It is wintet here now, and it's been a little colder than usual, but it's currently above freezing and still not functioning. Do I need to clean some sensors somewhere? If the passenger door sensor is dirty, will this overload the whole system and stop the feature working on the drivers side? I am pretty frustrated with how little information I can find on this for my specific vehicle
Yeah, I find that the door handle sensors fail in below freezing temps, but they start working a day or two after temperatures climb back above freezing.

I can't speak to your specific issue (I had the larger touchscreen, not the Sync 4"), but if you want to replace your headunit I would recommend going to car-part.com, and searching for TV screen for a C-Max or Escape within the same generation as our car.

Congratulations on the Mach-E. Have you taken delivery of it?
And now that Ford is gaining access to Tesla's Supercharger network, it should be road trips less of a hassle.
-
Yeah, I'm sure you could go 10 miles (16km) on a 1.4kWh battery. The best I've managed is just a tick over a mile in my Hybrid, and most of that was downhill and below 35mph.
You might want to physically inspect the battery itself. It might have some plaque or label indicating its capacity.

Found an ad for upgrade for sync 2.
Looks to be an add on rather than replacement.
There is an Install video.
Anyone try this?
Saw some forum posts about this Roadtop system on another Ford forum. I think the on-screen functionality is fine, but the sound quality from the connected Android phone or iPhone is rubbish because it's going through Roadtop system and the AV inputs.

Do you have a recording of the noise? Or can you describe it?

I've got my eye on the Subaru Solterra; has anybody seen one yet?
They're pretty rare at the moment because both the Solterra and bZ4X have been recalled twice for wheels that might fall off.

Amen to that! My benchmark was an '09 MkV GTI, one of the most acclaimed VWs.
That GTI (in fact most Golfs and Polos of that age) had wonderfully sharp and precise steering. They just felt so wonderfully agile, even if there was a sluggish diesel under the hood.

I wish the Mercedes SUV I just bought had similar steering. At slow speeds and sharp angles, you actually have to manually unwind the steering back to straight ahead. That GLK has an extremely fight turning radius however. Could those two factors be related?
No, that seems to be a fairly typical trait of Mercedes of that era. From memory the C- and E-Classes of that ilk were like that too.

I love the steering in this era of Euro-developed Fords. I wish they were a little chattier, but barely anything from any brand in this era is. They're just well weighted, heavy enough without needing build your biceps, just enough feel, and stable at highway speeds so that a slight motion off center doesn't send you careening towards the next lane.

NYer here. The Hybrid will have its best fuel economy in the spring and fall when you're not running the climate control. Mileage goes down a bit in summer because we need it to keep from sweating, goes down a lot in winter because, obviously, I don't want to turn into a Popsicle. The heater uses engine warmth to blast heat into the cabin, so the gas engine turns to stay on a lot to stay warm enough to do that.
That said, even at its worst, the fuel economy is still better than you would get in an equivalent, say, Focus. Mileage won't be too bad if you're mainly do suburban driving with decent but not excessive speed. Economy is worst in the city (where I live).

The Enterprise is staying with us for sure (expect we'll keep it indefinitely) so I'll still be around. We can now get rid of our big towing SUV and perhaps the Fit as well.
The ICE keeps melting!
Congrats (belated) on your purchase. Did you sell the SUV and Fit? And how many miles are the C-Max and Model Y doing?
-
You'll have to do a Sync 2 to Sync 3 swap. As Homestead mentioned youll have to watch some videos to see how to remove the dash pieces and install the equipment.
-
Congratulations! You've purchased a great and largely unheralded car.
-
Did you buy your C-Max used or new? I bought mine used, and I only had a physical key in one of my two key fobs. I now only take that one with me, and just have the other one as a backup.

I'm thinking of RockAuto kit that Nogoodbum installed on their C-Max in the next month or so, and replacing the camera on my car. I'll try to video the whole thing, so you can see what it entails...

They got the lights turned off but they didn't replace some caps under the hood and they told me that the car will run without them.(This is the Ford dealership!!!) A week ago the transmission is dead again so I took it back to the dealership for them to tell me there is metal in the transmission. I looked it up and asked a few mechanics and it turns out that the dealership did not empty out the oil completely or at all when they replaced the original transmission the first time. Now the dealership want me to pay $8,000 to replace the transmission.
Triv, I'm sorry this happened to you. That's an awful experience to go through.
Have you tried contacting the Better Business Bureau, or maybe letting the dealership know you've contact a lawyer about this?
This should really be on them for not performing the warranty repairs satisfactorily. They stuffed up by not doing a proper job and cutting corners. It's their problem to fix at their expense, not yours.

I have my dashcam powered by the 12V socket in the center console bin. The camera came with a super long USB cable and a 12V socket adapter. I tucked the cable under the ceiling trim, along the trim for the A-pillar, along the seal in the footwell and under the carpet protector.
Tomorrow I'll take a photo/s for you.

@stolenmoment If you're interested in, I can photoshop an Energi badge onto your avatar. I'm afraid that's the best we can do until it's enabled further up the food chain.
-
Thanks for that @nogoodbum!
Sounds like the whole process is almost identical to that of the contemporary Ford Escape (below), and requires removing all the trim on the interior of the tailgate.

I'm pretty sure sure I'll have more questions before long, but for now my question is simply: What does the "C" in C-Max mean or stand for, please?
It's a C segment car, that means it's around the same size a Focus, Golf or Corolla.
Ford used this naming convention for many of its Euro minivans.
There was a B-Max based on the Fiesta.
They also had the larger Galaxy based on the Mondeo/Fusion. There was a sportier "coupe" version of that called the S-Max, presumably because it's sporty. Either of those should've been the E-Max.

So this problem popped up a few months ago, and with a lot going on I haven't really had time to try and fix it.
Our 2014 SEL Hybrid has the MyFordTouch system with Sony audio.
85-90% of the time when I put it in reverse, nothing comes up on the screen. If I'm in reverse long enough, it will will usually tell me "Camera is unavailable. Please contact your dealership."
Sometimes the camera will work fine a bit, and then cut out. (This most often happens when I don't need it, of course!)
And other times, the camera image is upside down or the camera works fine but the guiding lines that turn with the steering wheel don't work.
There's been a few posts of late about camera issues, so I'm guessing it's not an isolated incident.
Has anyone been able to fix their camera in the past? Is it just a case of removing the camera unit and cleaning the wires/unit, or replacing it? And how does one remove the camera to check it out?
Thanks!

Nice! I love the look of the C-Max with ST wheels. I've been thinking of doing that upgrade, but (you know) money and fuel economy.
Actually, how is your mileage after going to the ST wheel and tire combo?
2013 does cmax hybrid sel backup camera and power lift gate problem!

I had the same problem with my 2014 with my reversing camera. I bought a replacement off Amazon for $138. You can enter your car's model year into the site, and it will confirm if the camera or whatever item suits your car.
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KL82NVB/
I then installed the camera myself. There are instructions and videos on how to do it online. It took me about 3-4 hours, but I have two left hands, essentially.
