  1. I had the same problem with my 2014 with my reversing camera. I bought a replacement off Amazon for $138. You can enter your car's model year into the site, and it will confirm if the camera or whatever item suits your car.

    I then installed the camera myself. There are instructions and videos on how to do it online. It took me about 3-4 hours, but I have two left hands, essentially.

    Yeah, I find that the door handle sensors fail in below freezing temps, but they start working a day or two after temperatures climb back above freezing.

    Saw some forum posts about this Roadtop system on another Ford forum. I think the on-screen functionality is fine, but the sound quality from the connected Android phone or iPhone is rubbish because it's going through Roadtop system and the AV inputs.

    No, that seems to be a fairly typical trait of Mercedes of that era. From memory the C- and E-Classes of that ilk were like that too.

  5. NYer here. The Hybrid will have its best fuel economy in the spring and fall when you're not running the climate control. Mileage goes down a bit in summer because we need it to keep from sweating, goes down a lot in winter because, obviously, I don't want to turn into a Popsicle. The heater uses engine warmth to blast heat into the cabin, so the gas engine turns to stay on a lot to stay warm enough to do that.

     

    That said, even at its worst, the fuel economy is still better than you would get in an equivalent, say, Focus. Mileage won't be too bad if you're mainly do suburban driving with decent but not excessive speed. Economy is worst in the city (where I live).

    Congrats (belated) on your purchase. Did you sell the SUV and Fit? And how many miles are the C-Max and Model Y doing?

    Triv, I'm sorry this happened to you. That's an awful experience to go through.

     

    Have you tried contacting the Better Business Bureau, or maybe letting the dealership know you've contact a lawyer about this?

     

    This should really be on them for not performing the warranty repairs satisfactorily. They stuffed up by not doing a proper job and cutting corners. It's their problem to fix at their expense, not yours.

  8. Yeah, the turning circle's pretty big. I don't remember any other Focus-based models being quite this way. And I don't recall reading about Euro C-Maxes having this issue, I think it's a specific setup for the NA C-Max Hybrid/Energi.

  9. I have my dashcam powered by the 12V socket in the center console bin. The camera came with a super long USB cable and a 12V socket adapter. I tucked the cable under the ceiling trim, along the trim for the A-pillar, along the seal in the footwell and under the carpet protector.

     

    Tomorrow I'll take a photo/s for you.

    It's a C segment car, that means it's around the same size a Focus, Golf or Corolla.

     

    Ford used this naming convention for many of its Euro minivans.

     

    There was a B-Max based on the Fiesta.

     

    They also had the larger Galaxy based on the Mondeo/Fusion. There was a sportier "coupe" version of that called the S-Max, presumably because it's sporty. Either of those should've been the E-Max.

  11. So this problem popped up a few months ago, and with a lot going on I haven't really had time to try and fix it.

     

    Our 2014 SEL Hybrid has the MyFordTouch system with Sony audio.

     

    85-90% of the time when I put it in reverse, nothing comes up on the screen. If I'm in reverse long enough, it will will usually tell me "Camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership."

     

    Sometimes the camera will work fine a bit, and then cut out. (This most often happens when I don't need it, of course!)

     

    And other times, the camera image is upside down or the camera works fine but the guiding lines that turn with the steering wheel don't work.

     

    There's been a few posts of late about camera issues, so I'm guessing it's not an isolated incident.

     

    Has anyone been able to fix their camera in the past? Is it just a case of removing the camera unit and cleaning the wires/unit, or replacing it? And how does one remove the camera to check it out?
