LOVING my 2013 SEL purchased new from Academy Ford in Laurel MD and in fact the first C Max they delivered to me back in Aug 2012. I have 55,000 miles on the car and my computer's lifetime average is 43.4 MPG. Today I can't think of another better buy then the C Max and with me 120,000 mile 6 year warranty I won't need to worry about what car I want. I tend to hold onto my cars for 7-10 years and the C Max is a KEEPER. Does everything I need it to do in busy Washington DC congested traffic. We had to sell our Old Ford Escape 2001 to a 2016 Subaru Outback to tow the boat and haul our dogs and gear when on vacation. So thanks for all your feedback and tips. I was one of the first bunch that broke the 600 mile per tank challenges and I know some here have already made that high make a low tide mark. Great car great forum and good feedback. Thanks catsailor

Have +3 years now and 51,000 miles on a GREAT Ford C Max. Had my oil changed at Jiffy lube and they recommended flushing my oil to prevent sludge. IS this something I should do or has anybody else done this or does Ford recommend it. My oil changes are at +10,000 mile increments per the dash indicator and since I have a lifetime average of 43.3 MPG (mostly highway driving too) don't know if this is something that should be done, never done this before on any other car I have owned. Your thoughts.

Forgot where that hidden key was and so road side assistance got me inside and a jump start. All including sync is working now. My thoughts are my sync froze up yesterday so it prbably stayed ON and drained my battery down. Thanks for the assistance
-
My Sync locked up on me yesterday so i was planning on swinging by to have it re-booted, so this morning I can't get either of my key fobs to open my car. I believe my house battery (starting battery is dead) plus I have an issue with my Snyc. My guess is something with the radio drained down the battery since the Snyc was screwy yesterday and I could not get any radio or blue tooth to work with my phone. Anythoughts while I wait for a Roadside service to open and jump the battery? Catsailor

For Those Of You Who Drive Majority/Mostly Highway Miles...
catsailor replied to AMA904's topic in Fuel Mileage
I am a sales rep so even though my Fuelly profile says 50/50 hwy city driving I can tell you its mostly 75% hwy and 25% city. My lifetime average is 43.8 MPG at just at +31,000 miles driven and 96% brake score. I live in the congested area of the Baltimore/Washington DC/Annapolis MD triangle so my question to you folks is WHERE in the heck can you drive at 70-80 MPH because around here is 65 MPH tops and Smokey loves to catch speeders and in the city we have so many speed camera's its become a profit center for local LE. So yeah I have backed off the pedal hold the posted speed limits and when the road is smooth and open I get +43 on the HWY and if its slows to a crawl my MPG's jump way up. LOVE the C Max too -
I read the forum and I learn from a lot from your posts and at the end of the day I continue to love my car even more. Its a 2013 and truthfully if anybody can tell me what the differences are between it and the 2014 or future 2015 I would like to know. Cashed in both my rebate checks, heck used one check to buy a 120,000 mile extended warranty (4 more years left). I will run the car till the end as I can't see liking to drive anything that does not give me great fuel efficiency and cabin comfort. Everybody that has ridden with me in my car has come away with a different perspective about what a hybrid drives like and its road comfort. Ford marketing or lack there of really screwed the pooch on this product launch. Happy miles to all of you adaptors of this hybrid technology by Ford.

same issue with my car today with +95 outside heat. Anybody figure this out because when I used my car 2 hours later everything was back to normal.

Yeah I am the guy that is pissed at Ford for depreciating my C max before its time. I am also the guy that is averaging 43.6 MPG for just about 29,000 miles driven with a 96% brake score. I am NO PT Jones, Matt or the top FE guys here but I am better than your average C Max driver and I drive my car as a traveling salesman. I need to drive a lot of highway and I need to be on time to make my appointments. So sometimes FE be dammed. So I do tend to own my cars to +100,000 miles as evidenced by the following if my memory serves me right... I count only Fords I have owned: 1990 Taurus 3.0 V6 = +140,000 miles (retired) 1995 Windstar 3.8 V6 = +177,000 miles (retired) 2001 Escape 2.0 V6 = 56,000 miles and this is my wife's primary driver 2007 Edge 3.8 V6 = 137,000 miles company car (no longer with company so turned that one in) 2013 C Max 188 hp = 29,000 miles and counting BTW NONE of the Ford's I owned EVER had an extended warranty until this C Max which indicates my intentions to run her till the wheels fall off. now here is the most perplexing question I ask myself each time I get behind the wheel of the C Max. If I had a do over would I by the same car TODAY with the choices I have right now?? The answer is always a resounding YES. The only close option I would consider is the Diesel Chevy Cruze hatch back not released yet for sale. VW can stick it in my book too many small issues I dealt with them on with my past 5 VW cars I owned. Plus their cost of parts are outrageous. I love the C Max and wished the Fools in the engineering and Marketing department take a minute read and learn from these boards......stupid to take on Prius on the mileage issue alone...just plain dumb.

Please help me out, who bought this type of protection, how long did the warranty extend to and at what costs. Seriously thinking of pulling the trigger on this idea. Your thoughts are much appreciated. Thanks catsailor

I totally agree and think that WE should start a petition leading to a credit on trade in for another Ford product because our C Max's will take a huge hit in resale when that time comes to sell or trade in. I for one am willing to write a letter to Alan Mullaly right now demanding that he look fairly at his TWO re-rates of this car and tell me if he does not think he and Ford just put the screws to me. Who is interested in going in with me on this letter???

I remember picking up my new SEL C Max back in September 2012, the first from my dealership and one of the first sold in Maryland if not the first since I had my deposit down in early July on this car. Told my dealer and some Ford Exec's in for a open house that anybody that buys this car will struggle to get 42 MPG and I was looked at like a fool. Fast forward to today and two re-certifications later and my statement was validated so WTF were the engineers at Ford doing when they did their own real life on the road testing with themselves and consumers behind the wheel? Do you honesty think if I had known that this car only got 40 MPG I would not have gone with another alternative due to the premium price I paid for the Max?? VW Diesel was a contender at the time. So yeah I get that Ford is sending me $475 on top of the $550 they already sent me to make up for the $ gas loss. BUT what about my loss of resale value for this car and the premium I paid for it to get me that elusive 47/47/47. So I learned to drive my C Max and my lifetime MPG is 43.6 at just under 29,000 miles driven and two winters and 1.25 summers so far. Brake score is 96% and I must admit I love the car. So Ford can send me checks to keep me happy but some day I will be selling or trading in my Max and I bet you the farm the re-sale of this car just took another hit. And I don't want to forget the premium about $6000 I paid to get that 47/47/47 when comparing the Max to others in its class. Think about that one for awhile. BTW I told my dealer that the car Ford should really be concerned about is its popular Escape which if you go to Fuelly does not come close to its published ratings.

sorry to send you a message this way, somebody mentioned magnets to attach grill covers and I LIKE that idea better then the Velcro attachment you offer now. Any chance I could buy your covers this way. I like the magnets on my gas pods so its easy to remove them for a car wash. thanks for your considerations to this request. ps: if you go with magnets do you need such a large piece of plexiglass or could you make it smaller to cover the intake holes?

could you link us to where you bought it and any installation pics or details please. thanks

What happened to the resale value?!!
catsailor replied to Gustavo Monge's topic in General Discussion
Best driving and comfortable car I could find. If I chose to drive a smaller sized car the C Max was it at the time and its still it now so I have no intention of selling the car until the wheels fall off. I don't buy cars thinking of re-sale so soon after purchase. Lets talk about re-sale 5 years from now :) -
I see where the EPA rating have not changed and they no longer give a combined figure.
-
should have clearer I meant to say the mods you took a picture of on the new 2014 is not impressive and YES I have gas pods and love them.

I hear all this talk about the Energi transmission being fitted into the Hybrid.... maybe this is being done BECAUSE they can't make enough of one or the other to get a price break point. And we all know car makers want to minimize their parts bin. So if you needed to pick one tranny to use you need to pick the Energi's. I think this maybe the biggest driving force in getting new EPA test numbers. When Ford designed both cars you can't tell me their engineers did not consider using one standard tranny for both car? I would think that the manufacturing engineers would have pointed them in this direction to begin with. As an engineer here this argument makes more sense to me than anything else. The aero mods I have seen PHOTOGRAPHED on the 2014 from MTB is so far un-impressive and looks like PT Jones will have a glue in rear wind fix soon :) Interested in your thoughts

Can I add my 2 cents here. Now that I learned to drive a HYBRID I CAN'T drive my wife's SUV anymore because I can't plus and glide or hypermile it. So my habits are now geared around a CVT hybrid........ WHAT DO YOU GUYS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THAT....really can't drive a normal car anymore.

Why wouldn't Ford have EPA test the new 2014 C Max. ?
catsailor replied to catsailor's topic in General Discussion
the EPA Dyno test wont find the aero changes at all, those need to be shown on the road under actual driving. The trans changes it may find in acceleration and gearing. -

thanks on the revision catch and you are correct a heavy car for sure. I think this is also why it felt good on wet roads and some ice. -
In the market for new car, would you buy another C-Max?
