  1. Took C-Max into dealer today to have the gps module replaced. Called about two hours ago and said that the new module did not fix the problem. They are talking to Ford to find out why. GPS has been quirky since we got it in December. UPDATE: GPS WORKS - YIPEE - my C-Max is now perfect. We drove around and it stays on track. No wandering around in the bushes or off road. Here is what the work order says: "Copied the info from the old GPSM on to the IDS. Removed the ICP & removed the GPMS. Installed the new GPMS. Reinstalled the IPC. Downloaded the info back into the new GPSM."
  2. Dealer got the GPS Module but needs time to install because they have to open up the dashboard to replace the unit. Scheduled to work on it next week. Once replaced, I'll let everyone know if it fixed the problem or not.
  3. Dealer has ordered a new GPS module. Ford told dealer that it should fix the Navigation problem of showing me off road most of the time. Part arrives later this week. Will keep forum advised with my progress.
  4. Dealer spent morning going over my Nav system (shows the car off road most of the time). Technician contacted Ford and was told to replace the GPS module unit to fix the problem. The part is on order and will probably be in by end of week. Once replaced, I'll report if it fixed the problem or not.

Latest drive in the country - outside temp around 55.
  7. Dealer had C-Max in for the TSB. Unfortunately, my C-Max already had the most current IDS. Took technician for a drive and showed him how the GPS displayed car as off road from the current vehicle position. He said other Ford models have had similar problems which originated with the antenna. He will need more time to trouble shoot and will also contact Ford to see if there is a solution. I will need to make an another appointment and leave C-Max for technician to figure out why it's not working. Will keep everyone advised when I have more news to report.
  8. rtshinn. Check the sticker on the inside frame of the drivers door to determine the date your car was built. Being an Energi, it might have been built after the 1/15/13 cutoff date for the TSB.
  9. Yes, we'd buy it knowing what we know today. We bought the C-Max to replace a mini-van (which got around 15 mpg). With the back seats folded down, we have close to the carry capacity of a mini-van. The car drives great and is comfortable. Easy to get in and out. Love the technology. The only glitch has been the NAV but that should be fixed Thursday with the TSB fix. Mpg has been slowly climbing up. On short drives around town, I can get any where from 25 mpg (cold start on a cold day) to the high 50s and low 60s mpg. It all depends on if the car is warmed up or not. Interstate 70+ mph gets 37-39 mpg. The mini-van only got 20 mpg at interstate speeds. My wife loves the car more than I do, and I like it a lot.
  10. Petrim. In time, your mileage will be in the 40s. Review this site for all the good advice on getting the mileage the C-Max can get.
  11. down loaded the TSB 13-3-11 and called my dealer. I've got an appointment to take C-Max in this Thursday for updating the system to correct the "off road from the current vehicle position" problem. If this fixes the problem, then we'll be 100% happy with out C-Max.

  13. Interesting. Although I've had ICE kick in when leaving home since activating the EV+, I've also noticed the EV kick in when going up slight inclines when previously the ICE would kick in. When you get home, observe how much energy you have in the battery. IF its low, it might explain why you'er starting out the next day in ICE. I've been using the EV+ mode for the past month and have observed improved mpg numbers.
  14. Driving at 65 to 70 mph, I observed that if the battery was close to full, that the EV would kick in going up hills, providing some assistance to keeping the mpg in the high 30s or low 40s.
  15. Be glad you don't live in Virginia. The governor (Republican) is going to tax hybrids and electric cars $100 a year for consuming less gasoline - an thus paying less gasoline taxes. But in the same bill, the governor eliminates the tax on gasoline and will get transportation revenue by increasing the general sales tax. If he gets his way, no one will pay gas taxes but the hybrids and electrics will be singled out for being fuel efficient.
  16. In January, we drove from the top of the ridge on Rt. 33 at the border between WV and Va heading east down hill to Harrisonburg, around 22 miles, and got 99 mpg. But I think that would be considered cheating - being down hill all the way. Of course, driving up the mountain from Harrisonburg, we probably got around 25 mpg.
  17. We call our C-Max the "TARDIS" which comes from the BBC TV show, Dr. Who. The TARDIS is a space ship that from the outside looks like a British Call Box - like a large phone booth, but inside is huge. I bought a small sign that says TARDIS and placed it just under the rear wiper.
  18. For those who are Star Trek fans, JohnnOhio's supervisor will learn that "resistance is futile."
  19. Snowstorm. I bought my C-Max at Harrisonburg Ford. The C-max is really fun to drive on the Shenandoah Valley backroads where we get around 51 mpg (after breakin period). Lower 40 mpg on the main roads. I-81 at 70 mpg averages around 37. And of course, colder weather impacts mpg. By the time your C-Max arrives, the weather will be warmer which helps raise mpgs. Our only negative has been the Nav system but Ford knows about the glitch and hopefully its upcoming update will resolve the problem. Have fun with a great car.
  20. I just had my C-Max in for its first oil change (3,700 miles). I inquired about the GPS/Nav problem. Service guy gave me Ford's reply to his inquiry. It said, "32078 2012-2013 Battery Electric and Huybrid Vehicles Only - Navigation SD Card Fault and Clock will not hold correct time. Some 2012-2013 Battery Electric and Hybrid Vehicles equipped with My Ford Touch may exhibit concerns with navigation SD card and the clock not holding correct time. BEV and Hybrid vehicles at this time will not accept the A4 navigation card or the latest MyTouch update. A release for Hybrid vehicles is forth coming. Effective Date 06-February-2013." I guess we just need to wait until we get this update.

  22. Have I got MPG readings in the 20s? Yes. Have I got mpg readings in the 50s and 60s? Yes. I drove 800 miles and got 37 mpg (70 mph interstate). When the temps are in the 50s, I get 40s and 50s mpg in local trips. When its in the 30 degress, I get a wider range (25 to 40s) depending on if I turn on climate control or not. Does it take a different driving technique than my Taurus? Absolutely. I agree that Mr. Kramer needs to provide more facts. The fact that he lives in Maine suggests that he is driving in very cold climates. If Ford's citation of 47 mpg is false, then all of us should be getting lousy mileage. But we're not. And finally, if mileage is the only reason he bought a C-Max, then he probably bought the wrong car. I bought it because of its versatility, comfort, handling, options, etc.
  23. I wonder how this works when the GPS always shows me where I'm not? Although if it is consistantly wrong the same way each time, then I guess it could still list some routes as EV+ .
  24. Are C-Max owners waiting for 10,000 miles for first oil change or changing the oil sooner?
