In my area bad drivers aren't limited to any make or model, check out this Chevy Suburban passing me in a single car left turn lane and running the red light in the process. Click the 1080p option in the lower right corner for full HD. -
Thanks for the write up, Planning to install the wife's C-Max Blackvue and Powermagic Pro within the next few weeks. I have the same setup in my Passat and post my videos here; http://www.youtube.com/user/darrelld3/videos

Have you posted your experience on the Ford Facebook page? -
I use the pump reading, its the only accurate way to report. As Plus3 stated there are too many variables with the dash readout.

Installed 3.6.2 on my way to work, no problems other than having to repair my iPhone 5. I did have a problem getting my iMac to report the update back to Ford, tried Chrome, Safari, and Firefox. When I clicked the file browse button nothing would happen. Tried it from a Windoze 7x64 machine running under VMWare Fusion with Chrome, Firefox, and IE10. Still no luck with reporting the update. I booted up an old HP laptop running Windoze 7x64 IE10 and the xml file was uploaded to Ford without a hitch.

The only thing that kept me from buying an Energi over my Hybrid was concern over battery longevity charging in high ambient temps. Can any Energi owners confirm if the interior AC does indeed switch on while charging from an outlet at 100+ outside temps?

Some jerk hit our car in a parking lot!

We always have our dash cam running in park mode to capture just such an event. http://dashcamtalk.com/blackvue-dr500gw-hd/ -
Many drivers of gasoline-electric hybrids never see their real-world fuel economy match the numbers on the EPA window sticker. Because of hybrids' complex powertrains and other factors, the gap between real-world fuel economy and the window label is often greater than it is with vehicles powered by conventional gasoline or diesel engines. http://www.autonews.com/article/20130816/OEM05/130819927/why-hybrids-often-deliver-lower-mpg-than-advertised

Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid
darrelld replied to slampro's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
If temps are in the 95+ range mpg will take a big nosedive. If you look at my last few tanks in fuelly the mpg avg at those temps drops into the mid 30's. We had a few days where temps moderated back into the 70's and 80's and the tank average went up about 20% to the low 40's. -

Ford to lower fuel economy rating on C-Max hybrid
darrelld replied to slampro's topic in Articles, News & Reviews
Well its about time. :) -
While our temps were in the 100's I didn't see much difference in FE post update. This makes sense given the amount of work required to remove heat from the cabin area will probably require the compressor run at max work load. Now that temps have dropped into the mid to lower 90's we are starting to see a general improvement in overall FE post update and expect a better fuelly report with the next tank. I made a note on my fuelly link corresponding to the local temps and marking the firmware update application.

Big advantage of the C-Max over the Prius. The Prii got poor ratings in this crash, not certain why anyone would down grade their families safety to gain a few mpg.
-
The Ford Focus recently completed the IIHS Small Overlap Front Test with an acceptable rating. Since the C-Max shares much of the Focus platform this could indicate how well our cars will perform in this test. http://www.iihs.org/ratings/rating.aspx?id=1845

Temps are now in the upper 90s, low 100's and my FE has dropped into the mid 30s. The FE AC optimization doesn't seem to do much under those conditions. As a reference my TDI mpg under the same conditions is in the low 40s.

Anyone else notice the recycle air now stays on after you power the car off for the day and return?

Planning to buy a c-max this week, would you?
darrelld replied to mw27's topic in Buying, Order and Leasing
I would certainly buy again, any C-Max purchased today will avoid the early adopters problems. As I am typing this my C-Max is at the dealer finishing up the FE and headliner updates. I don't see anything on the market right now that has the combination of utility, economy and performance the C-Max has. -
All you beta testers keep the updates coming, I am scheduled to do this tomorrow morning. I have no baseline data other than what we have entered in fuelly and will add a note to the log entry marking the update point. From there I can calculate how much on average FE improves given the fairly consistent work path. The biggest change I am after is AC efficiency improvement since we do little highway driving in our C-Max.
