  1. Thanks. Necessity is definitely the mother of invention. Hero surpised me with a growth spurt and got too big for his crate, which I was using in the back. I don't want that furry bundle of chaos anywhere near me when I'm driving...
  2. Top pipe is cut to 34" Bottom pipe is cut to 41.5" The two ends are cut 5" There's a small length joining the 45 to the T on each side, but not long enough to show. It's held in place in the car by a friction fit, so check with a small length of pipe that it will be a snug fit on your car first.
  3. Sorry, no. It's just 1/2" PVC. You'll find the couplings in the plimbing ilse and the conduit in the electrical. I used gray PVC adhesive and no primer to minimize mess. If I get a minute I'll post dimensions. So far it's working well.
  4. To remote start car: Click lock and then the circular arrow symbol (top of pad) twice. To remote stop car: Click the circular arrow symbol. I'd love to find a kyfob holder that slips over the fob and completely covers/protects all the switches. I very rarely press them (probably more often for them to get pressed accidentally).
  5. I don't see why not. I'm pretty sure it would be the same. Check the gap between the seat and the plastic body panel. If you can push a 1/2 PVC pipe a few inches down there with a snug fit it should work. The strap was added - used to keep 5g water bottles in place.
  6. Quite likely. Though I did pass another black Energi north on 85 yesterday, and there is at least one other in Morgan Hill.
  7. I thought I'd share this with the group. I've seen a few of these PVC dog barriers on other forums but this one is really easy to make and is really easy to put in and take out. I used lengths of electrical conduit PVC, a couple of conduit 90 degrees and plumbing T and 45 degree couplings. Some hammerite over the white couplings otherwise left the conduit grey (as I know my dog will be biting these parts. The ends just slot snugly into the gap between the rear seat and the pastic interior, at least on my Energi.
  8. My dealer said they are going to give priority to the current owners (I assume due to safety concerns). If parts get delivered in numbers and the fix is easy there shouldn't be a backlog, otherwise you could wait longer. They said they would call me in a week or two with an update.
  9. Late to this thread, but from my experience rolling hills definitely can increase MPG. My Energi (rated 42mpg - lower than the Hybrid) gave me 47mpg on a 65mph rolling hill run from San Francisco to San Jose on the I-280 (running in hybrid mode, little wind, hot day). I only get about 40mpg on the alternative flat CA 101 route at similar speeds. My EV miles were about half the journey - far more than I would normally get on a flat run at 65mph. I figure this is like pulse and glide, but more efficient as you aren't having to accelerate to speeds higher than 65 (with the assiciated increase in drag) to get a 65 average speed. FYI, I used grade assist the whole way.
  10. The Energi left dash display can show the power draw for the climate control system. From my experience, starting off in 100F heat after being parked in the sun, the AC at 72F Auto starts off around 4KW and over a period of a few minutes drops to about 0.5KW where it stays. Since the AC draws from the HV battery, and the engine would be needed to replenish that in Hybrid mode, you would expect a drop in MPG. On a long trip, the 0.5KW shouldn't be a big impact. Parking with a windshield sun shade does help a lot. It's a big piece of glass... FYI, AC isn't nearly as bad as heating when running an Energi in EV only mode - that appears to draw a constant 4-5KW. When possible we tend to use the seat warmer instead. For the Hybrid the engine heat would be used.
  11. A better forum would be http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com. But to answer your question, the car indicates its estimate of the mileage based on previous driving and current energy use. Uphill runs and high speed can reduce your miles. Downhill runs can increase it due to regen. My guess would be that your variation is due to AC or heating use, however.
  12. I bought an iTronics ITB-100HD last year http://www.ebay.com/itm/281108181326. If you google it you should find some good reviews and comparisons, plus software updates (probably included by now). The quality is pretty good for such a low cost camera. You can certainly pick up the licence plate of the car in front. It records in a loop onto SD card and has GPS and motion sensors. When I had it plugged into the front power socket it would work for an extra 20 mins or so after turning off (recording in "parked" mode - only scene movement). Now I have on the "ignition" fuse it turns off immediately - I may tinker with that one day. I mounted it discretely in front of the rear view mirror - the rain sensor cover obscures just a little on the right, but not bad. No shots of meteors or people jumping on the hood yet, but you never know when... I editied the link...
  13. I bought the same one a little over a month ago - we've had a few days nearing 100 lately. Works great. Takes about 20s to put up and take down. It did force me to finally wire my dashcam into the headliner though - navigating that thing past the power cable was just too much effort.
  14. Not sure this is a car or a phone feature. I like listening to Slacker radio via Bluetooth from my Android phone. I found that when I park and then return to start the car Slacker radio picks up where it left off without me touching anything - phone in pocket. Very nice. I do whish MFT had Applink but you can at least pause and skip on the big display. Beats Syrius.
  15. With an Energi you can gain a number of miles back on the battery with a good downhill run.
  16. Hi George - a better place for this is the Energi version of this forum. It has a section for charging issues: http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com/forum/22-batteries-charging/ Myself - I have never had problems at 110V. Make sure you try turning off value charge (if you use the MFM mobile app or the MFT settings in the new version). That gets many people.
  17. Do note that the 300A has the exact same screen and electronics behind it as the 301A. They program it to be with or without Nav at the factory by loading keys and software.
  18. I suggest you browse the Energi forum http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com. There's plenty of discussions on KWH needed to charge, 120 vs 240V, solar etc. But if your panels are grid tied (they'd have to be if you want to charge overnight) it is just a matter of counting your production vs consumption, the C-Max is just part of that equation.
  19. I'm very happy using Google maps on my Android. I have the proclip mount (www.proclipusa.com) which works very well. I specifically did not want Ford Nav because I knew it could never beat Google's. I certainly couldn't justify paying >$1K for it. I would have liked the rear view camera, but again I couldn't justify the cost as it comes with a higher package. Pretty happy with the 300A sound system. I'd suggest you hear both at a dealer. Also, the car Nav won't let a passenger enter an address when driving, but you can talk it in - something more to consider compared to a portable device.
  20. "Performing scheduled system maintenance, please wait..." Yeah, I found that pretty amusing too. I guess they thought a Blue Screen wasn't appropriate. "Unscheduled" would have been more honest. I also have a Galaxy Nexus. I think most people get these reboots though once in a while. I've had I think three in 3 months.
