but I also doubt you would see much performance increase in this application even if it did. The bottleneck would more be on the software side and its ability to translate the data that it sees.
You may see a much faster speed when initially loading up the stick from your PC, however.

I once had a professor who promised to present a graph of test grades vs. number of homework problems turned in.
In the end, he announced that he would not show the graph because the correllation was negative; i.e. the students who had turned in the fewest homework problems tended to earn higher test scores than the ones who had turned in more problems..
The professor was mystified by this result, but it made perfrct sense to some of the high scorers who explained that the homework problems were really hard (and there were too many of them, and they were repetitious) and that those of us who took the time to learn and understand a few of the problems simply did not have the time or energy left to do even most of the problems. On the other hand, many of those who turned in all of the problems were more interested in completing the assignment than in actually learning anything; so they did a hurried and cursory job, which did not help them deal with getting the right answers on the test problems.
As a person who is a D- student that always aced all of my tests, I love this right here.
After reading this thread I'm starting to think our C-Max will have a Jekyll/Hyde personality -- when I drive it I'll get great mileage and my lead foot wife (despite her claims to the contrary) will bring it back down (since she'll drive it the majority of the miles we aren't likely to ever average a good MPG).
I am in the same boat. I don't see myself ever making the 600+ Miles club because I actually force my wife to drive the C-Max to save the family money.

a quick forum search here shows that someone brings this up at least once a year for the last couple years, but nobody in control of either site has ever said why they did it that way.
Apparently the same person owns all 3 domains. (the 3rd being an energi forum)

I think the ambient lighting color setting follows the key. I have mine set to red, so when I use my key the lights are red. My wife has blue.
Haven't 100% tested this yet, but it seems to be the case.
It always irritated me how the intensity knob FEELS reversed. I would assume that based on the swoosh painted on it that if you turn it right it would be dim and if you turn it left it would be bright. It is the opposite.
I understand their logic, but it bothers me anyways :P

Make an account over there and post this exact same thread over there and see what happens. Bizarro world maybe?

Thanks for the info. I think I fit into the 201A group with an early 2013 SE model.
Crossing my fingers!

Living in Wisconsin this interests me quite a bit... but I keep the C-Max in the garage and I don't have access to power in the work lot. Rats...
-
I haven't had this happen once even... but it worries me a bit. Maybe I should get a portable jump kit.
What are the factors that cause this kind of thing to happen? Heat? Humidity? State of battery bank at end of drive?

Previous owner of my 2013 Cmax had installed weathertech floor liners. I like them a lot and I am sure they will be even better when it snows and we have salt everywhere.
I had massive issues with walmart floor mats in my Toyota Rav4 which ended up with a hole being worn in the carpet where your heel sits. (live and learn)
Only beef with the weathertech mats is they don't go up high enough on the left side where my foot sits so I feel like if I removed the mat there would be a distinct dirt line on the foot rest. At least the carpet is kept spotless.

I love the empower screen--BUT..........don't be tempted to obsessively keep the car "in the blue". I found that you get better results by accelerating moderately from a stop (the gas engine will kick in) to your cruising speed.
I have actually started to do this lately because the EV just doesn't quite put out the juice that I am comfortable with for acceleration unless it is a downhill start. I find that an ICE start followed by a nice long EV coast seems to give me the best milage. I just got 51MPG on the way to work today and 48 on the way home. My wife is getting sick of me bragging.

You still haven't... Vehicle Health Reports are delived by phone, not internet. If you don't have a phone sync'ed to the car, you can't do a VHR. It it truly needed internet, I'd never get it set up right...
Frank
True true, but at some point it passes the info on to the website which I am totally down with.

I don't know if it is the same thing, but I did notice a harmonic resonance at a very specific RPM of my ICU. It is a little annoying but doesn't take much to push it over that specific RPM to make things quiet again.
Maybe I can take video of it to see if it is similar.

I found out about the recall by having my C-Max perform a vehicle health report, actually. That is a nifty feature, for sure. Never had my car talk to the internet before.

I guess my #1 problem was that I wasn't exactly LOOKING for this place. I stumbled upon it when googling the recall my C-Max is under and saw you guys talking about it.
I actually have a million questions and theories swimming around in my head that I was going to try to formulate into an ask.reddit post that was going to get downvoted into oblivion and never seen by anyone with any sort of legitimate input. I have a feeling those questions may fare better here. I will try to get everything sorted out later after browsing around to see if my questions have already been answered and seeing how people react to certain questions.
My background:
I am 28 from Wisconsin. Married with a 9 month old (which means a big ass car seat with all the side impact protection you could ever want thanks to the wife's paranoia).
I have a 25 mile commute to work which means I drive around 260-270 miles a week.
Bought a USED 2013 C-Max Hybrid for around 18k. Had 5000 miles. It was one of only 2 used C-Maxes in the entire area and had the lowest mileage of the two. There were several new ones to choose from but sticker price started at around 26k. I feel like I got a good deal. This is the youngest car I have ever purchased.
I am a Network Administrator who is a techy and a gamer. I find this personality has a direct influence on how I drive. I primarily drove a Toyota Rav4 before which got around 24MPG. I was never big into minmaxing (a gamer term) when it came to fuel consumption. I think you guys call it hypermiling. That all changed when I got my C-Max. Getting those instant results for MPG, brake coaching, etc really turned my driving habits on their head.
My lifetime average shows 43.2MPG (reset when I purchased). I frequently get about 47MPG on my commutes, typically not below 44 unless it was a bad day. Because of this my lifetime average continues to creep higher.
I run Empower on the left screen which has been invaluable in training my foot to stay in EV. HVAC is typically on because of the little one in the back. I take him to daycare every morning and pick him up on the way home.
Looking forward to engaging in some discussions!
today MFT decided to ignore me

I was on the phone with my wife once when it froze up on a specific thing she said, so it was just playing a loud AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
I whipped out my phone and turned off "bluetooth headset" and the sound stopped. Turned it back on and all was fine.
Probably was an issue with my phone, but it was freaky.
