  1. I had that happen with my 2013 SEL about a year ago. Took it to the dealer and they reset the "system" although not really sure exactly what they did. They have a habit of returning the car to me after any upgrades or resets with the contacts and favorite locations purged, so might have disconnected the battery for all I know.
  2. Has anybody heard of this or tried this? I ran across this video when I was trying to learn how to replace my display screen after an unfortunate dismal end. The video to access the back of the screen unit and replace it was spot on. Now they have this product that will show your phone or tablet screen on the home screen instead, so that we can see a reasonable Nav direction system or Waze rather than relying on the imprecise Ford version of navigation. Also we can input nav information (from the passenger seat of course) while the vehicle is in motion and access videos too, (also for the passenger or rear passengers. I see this as a potential work around for being stuck in a non-upgradable MyTouch system. Any thoughts? http://www.coastaletech.com/mytouchair.htm
  3. Paul, Would you be willing to make a new topic / post on here and ask for orders? Joel
  4. ptjones, I know you aren't making the covers now. A shame, as the packing tape is bumping me up 4-5 mpg even in the cold weather. This would be a great use for a 3D printer. Anyone have one???
  5. I have to agree with OP. I would love to replace the MFT with a CarPlay device. I have been extremely frustrated with the interface. Dropping BT links all of the time. Currently only able to interface via USB. Finicky voice interface. And let's not even go into the NAV system. Thanks to Waze, I am less stressed. The NAV system on my 2006 Toyota product was far better than this 2013 model. That said, I love the way it drives. And very quiet. I would have probably bought the SE model and saved on the MFT / NAV side had I known the above would be so bad. Being able to upgrade the system would make the car a long term keeper (>10 years). As it is, I will bide my time until I find something I like better. I understand the economics, but Ford could have shown another way.
  6. Again Unfortunate, Rebecca, because I would be willing to update mine too. I knew the interactive system was as bad as it is, I would not have purchased the vehicle, despite my overall appreciation for the car.
  7. fordfan82, I just replaced the display on my SEL, secondary to a bad temper. I ordered a used display which came with what I believe is the navigation component. If you are handy and adventurous, I would be happy to discuss sending it you. JB
  8. Just saw your post, and I did the exact same thing you suggested. Contacted a local car audio shop and they were very unenthusiastic, and started throwing out big numbers. Found this used car parts site: http://car-part.com Ordered the Display part for about $160. Helpful guy on the other end of the phone helped direct me to the correct part. Watched YouTube videos on how to access the display. The best site was from a place to bypass the lock out on watching Video or Entering addresses into the nav while the car is in motion. Part came in yesterday and went in this morning, just like on the video. Did not disconnect the car battery because I did not want to re-enter everything. Powered up and works perfectly. Except that my iPhone 6 STILL does not connect via blu tooth, which is what started this entire mess in the first place! Think I'll just leave a USB cable in the center box. I appreciate everyone's comments, even my psychotherapist's Kelleytoon's input. Bottom line is replacing the Display was not as hard or expensive as I thought.
  9. Thanks Adrian. Starting to talk to car audio people and get options. Will let everyone know how this goes.
  10. Appreciate the reply, if not the comment. Proper usage was not the issue. The failing of USB and BT recognition was my final trigger. I would appreciate comments specific to the original request regarding replacement units. GPS is not the issue, as Google maps is far more useful than the pathetic version Ford has. My 2003 car with GPS was far better at that task than this thing ever was.
  11. I might be the first on this forum to have this problem, but I doubt it. My Radio/Infotainment system (and I use that term loosely) finally got the better of me, and then I got the better of it, Sort of. The screen repeated came in contact with my hand which just happened to be in a fist position moving rapidly forward towards the screen in a desperate attempt to get said (former) screen to recognize either the iPhone via BlueTooth or My USB Cable. After several repeated contact my fist was unable to convince the unit it should work properly, and the apparently went on an untruly unnecessary strike. Good thing the display is shatter proof of the little gremlin bastards running it from inside would have been shattered by the shreds of sharp plastic in what I can only describe as excessive over action to my reasoned albeit physical response, the screen gremlins refuse to allow the Screen to all my to get back to enjoy being led over Hell and Half of Georgia when only trying to find the other side of Atlanta or even the adjacent neighborhood It seems ridiculous poring goof money in after bad, given the plethora of after marked radios/CD/Nav on the market. Not entire sure how much s salvageable given that some functions work in the dash. Did I See a comment earlier from another poster regarding a Double Din unit as being required to nake this work.. Come on guy, admit what you did and tell me how you got out of this mess. Is there a way to buy a Double Din unit and put in a standard Double Din unit that would likely be able to find fast route and are not shorter than slow route, or route that are not there at all. !0 old technology did better navigation stuff that this beast. Joel 2013 C-Max SEL with B level - no foot activators or any fancy stuff, just pending an anger management meeting she thinks I need.
  12. Update: got my car back this afternoon. APIM was replaced. Stereo / radio works now. Not sure what info will have to be reloaded. FWIW, it is the premium stereo. Will comment back if there is a problem. Thanks group!
  13. the dealership kept my car. They are ordering a new audio control module. Fingers crossed
