  1. Bought this one - seems to be the same as the full price version - totally worth the price IMHO: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2013-Ford-CMAX-Hybrid-and-CMAX-Energi-Factory-Service-Manual-Repair-Manual-OEM-/171401381309?pt=Motors_Manuals_Literature&hash=item27e85185bd&vxp=mtr Although all the wiring diagrams are included in the DVD, I also later bought a "used" copy of the wiring diagram manual for $15 I stumbled upon from another seller - seemed like new to me: http://www.ebay.com/itm/171441384528?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT I'm an old guy, so for me, it's just easier to flip through a book.
  2. Our lifetime average is 45(.3) MPG or about double the car it replaced (2005 Lincoln LS), so every time we fill up, I figure we saved whatever we spent (actually, we save more, because the LS ran on Premium). In your case, you can expect to be getting over 3 times the MPG of the Navigator, so if you fill up the C-Max as I did recently and the total comes to $25, you just saved over $50! Yeah, the one thing I have noticed about the C-Max is that the the cargo area is not very long, even with the seats down, so you need to figure out something about the surfboards. Take a look here post #17 may interest you?: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/2620-carpet-in-hatch-area-came-up/
  3. Very nice post and link - looks like a very nice quality custom product for a fair price. Not sure I want or need it...I need to think about that, but it might be a good idea, since we got a puppy in August! Thank you.
  4. I wonder why such an advanced car like our 2013 C-Max does not have this feature that my relatively low-tech/small HV battery/mild-hybrid 2012 Buick Lacrosee has: Black plate (94,1)Buick LaCrosse Owner Manual - 201210-94 Vehicle CareJump StartingJump Starting (On-boardwith eAssist Only)If the vehicle fails to crank, it maybe jump started by using the eAssistbattery to charge the 12-volt battery.Use the following procedure toactivate the on‐board jump startusing the DIC controls.DIC ButtonsA.SET/CLRB.wx(Thumbwheel)C.MENUWith the ignition key in the runposition, proceed as follows:1. Press MENU © on the turnsignal lever until VehicleInformation Menu is displayed.Usewx(Thumbwheel) (B) toscroll through the menu itemsuntil Jump Start is displayed.2. Press SET/CLR (A) to activatethe jump start.3. The system will then ask forconfirmation. If yes is selected, the jump start will begin and thedisplay will show JUMP STARTACTIVE, WAIT TO START.4. When the jump start is complete, the display will show JUMPSTART COMPLETE. ATTEMPTSTART.If the vehicle is started, theon‐board jump start function will beautomatically disabled. If the vehiclecranks but does not start, theprocedure may be repeatedagain. If the vehicle start is stillunsuccessful, the jump start can beattempted using the following jumpstarting procedure under“JumpStarting (with or without eAssist).”On‐board jump starting may beunavailable due to the 12-voltbattery charge level, the eAssistbattery charge level, powercapability, or an issue with theeAssist system. In these cases, thedisplay will not be available becauseof the power issue, or the DIC willdisplay JUMP START DISABLED.
  5. Yes - definitely good - not sure they are worth the price ($7-800?). When we had gotten to an impasse in negotiating the deal, we agreed to buy the car if they would throw in the clear bra for free - we didn't realize they cost that much, and I'm not sure the Sales Dept. did either, since it is something usually sold by the F & I person you talk to after you agree to buy with the Sales peeps.
  6. I commented recently to my wife that the cargo capacity of the C-Max is deceiving - deceivingly small under the cargo cover. You do gain a little by folding it up or removing it, or a lot more by folding down the seats. Our lifetime average is 45+ MPG - I would not mind getting a little less (>40 MPG?) in a larger version of the C-Max...which I think is pretty close to what the Escape is. The C-Max is actually the wife's car - I drive a 2012 Buick Lacrosse - it is a mild hybrid. It is a larger and more luxurious, quieter, smoother riding vehicle than the C-Max, but it get's only 35+ MPG. When we drove from Phoenix to San Diego (1,000 miles total round trip) for the weekend a couple months ago, we took the Buick...sure we squandered a few extra dollars on gas, but I think it is a better lengthy road trip car. For around town driving, the C-Max can't be beat. And for driving up to our weekend place in the AZ mountains, the C-Max is better on the curvy roads and has more _alls going up the long steep grades. Also, with the CVT, the transmission does not hunt like the Buick.
  7. Figured it out - my friend was using Engage - I normally like Empower. Max EV output on Empower is 2 bars, but by switching to Engage, with the accelerator pedal unchanged, the EV readout jumps to 2 1/2+ bars...not sure the reasoning for changing scales between MyView screens, but that is the explanation for what I saw
  8. Oh - I have heard this a few weeks ago - only once in 16 months. No problems starting the car the next day...or any other day
  9. The initial post was a little disturbing, but I learned a lot of possibly useful info about the car in the responses, so thanks all for that.
  10. Our CMax replaced our 2005 Lincoln LS - that thing was awesome for fit/finish/squeaks when it was new, and it was still perfect 8 years later. Our CMax is OK for interior quality, fit and finish, but already much more squeeky/rattly than the Lincoln or my 2012 Buick LaCrosse
  11. That is correct, Frank, but thank you for your input also, Jus. I will have to re-read what hybridbear wrote - I think that might be something to look into
  12. Our 2013 Hybrid has always had a maximum electric output of about 2 bars, or 2KW, before the gasoline engine kicks in, even when the battery is fully charged. I was recently in a friends 2013 hybrid and he seems to have a maximum of 2 1/2 to maybe 3 bars. What do others see? Do you think I might need a software update? I think the last one we had installed was the one that allows EV mode over 62MPH...maybe last Summer?
  13. My vote for the hum goes for wheel bearings, that could have been damaged when you ran over that pedestrian and blew out tires and wrecked the rims. Does the sound vary if you turn to the right or left? Usually, a bad bearing will be louder when it is under more load. If the sound gets louder when you turn right, the problem is on the left, and vice-versa
  14. I think Paul is referring to http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB8QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fcmaxhybridowners.com%2F&ei=X8zFU-_HMMe6oQS-04DoBQ&usg=AFQjCNHJlRSK0kgqQmzaWkDVsfIhKSdIqQ&sig2=eYjJe5IfpduaUR_n8D9C-g&bvm=bv.71126742,d.cGU&cad=rja I don't know if I've ever been over there before, and there doesn't seem to be a lot of traffice, but he is correct, it does bear an uncanny resemblance...so what is up with that?
  15. Subies have a great reputation, but I don't know if I would ever go back to a non-hybrid car. I always try for a 100% energy recaptured score when braking, but sometimes I have to jam on the brakes to stop for a red light and only 40 or 50% of the energy is recaptured. I bum out, but then make myself feel better that even 40% is 100% better than the 0% I used to get on my non-hybrid car. Subaru does have a hybrid Crosstrek...but I think I read that it gets only marginally better gas mileage than the non-hybrid version.
  16. I think an electrical problem, like a fuse or relay or switch, is likely, but please let us know what you learn- thx.
  17. Thank you for your reply. Is your check engine light on also?
  18. Frank - I had a friend who lived in Pittsford - a nice section of Rochester to live in!
  19. Our first inclination was the Blue Candy, but then we decided it looked like a more sporty and less expensive car than it...so we decided to go with the Ruby Red, but then the wife said it looked too maroon-y...so it was the Black Pearl, but the dealer that had that didn't give us what we wanted for our trade in, so we found another dealer that had a White Platinum and gave us what we wanted for the trade and charged us less for the car in White Platinum, which is an extra cost color, than the other dealer wanted for the Black one...so we ended up with White Platinum...a very practical color here in the AZ desert, due to the intense sun and also the dust.
  20. CEL went on over the weekend - still on today - engineering test mode shows the subject codes as history, but I can't find them anywhere on the internet to learn what they car. The car runs and sounds normal. We did the "check fuel inlet" message a couple times recently, but not now not for the past week or so. Anyone else see these codes or know what they mean?
  21. That sucks, but were you really surprised by their response? My father was shopping for a car 30 years ago - was looking at a Mercury Marquis advertised for $9.999.00 - he told the salesman he wanted to wait until the next week in case there were any Washington's Birthday sales. He was told there would be no reduction on that car. Sure enough, the exact same car was advertised for $50 less a few days after my father paid $9,999. He asked for and was just as successful as you in getting a refund for the difference. Frankly, there may be some validity to what they told you - if the sale price of the car was $500 less, ir could be that they would offer you $500 less for trade in
  22. The C-Max is my wife's car - my car is a 2012 Buick LaCrosse. I don't know about the Encore, but I can tell you that compared to the LaCrosse, the C-Max is a couple levels lower on the refinement and quality of materials (inside and out) scale. The C-Max is fine for what it is, but it is definitely a "Ford"...a Lincoln version might be nice. That said, I just filled up the C-Max today, and spent $34. Considering that we are getting exactly double the MPG of the car the C-Max replaced (Lincoln LS), that means we saved $34...actually more than that, because the LS ran on Premium. PS our lifetime MPG after >12K miles is 45 MPG, and that's with lots of (actually, probably mostly) highway use, and we are totally satisfied with that
  23. Like: Lots of things, but if I have to pick 1, I say FE (45 MPG lifetime over 12K miles) Dislike: Harsh/bumpy ride when going over speedbumps/railroad tracks/potholes. If the pavement is smooth, the ride is very good and controlled
