  1. I just learned about this cancelling of the VHR from my State Farm agent - no email from Ford!  State Farm was using it to report miles driven for the low-mileage rate  I'm on.  Now, I assume, I'll have to drive by their office or do something else for this rate (will be calling them).

I always thought the report was rather useless, but are they continuing it for in-car display?

  2. Update - my long-term Service Advisor called today and said they DID have the replacement parts in stock and to bring it in.  They're keeping it overnight and will finish tomorrow.  I'm getting an oil change too and he called and said I was due for a cabin filter change and I took great pleasure in telling him that's the last auto maintenance item that I still do myself!

  3. Coming soon. And an Energi specific feature.

The automaker today introduced SmartLink—a device that plugs into contemporary cars to add a high-tech twist to everyday driving.
Connect the accessory to the OBD (on-board diagnostics) II port below the steering wheel of any 2010–2016 Ford or Lincoln for access to smartphone-based remote start, lock, and unlock; a 4G Wi-Fi hotspot capable of accepting up to eight devices; vehicle health and security alerts; and vehicle location assistance.

Developed in collaboration with Delphi Automotive and Verizon Telematics, SmartLink will be available this summer at Ford and Lincoln dealerships across the nation. An official release date was not revealed.

Focus Electric, Fusion Energi, and C-Max Energi owners, meanwhile, are the first to access new home-to-car capabilities via Ford and Amazon. Folks with an Echo, Echo Dot, or Amazon Tap can remote start, lock, or unlock doors, and get vehicle information from the comfort of their living room using voice commands.

  4. My Energi is now nearly 4 years old.  After getting the Nav module replaced within a month of buying it (my YouTube video of that problem has over 10,000 views) the navigation has worked flawlessly until last night. I drove 10 miles with it working fine, and upon starting the return trip it started fine, and I adjusted the zoom a couple of times, then within a few blocks the location shown started to drift off, with the direction of the car also not correct.

Eventually the location shown was 1-3 miles from my true location. The odd thing was the car was shown on actual streets but not moving in the same direction, unlike my original problem which had the car shown 100-200' feet from its true location.  After getting home I shut off the car and restarted, but it still showed my location as several miles away.

So, has anyone seen this problem? Is there any reboot procedure for the Navigation that might fix it?  If its the module again, how much does Ford charge to replace it?

UPDATE: I just started the car after it sitting all night and the navigation is showing the correct location.  I will drive it today and see if it acts up again, but let's all hope it was just a Russian hack of the GPS system last night!

UPDATE 2: Drove around with no GPS problems today.  That was a pretty weird event.  Thanks for the cost info. I would probably try to do a DIY if it were a permanent problem.

  5. Anyone seen anything for the c-max that's similar to the battery kits that are offered for the prius to extend battery range?

Also, I'm not sure if this would work on an Energi?

I couldn't find anything similar to this topic when searching.  I was hoping someone knew of a kit or mod.

    thanks

If you haven't already, you may want to post this question on the Energi forum.

  6. How low can the stop point on the door be programmed?  Can you lower the door to the point that it doesn't hit the rack, then re-program that as the stop point, so if it does open, it's just a bit?

It might be annoying to have the door open just a little when you are taking the rack on and off regularly, but it might work well to reset it if the rack was staying on for a while, like if you are taking the bikes on vacation with you.

I don't know how low it can be programmed but it's really not a big problem to avoid the kick zones when using the rack.  I just padded the vertical bar and if it accidentally opens it just hits the pad and stops with no damage.

This was the kick zone I measured.  Don't recall if the center still worked but will test today as I'm loading the bikes on.

  7. Here's my post on the Energi forum of testing the kick zones and link to the Ford diagram of sensor locations.  http://fordcmaxenergiforum.com/topic/3072-no-liftgate-sensor-after-torklift-installation/?p=23938

The Torklift hitch doesn't cover the sensor.

I believe I triggered the door when installing the hitch pin and/or struggling to get a bike loaded.

  8. Hello everyone.

I just leased a 2016 C-Max Hybrid SEL. It has parking sensors in the rear bumper. I was thinking that if I install a hitch-mounted bike rack (kuat nv), the rack will interfere with the sensors when I try to reverse into my driveway. What I mean is that they sensor in the middle will always detect an object (the rack) very close, rendering the entire system useless when the rack is installed.

Can anyone opine on this though being correct?  Did any of your run into this problem?

Every time we take our bikes somewhere!  You just use the control on the steering wheel to shut off the alarm for that trip.  No big deal other than having to do it every time.

  9. I am having a problem uploading the XML file at the end of the process - I guess because I am using firefox on Linux - I browse for and select the XML file but then nothing happens.  This happened last time I updated MFT as well - Can't remember how I resolved it last time..maybe I borrowed a windows PC or the "reminder" Email had a different link in it.

It doesn't like Firefox, as I found out.  Use a different browser.
