  1. I had my C Max Se for just about one year and never had a "dead Battery" issue. I brought my car into a Massachusetts dealer for 13BIZ and oil change on a Friday, two days latter on Sunday my battery was dead. No dome light, no gauges, no electric locks, not able to shift car so I jump start easier. If this is the fix for a problem I never had until after I had the fix thank you very much FORD.
  2. 2013 Ruby Red C Max Hybrid been driving over one year in Massachusetts with no starting problems. Last Friday (April 25th, 2014) I went in for the latest reprogram stated to turn off itme in car and wham, Sunday my C Max would not start. Car was totally dead, no dome light, no instrument cluster, no door locks, couldn't even shift to neutral for the jump....I did not know about this posting but felt like a dead battery. I jumped the car with a friend and since then has worked fine but going in Saturday with your poll. I didn't realize there is an actual 12V battery to start the vehicle, my battery gauge showed 80%, it is crazy they cannot use this to start car in emergency. Also, not user friendly that the shift level will not allow you to shift into neutral.
  3. I just brought (April 25th, 2014) my 2013 ruby red Ford C Max Hybrid SE into a Massachusetts Ford Dealer for 10,000 mile oil change and recall requiring reprogram. I was running errands in the car next day in pouring rain and it ran fine. The next morning (April 27th) I went out to car to start it and there was no power with the key. None of the gauges lit when door opened, dome light did not work, locks did not work, etc.. I could not even move transmission lever. It was like battery was totally dead. A friend came by and actually jump started the vehicle and the engine started. This has never happened to me in over a year of ownership prior to the Ford Dealer reprogramming last Friday. It is very disturbing that the vehicle would do this and then not even being able to shift into neutral to move the vehicle. My original thought was that it would have to have been something with a high power draw to discharge the hybrid battery. I did run the electric hatch opener with the car parked and used the button to close the hatch. Once started the battery gauge for the hybrid indicated it was over 80% full and have not had any problems in two days of driving.
  4. You have all been very helpful! At 170 miles the Average MPG number in the Empower display is up to 32.4. Still getting use to the "Touch" to achieve higher numbers, I start slowing down so early that when my vehicle stops sometimes it does not even give me a score. Definitely not a tailgater in the slow lane or slamming on brakes at Red Lights. John
  5. Thank you for the responses very helpful! So message is wait for more tankfuls to see what happens. The trip readout is showing about 43MPG thanks for the tip makes me feel a little better. My trip is about 15 miles 40% city and 60% highway with ECO Cruise set at 60. This is the same commute with the Honda FIT reported numbers. Does anyone know the method Ford uses to calculate these different MPGs? I use the "Empower" screen and the method of calculation escapes me with the low reading I am getting after resetting the Lifetime. John
  6. Yes 85% brake score still learning terminology after three days of ownership. The Honda FIT was a manual transmission, lighter alloy wheels in summer, and aftermarket cold air intake. I wanted a larger more comfortable car with Cmax. So no one knows why it started at 8MPG after lifetime reset...up to 28.3MPG today at 180 miles. Just trying to determine if I need to take itin to dealer. John
  7. I just picked up my C-Max Hybrid from a Ford Dealer in Massachusetts on April 29th. The car was on the show room floor with the battery disconnected which after reading the manual told me why windows and other items were not working properly without reprogramming. I had reset my lifetime mileage cause I didn't want all the demo rides on my first tank of gas. Well..... when I did that the average MPG went down to 8MPG and after about 80 miles driven (still first tank) I am showing 26MPG....trust me I am playing the leaves game with 85% Regen Average and EV driving as much as I can. Has anyone seen this behavior or is this common for the first tank of gas after a "Lifetime" reset? I drove a Honda FIT on this commute before and averaged 41MPG with my summer tires on and calculated after each fill up. Would drop to around 37 in winter with four winter tires.
