  1. Well, only Ford knows. But I myself will continue to doubt it would have been included had there not been an Energi. Mostly because they probably would not have felt the need to develop it.
  2. Activated TC? I thought it was always on? I'm not saying that is what is happening, or that TC should be engaging, but it uses the ABS system to stop the wheel from turning. It could be engaging due to an error. TC is generally disabled above a certain speed (20 MPH in my past vehicles, but I haven't checked this one_. You may be thinking of the stability control, which is used at speed.
  3. The ULEV vs PZEV relates to the way the CARB rules work. The requirement is that the vehicle get better mileage than 90% of the vehicles in that class (or something like that), and the manufacturer also has to warranty the cars for a longer time. The Hybrid and Energi engine will both run for a couple of minutes if it engages at all - this is due to EPA rules about heating up the pollution controls. As for deposits, my Energi isn't showing them, but an Energi will run the engine a lot less, so maybe it takes longer. My oil change interval is 20K.
  4. Be sure and turn on the Bluetooth audio so the directions come through the speakers...
  5. I have an Energi, but have run the HVB down several times, so I'm using the normal hybrid mode when I get near home and EV+. My experience indicates that EV+ will not go below the bottom of the available hybrid battery; it will kick on the engine rather than allow the hybrid battery to go below Ford parameters. My personal opinion is that EV+ was created for the Energi models, but because the software is common to both the Hybrid and Energi, the capability is in both vehicles.
  6. In the past week I've seen about a half dozen Ice Storm, including 3 Energi.
  7. That sounds more like traction control, which invokes the antilocking braking to resolve temporary loss of traction.
  8. My 2014 Energi has a quirk. On longer highway trips I change it to RPM and Temperature. When I change the MyView, it will revert back to what it was before the next time I start up. But then it goes back to the settings again the start up after that. I've never left it past two start ups, because I switch it back to my "normal" view when driving in town. It seems a minor programming bug, but similar to what you describe. I honestly don't recall what the stock MyView display was.
  9. No problem here. I see your point on the difference. What you can do is turn it on, then turn it off. With the doors closed that gives you 10 minutes of power for the radio. Some people (including dealers) seem to forget that the C-Max has to keep some power running at all times. To keep the door sensors for the keyless entry enabled, for example. It isn't much power, but the car does need to be driven periodically. I recall the owners' manual indicating once every three days or so, but I haven't read the manual lately (and I drive mine every day).
  10. The details are coming back to me now. The speculation among owners was that it was the braking system on the Escape Hybrid that wasn't up to more than 1K pounds. I believe some folks towed up to 2.5K using trailers with brakes.
  11. The leather pocket is there on my 2014 Energi as well. 303A.
  12. Hitting the ON button without having your foot on the brake is equivilent to the accessory position. It powers up the electronics but does not allow the propulsion to start up.
  13. I probably should have said "small engine with a CVT".
  14. I would love just one more inch in height. EDIT: Of the door sills off the ground, I mean, or the bottom of the car.
  15. Like I said, my main use for the console is to store the large cleaning cloth I use for my glasses, and lots of USB cables and high power chargers. I can easily retrieve those through the open area with the stock tray, but would not be able to do so with this tray. Everyone has their own best use, I suppose. On my Ford Escape hybrid, I took the entire center console tray out - and it was deep. That left a humongeous hole to store lots of stuff in.
  16. I'll chime in here, having owned an AWD Escape Hybrid before my C-Max Energi. - I would prefer the Escape becasue the curbs here are too high for the C-Max - I have to pull the car away from the curb for the passengers to depart. - I liked the AWD, and might get it again, even though it lost about 2 MPG by having it. It was exceptionally handy on vacations and even during the rainy season here. - The FEH was rated for 1000 lb towing. You just can't tow with a small engine like this. Someone mentioned the Toyota Highlander - that has a v6 engine. - I'm running 50 lbs in my tires right now, but in general the FEH was not that much worse for ride. Those tires maxed out at around 35 for me.
  17. Forget the paint protection, that is generally a gimmick. I plan to purchase the ESP before 30K. I will price online, show it to the dealer and let them match if they like.
  18. You know, I actually prefer mine the way it came. I can pull out my cleaning cloth or USB cable without removing the tray.
  19. You know, a Escape Hybrid would be just about the only thing that would for sure make me turn in my lease!
  20. Sorry, I'm not following most of that. Whatever benefit Ford gets from the C-Max hybrid, having only the Fusion Hybrid would give even more benefit. Unless there is market for this form factor in a vehicle, it will be dropped. This car reminds me of my Freestyle. A great car, but it only lasted one generation, and Ford never advertised it. One could postulate that the Flex is the follow on, I suppose - it is very similar inside.
  21. They can do event better on CAFE by having only the Fusion Hybrid and Energi. They have better numbers than the C-Max. It is all a matter of economics. If Ford can sell enough of them to make it worthwile to continue the plant operation in the US, then they will do it. They won't go to the expense of retooling for a new model if they don't think sales will support it. If there aren't sufficient sales to support it, from their perspective it would be better to convert the plant to build FFH or FFE. Ford was intent on challenging the Prius with the C-Max - a single purpose hybrid only model. I don't think they are posting a serious challenge to Toyota with the C-Max, as much as I love the vehicle. The last wildcard is union contracts, I don't know what the status is on that one. The C-Max is built in Michigan. But that wouldn't matter if they convert the plant to something else.
  22. So you think the C-Max will go away in favor of a Transit? Interesting. I don't see them making an Energi, or probably even a hybrid, out of the Transit Connect (work van). That would reduce the effective weight it could carry.
  23. My 2014 Energi definitely doesn't do that. I sometimes pull the rear handles to make sure the door is actually locked.
  24. Serving a purpose, yes. Selling, no. And auto manufacturers are driven by sales.
  25. I meant a Focus hybrid, which would get even better mileage.
