mightydog
I am hoping that they have leather interior, I know in some of the smaller cars it is not an option. However just because I am buying a smaller car does not mean that I dont want it decked out!!!
LukeC
I totally agree. Nothing beats the smell of a new car with a leather interior. Hopefully that will be an option
kam
Leather is easy to clean but sometimes it does not handle the wear and tear as well. At leas this is my experience with it.
LukeC
It needs quite a bit more care than a normal cloth interior, that is for sure
kam
Exactly. Out here in the desert if you don't keep up on conditioning it all the time it will start to crack pretty fast. Just too dry.
LukeC
Not to mention that it will burn your buns after a few hours out in the parking lot in the middle of August.
kam
True, unless they offer the cooled seat like they do on some models. Anyone know if that will be available on this model?
LukeC
Ford is usually pretty good with that sort of thing. I will have to see if there is a list of available options.
kam
I love the cooled seats. It makes it so nice for the triple digit summers we have here.
jeff_h
The options are now on Ford's site, looks like leather seats on the SEL model, which is great that it's offered.
jack
Leather is great if you have pets because the hair won't stick as easily. I like cloth due to the baking sun!
ZOOM
Heated Leather seats are standard on the SEL.
Laurel
I ordered the SEL with stone leather colour. I see mention of them being heated, but no mention of the cooling feature. Also, there doesn't appear to be a memory feature for different driver seat positions. I wonder if the SEL has the automatic head lamps? They must have the auto head lamps in Canada and some states require them for rental cars.
SavinginNM
The seats do not have cooling or memory. They do have automatic headlights that come on a dusk or in a dark garage but do not have daylight running lights.
ctford
Has anybody noticed that the leather seats are not entirely leather? The side of the seat next to the center console is made of some type of spandex stretchy material. I feel jipped!

Go look at any other Fords, or any other brand, and you find most, if not all "leather seats", are not all leather. That is why the manufactures advertise "Leather Seating Surfaces" or in the case of the C-MAX SEL "Leather Trim" is specified on the Window Sticker. jmckinley
They use non leather on the sides of the seats because leather is expensive and really doesn't work well there where there is a lot of flexing. It's been that way on most everything for 20 years or so. Datsun got in trouble for this back in the eighties on the 280Z and lost a class action suit because they didn't say "leather seating areas" in their publications. Had to pay off a bunch of owners. Since then, you'll see the disclaimer posted in all written material regarding leather seating by all OEMs.
jmckinley
After reading the posts about Spandex seat material on the console side, I got in my wife's Mazda Tribute yesterday (really a Ford Escape, just different badge) and discovered it has the Spandex too. We've had this car ten years and never noticed it.
Jus-A-CMax
+1 on that. Coming from a Jaguar Vanden Plas, this is a nice option for my new C-Max, glad I got this instead of the cloth. Now I get to maintain the leather using the Jag leather cleaner and conditioner, super nice stuff.
LukeC
I hadn't given it much thought but now that I recall, the spandex sides seem to be pretty common. How often do you condition your seats, Jus-A-CMax?

How often do you condition your seats, Jus-A-CMax? Every 6 months. As the seats are tan color and my wife drives it to the stable, the dirt shows up more on her Vanden Plas (we have 2). The stuff I use is Connolly leather cleaner and then I use the Connolly Hide Care to finish it off.
cbharvest
I got Ford aftermarket leather seats on an SE. They do not have spandex on the sides. They are leather. Maybe they're nicer than the ones that come on the SEL. Didn't cost that much because I didn't have to get other options that I didn't want.
