Hey all! I recently purchased a 2013 Cmax SE ice storm about a month ago with about 52,700 miles on it, one owner with a completely clear carfax. After researching between it, the prius, and a few of the tdi vehicles over a couple months I decided on the Cmax in a single afternoon upon sitting in both the Cmax and a prius they had on the lot. The difference for me was night and day! Anyhow, I've put 2100 miles on it so far. Love how it drives. Comfortable and QUIET! But, I have only been able to manage low 30's mpg. The best I've managed has been 36 mpg. From what's been posted around, it seems like I may need to get the software updated??? Is there anywhere that I can check to see what or when the updates have been done? Also, I live in south central Kansas, moderate to no hills, avg winds of 12-30 mph, and I live out in the country about 20 miles to the nearest town so most of my commute is on a rural two lane black top with nearly no traffic. I have also been lurking around and reading just about every post on the site that catches my eye and might have some potentially good information. Joined up after purchase, made it official!! lol Here's what I've got so far: - 25 mile one way trip to work: depending on the route: all 25 miles at approx 60 mph; or 12 miles at 60 mph, ~4-6 miles at 65-68 mph, ~2-3 miles at 30 (cruise set in town where traffic allows) with maybe only two stoplights catching me, last ~4-7 miles at 65-68 mph - EV+ & ECO cruise always - No less than 89 octane gas, ethanol free (had that stuff rot a motorcycle fuel tank on me one winter) - Outside temp: coldest was mid 40's warmest mid 80's since I've bought the car - HVAC set to auto and usually have the A/C off and temp settings in the mid 70's - Tire pressure at 42 psi - VERY easy/gentle accelerations where traffic allows, typically no more than a two bar acceleration - Great brake score as well as looooooooooong coasting to stops (again where traffic allows) - Idk what weight oil is in the engine & tires were brand new prior to purchase - I'm still getting the hang of the pulse and glide technique Before i figured out how to reset the 'Lifetime Summary' I used the Trip 2 odometer as my personnal lifetime one (I'll try and thow a picture of that in). And it seemed the previous owner only managed a 34 mpg average over their 2.25 years of having the car. I've taken it on a few 1 hour road trips but most of my miles have been of the work commute variety. The dealership where I bought the car is almost 2 hours away, so a quick swing by there to chat is a little more difficult than I would like. Plus I had the "explained more to the salesman than he knew about the car" kind of experience. And I am unsure of my local ford dealership's proficiency with a vehicle crammed with this much tech, at least where the software upgrades are concerned. To be fair, I have yet to make it in to talk to their service department. Haven't had a day off work since purchase. Any tips, questions, or "hey dummy do this" stratgies?? Thanks all for your time and also for any help!! ---tymerTHEcheezGUY

Hi All! After a whirlwind week of test driving cars, we finally decided to trade-in my 2010 Mazda Miata for the 2015 C-Max SEL with the 302A package. It won't be here until Thursday, so I have a few days to read up on how I am supposed to change my driving style. I'm anxious to hear what all you veterans out there have to say. How can I get the best MPG? How does this handle in the winter...like the Miata? (Best in the garage?) i'm so excited! Thanks in advance.

I have had my 2015 SE for almost 2 weeks now and am loving it. I never really considered a hybrid before I test drove the C-Max but that short trip sold me. My daily commute is mostly highway miles but I am already doing 47 MPG. I can't wait until it's broken in. I have already read some of this forum and look forward to reading more. Thanks in advance for your postings.

My wife and I got our new C-Max Hybrid SEL on 30 August, after researching online ever since we test drove one at a Drive for Your School in the spring. We had wanted to drive something that we wouldn't actually be interested in. Then we couldn't stop thinking about it. I've always had something sporty, even a couple of muscle cars, but was ready for something new and with better fuel economy after my 2004 Sunfire started averaging a couple hundred a month for repairs. The C-Max is our first SUV type car but satisfies our desire for a touch of luxury and a kick of sporty. And now I'm old enough that I want to be comfortable, too! Mine -- ours ;) -- is Sterling Gray Metallic with the panorama roof. I'd have never wanted that roof, but it was on the lot with everything else that I -- we ;) -- wanted. I look forward to the information a forum community can share!

I just became a proud new owner of an Ingot Silver C-Max 202A on 8/10/2013. Oddly enough I was not aware of the C-Max before Tuesday of last week. That day I dropped in to Ford of Orange, CA to get some info about the Fusion Hybrid. When I saw the small trunk space I knew the Fusion was not an option. By luck, while waiting for the salesman I noticed the hatchback hybrid on the showroom floor. Once he showed me the features and I had time to research it I realized this is the car I was looking for. My daily commute is 60+ miles round trip and gas was killing me. When I saw the estimated 47 MPG of the Ford hybrids I was hooked. Now that I am onboard I look forward to the savings in fuel economy. Glad to be in the Ford family after 9 happy years as a Chevy driver. I loved my Malibu Maxx, but they have nothing to match what Ford is offering right now.

ok, Actually I'm from NY/NJ, and just moved here less than a month ago. After using mass transit in NJ for the last 10 years, my new TX 42 mile commute, usually with sections of bumper to bumper traffic, I decided I could use a hybrid. Lots of debate between the C-Max, and the fusion, but I just couldn't justify not having decent trunk space. Especially if we were going use it to take a weekend road trip to explore this big new state. So after a few weeks hunting one down, I'm now the (so-far) happy owner of a 13' platinum white SEL with medium light stone interior with the 303a, and the pano roof. There were a few options I could have done without, but since I was borrowing an 06' accord to get to work, I figured I could pay for some extra goodies. On the first drive into work, I was very happy that I only used .8 gallons!!!!! And I'm new to hybrid driving. Also there seem to be a lot of BIG pickups here not happy with me using eco cruise to keep her at 62 so I can make that vine look like kudzu. The Mrs enjoys driving this thing so much (and wants an auto lift-gate for her next car) except for my work commute we have to call dibs on the car instead of the mini-van. I guess my only disappointment so far is not having a spare. personally I'd rather jack up the car, and get rolling again, but then I'd have the trunk of the fusion. ;)

I have been driving my new Cmax sel since December 31. I have put almost 800 miles on it and have yet to see better than 35mpg. Not much better than my 2009 Toyota Venza. (32mpg average)I feel cheated and lured in by misleading claims. I only bought this vehicle because I am a hospice nurse and I drive most of the day, sometimes up to 260 miles a day, so fuel economy makes or breaks me. If I would have know I would have had to take a course just to learn how to get the mileage it advertised I would have by passed it all together. I didn't purchase it for its looks or because it was fun to drive! If I told my patients I was giving them 4 mg of morphine and I only gave them 2mg I would lose my license and my job, more importantly , their trust, like Ford just lost mine. I live in Florida so it's mostly flat and doesn't get too cold so these are a non issue as far as driving conditions and temperatures.
