  1. Congrats to you too, thanks and let's continue this in my Foglight thread.
  2. Thanks for the photos and glad there is someone else interested in fogs. I was able to pry mostly off the driver side plastic grill and took a photo (attached) of those connectors but without further examination cannot tell what they are. My parts person informed me yesterday that there are several different body control modules but I didn't get exactly what the differences are. For example, is there only one BCM or SE models ... but then what about SE options such as heated seats, power hatch, etc. The Ford parts site indicates only one, however as you probably know, that site doesn't give complete part numbers. I don't know anyone yet who can enable me to access the Ford/Motorcraft site which does have complete numbers. Just to save keystrokes, here's a link the same question I posted on a Ford Technician site: http://www.flatratet...860#entry224169 From peering into the bumper cover (photo attached), I did see that it does have the round shape to accommodate foglight mounting. I've attached a diagram from the Ford site which includes what Ford calls a wiring jumper harness. I would guess from this diagram that the harness attaches on the driver side but since it is not very detailed, I don't know for sure. The price of about $12 minus any dealer discount would almost make it worth it to order and have a look. I think removing the shroud and the non-fog grills, as well as having a jumper harness in hand would give us a better idea of the situation. The issue regarding the electronics and body control module is another, perhaps more important problem. If no dealer is willing to 're-flash' the module or even install a different module, I don't think I'd compromise my warranty but welcome any comments. Finally, here's a link to a rather exhaustive fog light install into a 2012 Focus-S, which involved the BCM, wiring harnesses, etc. http://www.focusfana...ad.php?t=290882 Of course, if all this would cost $500 or $1,000, I probably would not go for it. The grills themselves list for $91 ea. Just to add fuel to the fire, in Europe you can have HID Xenon lights. These can be purchased online from various auction and non-auction sites. Would this install be impossible too? There are various resistors, capacitors which can trick the BCM into thinking is has the voltage of Standard halogen bulbs. But what about the amperage spike each time the HID bulb ignites? So many questions and as yet, few answers but this is the consequence of being an early-adopter ... fog-jumper-wire.tiff
  3. Thanks for the info. I've begun a discussion of this subject in the Lights, etc forum on this site. Yes, there might be a kit down the road but at this point, Ford customer service said there wasn't/wouldn't be one. The difficulty is that in addition to the lights, grills, switch and wiring jumper harness as it's called, it seems there is a different BCM (Body Control Module). One could say, well, just buy the different BCM but, again, what I've learned from posting these questions on other forums is that BCMs are coded to VINs and somehow you'd have to fool the BCM into thinking it was in a different vehicle. I have seen kits for versions of the Ford F-150 which actually include a replacement BCM, so maybe not too far fetched an idea. I could go old school and just wire it to the battery with a relay but I've been advised not to for safety/warranty reasons. I didn't think a request for fogs would become such a complicated issue but it seems to be just that. Yes, I wish I could have at least had the winter package but we needed to replace our totaled Volvo (nobody hurt) right away from dealer stock and the closest model with our chosen colors which had the winter package was 500 miles away.
  4. Is anyone tech-savvy enough to know if one purchased all the components involved for foglights (lights, grills, wiring jumper, switch), one could make them work? The BCM (body control module) is identical across all models. My dealer service manager found two 'no' answers to this question, which is rather disappointing.
  5. Hi all- We had decided years ago our next vehicle was going to be a hybrid and assumed it would be a Prius but luckily our timing was right and the C-Max hybrid was just beginning to be sold, so we test drove one and bought the most basic model SE on Oct. 1 off the lot, apparently at that time one of eighteen sold in New England. Almost finished with our second tank, about 950 miles of mostly city and about 100 hwy miles, 40mpg average. I would have liked to have had power and heated seats, fog lights and push-button start but in order to get those features as you know, one must choose the SEL model and be forced to have leather, which we did not want. Removing the leather after the fact was also not a choice. I've since learned the inability to pick and choose options seems to be a common complaint among Ford owners but corporate does nothing to remedy that situation and continues to group most options into packages. I do realize there are a few individual options, though. Is anyone tech-savvy enough to know if, for example, one purchased all the components involved for foglights, one could make them work? The BCM (body control module) is identical across all models. My dealer service manager found two 'no' answers to this question, which is rather disappointing. Thanks
