  1. Has there been a distribution of these yet?  Anybody get one yet?  Just curious.

Mine just arrived 15 minutes ago via Fed-Ex.  Came with a letter of explanation.  Now they claim 45 city 40 hwy 43 overall.  That explains my so-so mileage for my Las Vegas trip last week.  Also explains the GREAT mileage I am getting in town.

  2. Same thing just happened to me on Saturday.  I was a little suspicious, but they told me the exact same thing as you.

My SA said that they had done a bunch of the updates without problem, but that they just got a new version of software (for the dealer, not for the C-MAX), and that they spent over four hours the day before trying to do an update that would not take.  They spent a lot of time with Ford via telephone, and Ford said that they had found a corrupt file or some problem with this version, and that they would be updating the software to fix the issue.  Ford further instructed not to do any updates until resolved.

EDIT: Just to make it clear, the problem software is not related to the C-MAX fuel economy update 13B07.  The issue has to do with the updated IDS software.

Also, the SA made it sound like this is not uncommon, and also said that they usually get the fix quickly, even the next day.  I am going to call tomorrow.  I now have my 13B07 scheduled for next Tuesday, the day after Labor Day.

I'm sure it says somewhere, but what is "IDS software"?

Never mind, I figured it out..         IDS (Integrated Diagnostic Software)

  3. Scheduled for Monday morning for the update and to redo the Sync(it forgot that it should recognize I heart and Slacker Radios.)  Also hope to knock out the headliner recall. Service rep says this will be their first updates. But I won't be alone.  They have 3 others scheduled that day.  I always hope for the best but expect the worst.

  4. I have an Energi.   Just out of curiosity I called Ford and they indicated that it is for the Hybrid only. The CSR asked if I was having any trouble with the vehicle and I said no. I hated to tell her that I was currently at 2200 miles, had a quarter of the original tank left and getting 280 mpg. I guess I exceeded the sticker EPA mpg.

Sounds like the gas will go "bad" (moisture build-up) before you have to fill up the tank!

  5. "...a good dealership should do its best to ease the burden on us by offering a free rental or courtesy car. they are not required to do it, but by reports on this forum it seems that most dealerships will do this. Ford should do it because they are indeed racing the clock to preserve the reputation of their hybrid cars."

When my car had the battery issue the Ford dealer who worked on it (not the dealer who sold me the car) got me a rental that day.  They kept the car for over a month until the TSB care in to fix the issue.  They billed the rental to Ford.  If they didn't cover the rental I would have been very upset to say the least.  I'm leasing my C-max so I guess I can do an extra road trip now.  I did a Vegas trip and a trip to Eureka on Ford's dime (except for gas)

  6. There is hope.  My C-max was at the dealer for a little over a month due to the battery issue. My car got the TSB 12-11-8 (?) change when it was first issued around March 19th.  It has been working flawlessly since.  When I get a chance I will take the car in to do the other TSB to charge harder.  Only issue now is that sometimes Sync doesn't find my "mobile apps" on my phone and I have to reboot the phone.  No biggie.
