Ah, that makes my day, actual scientific evidence backing up my anecdotal (though pretty exhaustive) reporting of what I've seen over and over out on the road! Thanks Edsel! -

Well, any generalization that posits that any group is all one thing is just dumb, but I drive all over L.A., and I'm tellin ya, I've seen more BMW people doing INSANELY STUPID stuff, like passing within AN INCH of another car to pass / change lanes, etc., tailgating, etc.,etc.,etc., than drivers of ANY other car. And it's not class envy, I used to own a mercedes, I know all too well that with that nice a car, you'd better not merge into someone's lane less than 1/4 mile ahead of them if they're driving a POS or you're risking some seriously class-envy enhanced road rage, (like they seriously want to kill you for changing lanes) so I'm not mad about them being or pretending to be richie riches, and I don't begrudge people having a little fun with their cars, but they just do it so unsafely and rudely and with such disregard for others and in such higher rates (seriously, 10-1 vs ANY other brand/model is a CONSERVATIVE estimate) that it's hard not to come to the point where you view anyone who owns one with a jaundiced eye... My theory is that with the included maintenance, the math of how much a BMW costs to own has actually come down to the point where immature idiots who would not have bought BMWs now do, get intoxicated by its power and precision, and start to drive like they're 15... usually the worst behavior is seen by those driving the lower end models... I drop the max down into low on a fairly regular basis for fun and blow by traffic, so I get it, playing at the upper edge of your performance envelope is fun, this is probably why a lot of us bought C-maxs vs. prii, it just pisses me off that these douchebags are willing to risk everyone's life for a thrill or to get to their destination a couple seconds earlier. -

I think anyone who drives a lot has seen that some BMW drivers are THE WORST (most prone to risky maneuvers, aggressive driving) drivers out there, beating even Mustang drivers by a factor of at least 10 to 1. I've even declined people as clients partially because they have a BMW. Not that having a BMW makes you an a-hole, but it's a pretty good indicator you might be one. Uh....er.... nice car Armored Saint, congrats. heh -
I think you're right- I reset my average when starting up the 405 hill just south of the 101, which is a fairly steep grade, getting like 20mpg going up, then downhill and flats to Torrance (about 25 miles) and it was one of my best runs ever, 63mpg AVERAGE. There was stop and go traffic, which helps.

Some jerk hit our car in a parking lot!

What's worse than d-bags who open their car doors into yours? D-bags who think it's ok to bump their way into parallel parking spaces; From the Wired.com article; Mr. Know-It-All: Is Automated Parallel Parking a Menace to Masculinity? " here's some serious douche-baggery in the comments section (so while in polite civilized society, yes, door dings are nothing to fight over, we do understand your anger at someone damaging your car and then not even taking responsibility for it- these people are FIGHTING mad over a door ding, basically the same thing with even less damage); Dalai endus • 2 months ago Agreed. Parallel parking is roughly as difficult as tying your shoelaces. My nephew demonstrated how to do it into a space shorter than the car itself. Impossible you say? Nope. Cars have bumpers which give several inches with zero damage. With a quick drop in and then several back and forth wheel swings you can parallel park a car in a space smaller than the car itself. No damage to either car. If you can do that in under 60 seconds anybody can learn in a normal space with unlimited time. Just a simple skill to learn like a thousand others. 3 7 • Share › endus Dalai • 2 months ago I like that you know how to parallel park, but if I came back to my car and found you parked touching my bumper you would need to have a tow truck come and get your car. I'm not saying I'd damage it, but 4 tire deflation is an absolute minimum. Don't ever do that in real life. • Share › Proteus Dalai • 2 months ago I saw a video on this (all cars privately owned). It shows how little room is needed to parallel park without touching any car....like 6 inches or less is actually quite possible. 3 • Share › Magnum Opus Proteus • 2 months ago Yea, if you get your angle of approach correct within a very small margin of error, then make your corrections accordingly, sure. You are suppose to be able to parallel park in one move from reverse. Amateurs need to pull up in drive to straighten the vehicle up to within 6 inches(legal) from the curb. • Share › zieroh Dalai • 2 months ago You and your nephew are d-bags. 3 2 • Share › Magnum Opus Dalai • 2 months ago If you can do that in under 60 seconds anybody can learn in a normal space with unlimited time. Unbelievable! 4 • Share › Magnum Opus Dalai • 2 months ago Tell your nephew to stay his ass in New Delhi where that s#!t is tolerated. Here in the US you will get shot doing dumb sh*t like that. All my cars have solid chrome bumpers and steel pipes ready to blow! 2 1 • Share › Force Meow If you think it's ok to bump my thousands of dollars car to fit your sh*tbox into a parking space(that you admitted you were aware is too small before ever starting hence the need for your douchebag ingenuity- how about putting that ingenuity to some positive use instead of figuring out how to be a bigger arrogant dick with no regard for others), I can only hope the savage beating you will inevitably eventually receive for doing it will convince you otherwise. A**hole. 13 3 • Share › Dalai Force Meow • 2 months ago The demo was with 3 cars WE owned. NO DAMAGE to any car AS I WROTE. Did you think we just stumbled upon spaces which just happened to be 3 inches smaller than the car we were parking? Reading skills, genius, reading skills. 3 1 • Share › Force Meow Dalai • 2 months ago Reading skills my a** Douchebag- You're only now stating they were all your cars (which I doubt) in a desperate bid to absolve or convince yourself you and your nephew are not a**holes. Which, even if they are all your cars, you're both still assholes. Here's why; Prove me wrong, post a video. And make sure it's HIGH DEFINITION so we can see all the little nicks and scratches on your plastic bumper covers from your douchey driving. I've seen people like you who think that's no big deal or inevitable, that nicks and scratches "don't count" or I don't know what the hell you think, (that unless there's a BIG DENT it's not "damaged"- you people baffle me, I consider your BRAIN:DAMAGED) but it's NOT inevitable, aaaaand; You're still a**holes for encouraging this behavior. • Share › Dalai Force Meow • 2 months ago LOL!!!!! Right, we just drove and drove and drove around measuring spaces until we found one exactly 3 inches smaller than the car to be parked! Let me guess, you run the logic department at a prestigious university....maybe Harvard or MIT? • Share › Magnum Opus Force Meow • 2 months ago Ahh the memories! Speaking of savage a** beatings. I've seen more than my fair share of them due to skill-less bastards bumping cars trying to do just what you've described. Which is why I prefer to park as far awaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay from green hurried a-holes as possible then walking the remaining distance to my destination. I also have front and rear cameras recording even while the car is parked, and am considering left and right side, cheap HD cams can be had for as little as $37... They probably wouldn't register a door ding as an "event" though, which would mean having to check each time you parked the playback, and I'm just not gonna do that... maybe that could be a feature of future Fords? -
Wow, what level grade? What speed?

Right, confirmed in an engineer chat too, so people can have confidence in that statement. but "Low" gearshift transmission mode does NOT; "Torque" my android app that shows engine revs shows that results in engine braking, which is gonna suck SOME gas through, so... Whereas hill assist engages regeneration only- anyone know if that regeneration is equal to / greater than / less than brake regeneration?

Los Angeles C-max owners; want to earn $125 for answering Questions for 2 hours call (818) 756-7387. Limited spots available- I spoke with Colin, not sure he's the only one handling sign-ups for this survey. Didn't ask, but I THINK they only want C-max regular hybrid. It's at Universal Citywalk, and yes, they will validate the $20 parking fee, and give you $125 after the 2 hour survey. We spend a lot of time on this forum discussing, now you could get paid for it... And really, no matter how far away you live, you would at least break even, get a free trip to Universal Citywalk out of it since the C-max gets such good mileage. God I love this car. Best, McG

I also put supreme in at my last fill up, time will tell if there's any difference... not really seeing it as yet, which would make sense, because USUALLY adding a different octane gas just means your air/fuel mixture is not quite right, but Atkinson cycle engines are a new thing, it would be exciting to discover a loophole such as this...

Bingo on the LA traffic diagnosis It's BECAUSE of that traffic that the score is so high tho It's a no-win situation, if I leave enough space in front of me to modulate braking to 100%, some tool will dive in front of me and then slow down. Best case scenario; everyone goes home alive and I get the excuse "yeah, my mpg would be higher if there weren't so many a-holes in Los Angeles."

Fair enough, here ya go
