  1. Update for our Cmax. We now have over 58,000 miles no problems for the last 2 yr or so. Just normal maintenance, oil changes, filters etc Still running on the original tires although I will have to replace them before winter this year. Everything is working as it should. Our Cmax is a daily driver usually 60 to 100 miles, we live out in the mountains east of Albuquerque and work in ABQ. So back and forth Monday to Friday. Lifetime MPG is 41.9

Sorry it took so long to reply to this post, I selected the 128 q post by reviewing the cars that it did fit, and then comparing the roof line contour to the C-Max, the q128 seems to be the best and it worked well, I had to do several re-adjustments to find the best fit. but it worked perfect in the end. Also getting a solid 42mpg in winter driving here in New Mexico, this car has saved me a lot of money on gas.
  3. Fresh update on our CMax, Took the car in for the new powertrain update, this is the one that let's you drive up to 85mph in EV. Since we have a 40 mile drive downhill to work in the mornings. I thought this would be a interesting test. We were averaging 39mpg round trip before the update. After the update we are up to 45mpg. The downhill trip shows 60 to 70 mpg and the uphill coming home runs about 44mpg, big improvment for us. Thanks Ford! I don't know what the update number is, we just got a letter saying to take it in to the dealer, it took him about 3 hours to do the update and so far no problems with anything, our total mileage is just over 30K and we have been driving the car about 10 months
  4. update at 28K, our C-Max is still doing great, the wife is beginning to like the car, she mentioned the other day that it drives nice, she being a truck girl. Had the software update installed last month, it took the dealer 2 days to figure out how to do it and then he did not have the right chip to do the install, had the chip overnighted to the dealer and he had it fixed the next day, we like the new features, temp on the display and easy Bluetooth hookup, plus separate music and phone.

Glad to hear you like you C-Max, I love ours, the wife didn't think to much of it to start, too small she said, she likes trucks, but after 28K, she mentions the other day that it is nice to drive. She has a 40 mile drive one way to work through the mountains here in New Mexico, We avg 39.7 but have a lot of up and down to drive. It is a SEL and has the pano which I like, makes the car feel much more open. No problems with the car except the computer upgrade last month, took the dealership 2 days to figure out how to do it and then they did not have the chip they needed, the upgrade changes are nice be sure to get them.
  6. thanks for the update, still driving my c-max daily, avg as settled in at 39 to 40, we drive about 120 miles a day, up and down the canyon freeway, Maybe it would do better with a flat route, but we don't have that option. anyway we are happy to get 40, it is better than the 15 mpg that the GX56 got. LOL
  7. Same here, clock is off random amounts of time, has happened about 4 times now.
  8. Just ready to turn 10K on my C-Max. We are running a steady 37-38 in 20' degree weather. 80% highway, 65 to 75. It was doing around 40 untill the weather turned colder. FYI Did have a strange glitch the other day. Drove into town about 35 miles. Parked for a couple of hours, when I came out and started the car, the engine took off running wide open. Shut it off started it again same thing. I finnally realized that I had the heater turned way up. (engine runs when you turn the heater up, right) turned the heater off and it started and ran normal. No other problems, except the seat heaters are really hot even on low.
  9. I agree, anything higher than 1 is too hot, I have a ford truck and the heated seats are just perfect on it, But the C-Max will burn you up. LOL

  11. My wife wanted me to post this comment on the glove box, she says that anything you put in the glove box just falls out when you open it. Plus it is so far under the dash you can't see what is in there, she ends up taking everything out just to find what she wants. Since no one is happy if she is not happy. This is not a good thing! So--- Ford Please fix the glove box, redsign it and make it a retro kit to all of the C-Max's already on the street LOL. Anybody else have this experience??????
  12. Now have 7500 miles on the car, The mileage is finally getting better. Our usual daily trip of 100miles + is now up to 39 to 40 mpg. I see 50mpg + going into town (downhill) and 33 coming home (all uphill). This is 70% freeway 70mph + and 30mpg in the city. I was sort of happy at 33mpg, but I like 40 a lot better. not using any special driving techniques to get this mileage. Current weather conditions are daytime highs in the 50s and nighttime lows in the 30s. Maybe it will do better in the summer. Starting to see lots of C-Max's on the streets in town.
  13. FYI I have a 2012 F350 which had to be in the dealers shop 3 times in the first 3 weeks after I bought it. Seems the sensors in the DEF tank did not work, The dealer finally installed the latest software update, no problems since, Now has 18K not a single issue. My C-Max now has 6500K, the only problem has been the fuel filler warning which the dealer fixed in about 10 minutes. No other problems.
  14. Having owned a Mercury Mariner Hybrid for 3years/120,000miles then regretting selling it. The C-Max looked to me, like a great car and it is. Bought a SEL just over a month ago, 5,600miles already and it is better than the Mariner hybrid in every way, you will not be sorry if you buy one. I like all of the features that Ford put into the car, rain sensing wipers, one push, roll up/down windows, etc.
  15. Thanks for the snow driving update, I am interested in hearing how the c-max does on icy patches on snow covered freeways, We do a lot of mountain driving in the winter. (northern New Mexico) The roads are cleared but lots of slush and slick spots, any update you can provide would be appreciated.
  16. Thanks for the good information Laurel, I too found out the I knew more about the C-Max than anyone at the dealership did. I got the SEL because, I was driving an Infiniti QX and I wanted all of the same features, plus I think the resale/trade value is more if you have all of the options. Of course you have to pay for them up front but in the end they help the value. The sunroof was a problem, my wife did not like the fact that it did not open, but I don't usually open the sunroof anyway because it gets to hot and messes up my wife's hair. LOL. Having the view if nice though. And the seat height, that was a big selling point for us since I am over 6' and my wife is only 5' tall, being able to adjust the seat height is great, Seems that this car has a lot of handy features. The push button start is good too, now I find I have trouble getting in my truck and getting it started, funny how one can get used to changes so quickly. Anyway good job on the topic
  17. Talked to my dealer yesterday, He tells me that they sold 3 C-Max in Oct. Lots of people live in Edgewood and commute daily 60 to 100 miles,
  18. Update, last few days back and forth to work, round trip of about 90miles, mpg is back up to 40+ it could be better but, we do lots of mountain freeway driving. Was not to concerned that the mpg would not get better, but nice to know it will. Also having more HP available for driving the canyon and keeping up with the traffic without the engine screaming at a high rpm is good. one other note, the seats are starting to get broken in and are much more comfortable than they were to start. My wife was ready to trade off the car cause the seats were to hard, she liked the Infiniti seats the best. But she may let me keep the C-Max now.
  19. Thanks to everyone for their input, Yes the box and bars do add a lot of drag and probably lowered the MPG considerably, I will be driving without it for the next few months. I intend to keep posting mileage reports monthly. Hopefully the mpg will get better. Does anyone have an idea why the mpg did not change at higher speeds? one would think it would keep going down.
  20. I drove a Mercury Mariner hybrid for 3yrs 130,000+ miles, never had a problem with anything on the car, I know the C-Max is new, but to me Ford makes a good product. I did not purchase an extended warranty, don't feel that the car needs it. Plus it averaged 27mpg.
  21. Start Heading out for a 4000 mile trip in the C-Max today, have been averaging 40mpg in the mountains of NM back and forth to work everyday, I hope it does that good on the trip. Check engine light came on yesterday, had the dealer check it. Seems the fuel filler cap sensor detected a fault. No problems to fix this time. Will post again with the trip mpg. (Added Cargo container pictures to my first trip post), Have drove the C-Max for two days with the container, no wind noise or buffeting on the road. I am sure the cargo container will hurt my mpg. Day One First leg done, Abq to Seattle, the C-Max is a great car to take a trip in, Drives smooth and is easy to handle, We did 1500 miles in two days, no sweat. Now for the not so good, Had strong head winds the first day, lots of mountain roads, plus carrying a Yakima cargo box on the roof loaded with luggage, guessing 65 lbs, The MPG was 31.5, I was hoping for a little more than that but, that's the best it could do. Still have another 2500 miles to go on this trip, will keep posting, the next few days will be short local trips so the mpg should be better. Day Two Well today was much better on the mpg, driving county roads 50 to 60 made 40.0mpg full EV on the downhills by staying under 60 really helped the mpg. Plus no wind to speak of so the cargo box was not generating a lot of drag. I would say Ford designed the car to do well in stop and go traffic and it does, driving on the interstate at 70 to 75 with a full load it not what the C-Max was desgined for. that being said, I am still happy with the car. It is comfortable to drive and and 30+mpg at 75mph is not bad, since my previous car only did about 14mpg. The cargo container rack is all Yakima, I used the standard Q pylons Q128 clips and 58” wide bars. Don't remember the measurements, have to check that when I get back if anyone is interested. I had to set everything up and then fit and tweak several times before I got it to fit, if you look in the Yakima catalog they do not show any of their racks fitting the C-Max. Guess cause it is new. Do not do this if you do not know to fit the rack it will come off while driving if not done properly. The cargo box is just standard Yakima, I think I have the 21cuft size. Day Three Was driving in lots of rain today on and off. The rain sensing windshield wipers are great don't know how I got along with out them before. If you get any options at all get the wipers. On using the Nav, it works good once you figure it out, be sure to put the dest in before the waypoints, also the screen is really sensitive when setting the route start, you must only touch the icon, if you touch the screen anywhere else you have to start over. Be careful with the touch door locks, if is hard to be sure the doors are locked by just touching the lock. A indicator of some sort would be good, if you use the key fob it works ok, but it is nice to just touch the door handle to lock and unlock the car. I know that you can hear them and that the lights flash when they lock, but it’s still kind of hard to be sure they are locked. Day Four Still driving, Left Seattle sunday night, stayed in Spokane, mpg still around 31 on the freeway, lots of local trips here the last 2 days, mpg up to 36. the c-max handles great on the country roads we are driving, some of them are very rough, but the ride is smooth, I was suprised for such a small car, it rides well. No other problems with the car, Lots of rain the last 2 days, but no leaks from the rack mounts, the doors have 2 seals to keep any water out. One of the best features of this car is the low noise level while driving, my previous car was a Inifiniti QX56 which was very quiet and the C-Max is just as quiet, the low noise level really reduces the driving fatigue on long trips. We will be somewhere arould 4000 miles on this trip giving the car a real workout, I have to say it was a good buy, a little pricey but still a good car for the money. Day Five Finished the trip in my new C-Max. Last two days drove 1200miles mostly interstate some 2 lane state highways, the car now has over 5000 miles, this trip added about 4000 miles. All of my previous comments remain valid; this is a good all around car. Gas mileage: I would like the mpg to be better than 31.5 on the interstate, but it is what it is. I did discover though that the car gets the same mpg 31.5 at 65, 70, 75, and 80mph. Once you get over 65 it gets the same mpg all the way up to 80, of course I did not drive over 80, had my wife with me. LOL. So we did most of our interstate travel at 80. Final thoughts, Ford has the C-Max listed at 45mpg city and highway obviously this is not true. I like the car anyway, but Ford should give out the real mpg numbers, not what they want it to be. Would I still buy the car at 31 hwy, maybe the price difference of $5000 between the C-Max and say a Focus Hatchback, not sure the C-Max is worth more.
