  1. No we cant. While you might not like my word choices, I dont like your censorship. So feel free not to read my posts if they bother you. I dont give a damn if there are Ford reps on this forum or not. I dont like stealerships that take advantage of people in hard places by charging them $14,000 for a transmission job that takes $2,000 to complete. You think my language is bad, apparently you dont get out much. My language should be the least of your concerns. Dealerships of every brand have a VERY LONG history of completely screwing people over, taking them for a ride, doing everything possible to squeeze every possible dime out of a customer with absolute zero regard for anything but money.
  2. I dont know why ford cannot incorporate all this stuff into ETM. There is no reason why every option that can be changed with a scan tool cant be integrated into the ETM to be changed as well.
  3. Do they use Garmin maps, or what? Who writes their maps? I wonder if you can get maps straight from the real manufacturer.
  4. Daytime running lights came enabled from the factory on my CMAX. Apparently if you pay $40 they will enable it at the factory as an option.... Anyway, how can I disable DRL? The Ford stealershit wanted $100.
  5. I love seeing drivers get pissed off about other drivers in the left lane. Funny thing is the guy in the left lane is doing the speed limit, so while breaking the law (speeding) drivers are complaining about others breaking the law... Pretty ridiculous. If the dude in the left lane is driving the speed limit, you have no grounds to get pissed off as you are asking another driver to help permit you to break the law by speeding.
  6. How do the gears stay lucubrated without affecting MG1 and MG2? I suspect having a 300V motor submerged in ATF could cause a problem, so I am curious how they get ATF on the gears but not the electric motors.
  7. How does the ICE propel the vehicle? In the video above it shows the ICE is connected to MG1, but independent of the output shaft and MG2. I also recall he mentioning something along the lines that the ICE is not actually connected directly to the output shaft.
  8. So I know the CMAXes come with the standard radio, the MFT or the Sony MFT. What is the difference between the MFT and Sony MFT specifically? Also, do all Sony MFTs come with navigation?
  9. Because they dont. Air filters rarely improve MPG. They are most useful at wide open throttle. Why risking damaging the MAF sensor to save maybe $40 in filters over 120000 miles? If you have to have the dealer replace that sensor, dont be supprised if they try to charge you $1000. If you went to vegas and bet $1000 on slots and the machine said you have some chance of winning $40 and some chance of loosing $1000, but nothing in between, would you take that bet? Pretty shitty bet to take...
  10. Let's see some numbers. Plenty of numbers on mixed drives and city, but I am interested in knowing what people get out of a 100% highway trip. I am talking set the cruise control and drive until it's time to refill the tank—standard interstate driving. post MPG and speed.
  11. I was watching some videos on how the transaxle works on the Prius: So basically it looks like there is the ICE, a flywheel and clutch combo, MG1 and 2, a planitary gear system, and then a final drive gearing set and that's pretty much all. Then I was watching how CVTs work on standard automobiles: So does the CMAX not have an actual steel-belted CVT like shown in the video above? Is it just the MG1/2 system and that's it with no real transmission? Anyone know how the CMAX transaxle differs from the Prius' as shown in the video?
  12. I could do that, but a 10A battery charger would take all day to charge the battery. For a 500whr battery, you are looking at like five hours on a battery charger to fully charge it. I dont drive five hours everyday. When I am living out of my car there are days where I only drive a few miles. If I could run 40A to the battery, that would charge it quicker but not so quick that it damages the inverter. Isint the inverter 2000W anyway? And 100% of the 12v power is supplied directly by the inverter, correct?
  13. I am interested in running a dual battery setup to run a fridge in the back of my car while it's parked. I travel a lot and live out of my car for extended periods. Anyway, if I use a relay/ silonoid to isolate the batteries, I am wondering if when I close the relay on the silonoid if the current draw from the dead battery will be too much for the inverter. I suspect that each night I will discharge the battery to about 30-40% power remaining, so when it comes time to charge it in the morning, I am not sure how much current it's going to pull. I know dead auto batteries can draw 100A after the car is jump started, which is a lot for the CMAX. Any ideas? Ways to limit the current to the secondary battery? I was thinking of just going with a 20A or 40A relay, but I suspect what might happen is if the second battery tries to draw more current it will just overheat the relay vs actually limit current to the battery.
  14. So in your example the overall difference to own is $12 per tire between the two examples. So clearly the FuelMax would be the winner as the FuelMax is more than $12 per tire less than the Energy Savers. I would probably venture to say the Michalen Defenders are one of the least expensive to own. They are LRR tires but they have 80,000 - 90,000 mile treads. As with most things in life, when you are getting to the top of the line you pay a ton of money for only a slight increase in performance. Top of the line is very rarely the most efficient to own.
  15. What? Toyota is well known for relibility. Ford is not. Simple fact. Imports seem to do better on that front than domestics. Ford seems to be getting better though on some of their modes.
  16. Cant you read all OBD codes in the ETM menu? Can you clear codes out of ETM?
  17. Well I dont think you can compare regular at one gas station with premium at another. Try a tank of regular at a Shell, the go back to the same station and try a tank of premium and see what you get. Also, if you only get 1-2mpg more with premium, it's not worth the money. Premium is minimal $0.20 more per gal than regular, and at 1-2mpg more you are only saving a cent or two per gallon. It's also well known that ethonol has a lower energy contant than gasoline and E10 gas will get lower mpgs than E0. This has been known for decaids.
  18. When the car is in the ready position, but in park, and the ICE comes on to charge the battery, anyone know how many GPM of fuel the vehicle uses? Sometimes I sleep in my car and it can be 100 degrees out. I have always wondered how much it would cost to just keep the A/C on all night. I can do the math on ICE on/ off time, but I need to how how much fuel the ICE uses while charging the HVB at ide.
  19. Why not, plenty of Priuses almost that old. Oh wait, its a Ford not a Toyota, so that's the problem, right?
  20. Well damn, that's pretty good then for city. That's better than even the Smart car gets, and not that much worse than the CMAX. The real question would be how much extra does this feature cost. If it costs as much as a full on hybrid, than yea it sucks.
  21. Did that change as part of the fuel economy ECU flash? What did they change about the shutters?
  22. Agreed, do not give any business to the stealershit. They will rip you off unbelievably. You will pay $3000 for something worth $300.
  23. Okay, well non-hybrids do not have warm-up periods. You start the car and drive it. So how is it any different between starting a standard car and driving it compared to programming a hybrid to do the same thing? Standard cars do not have warm-up periods. Even with no warm-up period, a hybrid still produces far less emissions overall than just about any non-hybrid car out there.
  24. I was not referring to your post .i was referring to the OP's post on page one. He said the shutters are open when the vehicle is stopped.
  25. Why would you use premium? You get absolutely no benefit out of higher octane fuel if your vehicle does not require it. Premium fuel is anything but, it's just normal gas with a higher percentage of octane content. The word "premium" is purely marketing. You do not get better MPG, HP or anything else from premium if your vehicle does not require it. This has been studied over and over again and there are a million websites that talk about it. Just gooogle it.
