  1. Is that a good place to put it? :)

    Paul

I have been conducting tests w my car. I have not had one blow away yet. I think it will be spotted by the driver before getting in the car.

I thought about placing the card under the windshield wiper. I will test this on my car too. I think it's a long reach and the retracted wiper is so low that the card may not be spotted easily. It's a cool 91 deg here right now. I'm going out to try under the wiper now.

Much easier to reach the wiper than I thought it would be. Card is easily visible outside the vehicle from the front or side. Card is barely visible from inside the vehicle - only a small corner of the card extends above the black frit on the bottom of the glass.

  2. There is a white c-max parked on a street near my route to work that I always see every day that was thinking about putting a flyer on to tell them about this forum.you never know.

    Good idea but...

The race car pix my turn off many/most who will think it's for a tint/alarm shop or mobile detailing business though.

Would have been better to keep it plain without a car.

Most hybrid owners aren't into sports cars..let say...

    :)

    Just saying

My card purchase was a low budget operation. The car shown is stock art on one of their basic card designs. I am sure they would have been happy to collect twice as much money from me and inserted a photo I had of a C-Max. I wasn't interested in paying that extra charge.

  3. Zone 1090,

Did they replace the seat covers also? Did the dealer do the job or a professional?

    Thanks

I asked, both on this forum and at my Ford dealer, about what would be replaced under the seat back recall if a seat back frame was found to have defective welds.  In both places I was told that only the seat back frame would be replaced - everything else would be transferred from the old seat back frame to the new seat back frame.  I asked the dealer if they would be doing the transfer or if they would send the car to a local upholstery shop.  They had not done one yet and they were not sure how they would be doing it.

    See posts #42 and #43 at  http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3691-announcing-advance-notice-14c03-compliance-recall/page-3

This reminds me that I need to call my dealer and find out where the part is for the one seat back frame we need to have replaced.

  4. Tires going flat?  Are you referring to discussions about the C-Max not being equipped with a spare tire/jack/lug wrench and what, if anything, to do about it?

As to your question - we love our C-Max and absolutely would still buy a C-Max if we had to do it again.

One of my sons has a 2008 Mazda 3 (manual transmission) - it has been an excellent car for him.

  5. Thanks for all the positive comments on the cards.

I wanted to do this on a low budget.  I knew there was a "250 free cards" offer and other coupons/discounts available from Vista Print.  Ordering from Vista Print is similar to buying a car.  You start with the basics (stock card with stock artwork and stock positioning of text) and then there are unlimited options to customize art, customize text position, font, and color; add art and text to the back of the card; special papers and special inks.  These options are all enticing and all add cost.  The "250 free cards" offer is for a basic card and does not include free shipping.  I found another coupon online that discounted the cards and included free shipping - this turned out to be a better deal.

My cards have stock artwork and stock text positioning, color and font.  I came up with the text.

I looked at the price of perforated card stock.  A pack of 250 perforated blank cards costs about the same (+/- $1) of getting 250 basic cards printed and delivered from Vista Print if you use an online Vista Print coupon.

I had cards with me when I was out yesterday.  I saw one other C-Max on the move, but in two blocks it turned in a direction I didn't want to go.  So, no cards delivered yet.  There is a white one I often see parked in the same spot on Wednesday afternoon.  I hope I will see it again today.

  6. Really?

We are not the victims of some grand Ford conspiracy.

If anything, this forum has encouraged an increasing number of potential buyers to select the models and equipment groups with the fewest reported problems as they arrange their PURCHASE of a C-MAX.

What the Ford C-MAX Hybrid Forum has accomplished is far more significant - established a real sense of community among a hugely diverse group of people all across North America who share one common interest: C-MAX.

This is ABSOLUTELY NOT a place where the disgruntled owners come only to rant and rave and claim ownership of their victimhood.

Yes, these forums have chronicled the experiences, both positive and negative, of hundreds of people buying and leasing a C-MAX.

This forum is a living body of knowledge of the collective owners and would-be owners that is helping many of us everyday by providing tips and advice (often delivered with a dose of laughter) about how to get the most from our hybrids, as well as sharing our experiences, both the good and the bad.

Yes, some owners have serious, on-going issues with their cars. As do a small number of owners of every mass-produced vehicle.

And thankfully, there are established rules and processes already in place to protect the rights of both the buyers and the manufacturer.

Yes, some owners have successfully pursued Ford buybacks or lemon-law replacements. And by sharing their experiences here, have undoubtedly helped others achieve positive outcomes.

C-MAX issues have been and are being addressed by Ford on a continuing basis. No, maybe not as quickly as everyone would like, but the issues ARE being discovered, investigated, AND CORRECTED on a case-by-case basis.

The difficulty in diagnosing and fixing these issues is that, unlike the GM ignition-switch recalls, there is not just one single part or supplier or design or assembly-line practice that is causing every reported problem. If "it" was easy to fix, "it" would be fixed already.

The situation for any C-MAX owner, even a disgruntled one, is far from hopeless. Ford is still building the C-MAX. They have not and are not abandoning either the car or the owners. And there are still legal mechanisms in place.

No, I'm not a Ford employee, nor did I ever work for Ford, and they're not paying me to write this. I just hate to see someone mis-characterize their apparently bad ownership experience as being typical of every C-MAX owner.

    Bravo Kostby, bravo!!!

  7. So, 3 days at the dealer shop last week.  A lot of back and forth with corporate and they got this fixed.  Well it was fixed for 2 or 3 days, but now it is back to doing the same thing when I change from 99.9 sports radio to 91.5 public radio.  Oh well, I will ask about it again when we bring our C-Max back in a few weeks when they have a replacement driver's seat back frame for us.

  8. Harbor Freight several years ago like this one. I've seen this one at a lower price occasionally and you usually can find a 20% off coupon on one item. Just a caution and that is a floor jack doesn't work well unless its wheels / rollers can roll such that the jack moves as the car is being raised.

I was going to ask how much it weighs, but I found the weight at the link you provided - 42 lbs.

Does it roll around in the back of your car? Leak oil/hydraulic fluid?

  9. Bill-N

Thanks.  The instructions in the first post on this thread and in the "2013-2014 C-MAX, Focus and Fiesta - Several Radio Issues" thread are the same.  Unfortunately, at least for my C-Max, the fix is apparently not as easy as these instructions make it sound.  My dealer has had the car for two days and the tech has been spending a lot of time consulting with corporate.  At the end of the day yesterday I told them I needed the car back at noon today.  When I went by at noon I saw it was still inside being worked on.  The service advisor went into the shop to see what was going on.  When he came back he said they were still working on it and that he would give me a loaner.  So while they work this out, we are driving a black Fiesta.

Ironic that this fixing this cosmetic radio issue is the first difficult repair we have had.  All of our previous updates went smoothly.  This one not so smooth.

  10. Wendelina,

I love how most people just ignored your post and used the opportunity to brag about their mileage and the fact that they have trouble free, or relatively so, cars.  I have a lemon too.  My C-Max is a POS.  Don't get me wrong.  I love the car.  I wish I didn't have to take it in to the dealer every other month.  My service issues make yours look tame.  Canister purge valves replaced multiple times, broken plastic bits, stop now check engine light, the lower carriage engine cover coming off on the road, and my all time favorite - the total meltdown of the main power box causing me to lose power while on the road and roll to a stop.  The whole central power box literally melted.  I had only had my car three months and probably had it in my possession only half that time.  It's now a year and a half and 28,000 miles later.  The fun hasn't ended yet.  In fact, my lemon is back in the shop now getting a recall fixed and having the front end looked at to figure out what the thumping noise is.  When I get my official service record back from my Service Rep (who is LITERALLY on my speed dial), I'll post every date and problem I've had with this piece of junk in another post.  My dealer has been great about fixing it and has handled my crying and screaming fits very professionally. :) Ford decided to give me a year's worth of oil changes for my trouble.  Like that means a lot when I spend so much time worrying about my car shutting off and killing me while I'm on the highway.

So here is some advice from a fellow C-Max lemon owner, perhaps what you were looking for in your original post:  They pretty much agree it's a lemon, although the official line is "yes, it's been in for service more than most cars".  The service manager has recommended trading it in rather than pursuing the Lemon Law.  In Texas, that could take a year and the car depreciates over that time.  You're only offered what the car is worth at the time they buy it back.  If you trade it in, it's still under warranty and you will get the value it's worth now.  It sucks.  For me, that means I've lost $15k on it and can't afford to get a car nearly as nice as this one.  I actually bought the extended warranty when I purchased the car because it's a hybrid and a drive a lot.  If you go with the Lemon Law, you're looking at a great deal of time to resolve, and you're going to get a low value for it anyway.  You know, if they just swapped my car out for a C-Max that works, I would be happy and move on with my life.  It only seems fair.  Take my piece of junk and give me one that works!  Seriously, an even exchange for the same model!  It's a great car, it really is.  I just feel like this one is a rolling deathtrap!

I'm currently shopping for replacements.  Honestly, if I buy a used car for what I can get for the C-Max that is reliable, I'm probably still ahead.  Oh, and I currently get around 39mpg.  Yet another nuisance.  Sure, some people get great mileage.  They also have cars that aren't lemons!  I drive my car in the most frugal manner possible and I still don't get the "revised" advertised mileage.

I'm also curious as to why the official Ford service rep on the boards, Ashley, hasn't responded to you!  I mean, she's responded to other people within this post, but not you?  My, that's helpful.

Best of luck.  Keep us posted on your progress.

    Colleen

    Colleen -

Sorry you are having so many troubles with your vehicle and that your state's lemon law is so weak.

What is the main/central power box?  I don't recall seeing that term before on this forum.
