Probably Ford answered "no" to the '13 s getting '14 improvements since there is not much gain in saying "yes." They don't want to pay to modify '13s since the EPA numbers on a '13 are now history. They want '14s to sell now, and the leftover '13s are what they are. The gain for Ford is for the '14s to have better EPA numbers…plays well in the market…continuous improvement. Concerned '13 owners, in Ford's view maybe, should consider buying a '14. Lotta money for a mile or two improvement. Add some other features like Adaptive cruise, Lane departure warning, real Blind spot indicators…and I'll buy that version. Add a factory Shark Fin as well...

Frontier Ford in CA website lists six (6) 2014 C-Max Energi's in stock…no 2014 Hybrid's. Hopefully the changes also apply to the Hybrid model.

Is the piece we're talking about the black plastic piece running vertically along the right side of the Escape's rear window?
-
is the blue vehicle posted above the one you saw? Weather looks pretty good for January in Mich! Dual exhaust? Roof rails? Front fender air extractor? Focus wheels???

Since they're still not producing '14 C-Max Hybrids, is the ad designed to move the remaining '13s off the lot? Maybe then they'll start producing the '14s! Maybe trying also to stir up '14 orders. Couldn't tell the model year in the ad. Same color as mine, but saw no feature differences.

Update to my earlier question re 10,000 mile notice for oil change…mine came on last night as I was driving, at 10,250 miles. Have owned it 11 months, and was built in early January.
-
Welcome Ashley. I've followed your help/assistance on the Explorer forum (which I'm considering adding to the C-Max fleet in '14). Really great to have your exceptional skills here. Will you still be on the Explorer Forum?

Thanks all for your input on this question. Sounds like the "10,000 miles" is variable, maybe depending on type of driving and/or amount the ICE actually runs. Also has a time element…"12 months."

I just turned 10,000 miles this week (now at 10,059) and EV miles shows 5,120 miles…but still no display re "change oil soon, or now." Oil has not been changed, and build date was early January. Is the system waiting until the ICE reaches 5,000 miles, (now has 10,059 minus 5,120 = 4,939) ??? Or do you think there is an issue? Never been reset (to my knowledge).

Noticed today that the washer fluid was low so I added quite a bit of fluid…more than I thought I have ever used since January purchase…car built early January. Then checked the garage floor and noted "blue" stain/liquid under vehicle, just forward of the right front tire. Took it to the dealer and inspection determined the windshield washer motor is leaking. Ordered a new part for me. Will be there in a day or two.

Received check via FedEx this AM (Wed, 10/9/2013)...sent on 10/7 from MI, 2nd AM service. I'm located in North Texas near DFW, last name starts with H, car purchased 1/21/2013.
-
Also in North Texas...no check as of early 3 Oct.

I read somewhere, probably quoted on this forum, that the checks will be sent at the end of this month (September).

Got my tire by FedEx and my cover by UPS, both arrived on Wed (9/11/13). Based on size, smaller than expected, I decided to put the tire flat on the floor of the hatch area...still plenty of room around it. Allows use of the privacy shade cover. Can be easily removed in case I have to carry larger items back there. Used an existing bungy cord to "tie" it down. Height of the spare tire is no higher than the apparent height of the Energi hatch floor.

I tend to agree...unless we owners make some more noise. On my C-Max, they even replaced the compressor, and thoroughly checked for leaks, several months ago. (Detroit jumped on the dealer for replacing the compressor) Made no difference whatsoever... I guess all I can say is I'd like a tighter turning radius and a more quiet (no BUZZ) a/c compressor. Neither one likely to happen!!!

Thanks to all in this forum for the spare tire info. Ordered from the Miami eBay seller ($39.90 + $23.00 FedEx Home Delivery shipping) yesterday. Also bought the on sale $18.99 scissor jack from the local Harbor Freight store, and a collapsible 14" lug nut wrench from Walmart for $12.92, plus a 10' ratchet for $3.44 from Walmart. Also ordered the 21 1/5" cover from Amazon for $10.91 plus $5.58 shipping. This was all inspired by just returning from driving 1,250 miles over 10 days in England & Scotland, and having an Avis car with no spare. On day 1 hit something, gauge said stop, low pressure. Tried to use the inflator/sealant, and it flowed out the sidewall. Person at a fish & chips drove us to a hotel that Sat. night. Avis roadside service tried to send a replacement tire...but 215/45-18 was not available. Sun. morning got it towed 25 miles to only Avis open that day, and got a replacement. Also without a spare! Total billed to me was $430 for the "tyre" and the tow was not charged. Filing a claim with VISA since they cover rental car damage. I didn't pay the extra collision Avis fee at rental. First rental car issue in over 40 years of rentals. So I want a spare in my C-Max for any trips outside my metro area!

Yesterday I went to my Ford dealer and the service writer updated SYNC to 3.6.2...he carries a USB with him, didn't even go through the sign-in process at the dealer. Took 30 minutes. Then needed to re-connect my iPhone 4s. And change the time setting by 1 hour. Went home and tried My SYNC website to confirm installation, per screen on the car after installation. Only option was to install...so called SYNC. He updated it in "ford system" and told me to do a Vehicle Health Report, to update My SYNC website. Did that, and it now show 3.6.2. Hope this works for others who have the dealer do the update.

Haven't noticed any negative A/C cooling...keep it at 72, but outside has been pretty consistent here at 100 during the day and 83 at night, during the past 5 days since my PCM update. Did test the 85 max MPH...yes, that's the number...Status screen says "High Speed" at or above, but not below. Mileage is definitely better...my rough estimate overall is 5-6%, or 2+ MPG.
-
The second attempt to re-program the PCM took...was called about 3 hours after leaving in the rental, that their second effort was successful. Asked if they road-tested it this time, and answer was yes. Picked up car and the 23 mile trip home mpg was 46.8...driving about 65% Interstate at 65-75. Working as advertised...let off pedal at 63+ and EV goes on. Also, once stopped, and turned off, the fan does not run near as long. FYI, the same trip after the first attempt earlier today recorded 39.7 mpg. And temp was hotter, and more head wind. Best advice I can again offer is to test it out at 62+mpg before leaving the dealer area. This was the first car they attempted, maybe just bad luck.
-
Caution to all going for the PCM update. Mine was supposedly done today, but as noted above do not see the effect in EV use above 62-63 mph. Took it back to dealer, and they said they need to coordinate with Ford Engineering. Service Director assures it was done. they put me in a free rental in the meantime. Point is...test it out one you get it done, to ensure there is not some bug other than in my apparent case.
-
Had my update this morning...made no difference on my vehicle when coasting down from 70-75...no EV, until I hit around 62-63. Did have about 80% battery. In the new (with the SYNC update) Status display, I now see a new reason for ICE operating..."High Speed"...not just "Acceleration." Do you 11Sti have that on your Status display when above 62mph?
-
Have an appointment early Monday morning (7/29/2013) for the PCM calibration at my dealer 20 freeway miles away. Will see how it performs on the return home. Said to take 1-1.5 hours. It will be their first customer for this. Maybe they have updated inventory...will ask my sales rep when there. Will report results when I return home.

I have this noise. Dealer agreed and even replaced the compressor and assured themselves afterward that the refrigerant and "oil" levels in the a/c were properly filled. (Levels were low, with an evident leak, prior to their work...per their diagnostics) STILL have this noise...made no difference, not even initially!!!

C-Max making noises at night
TxTom replied to Testdriver's topic in Alarms, Keyless Entry, Locks & Remote Start
Jus-A-CMax...you live in the hot Valley (I'm from Northridge previously)...do you have the a/c buzz noted in the other postings? The claim here is that all other C-Maxs have it at a/c start-up. Dealer went so far as replacing the compressor ($1,800+) since they thought it was not normal...until Ford engineering in Michigan told them to check the 3 others at the dealer...and found the noise as mine/others. Ford HDQ was not previously aware of this "issue." Thanks for your insight in advance...Tom -
Thanks for the Prius report. Hope other C-Max owners with this noise make comments...just in case the Ford marketing team is following, and it feels they should investigate with the Ford engineering folks. Would like them to advise if all is as they planned it, or is a "surprise." And if anything can be done via a TSB.
