General Question about C-max Hybrid

I've only heard of like one battery pack that has seriously failed so far. . Having said that if the car is 10 years old and has say 150k mi on it you might need to expect to spend at least $5k within the next 5 years to replace the pack.

There are some Prius cars with 10+ years and at least 200k mi that failing but those packs are NiMH .. the C-MAX was one of the first hybrids to use lithium ion packs so it's still a bit of a guess as to how long they will last. Batteries kept in the same environment as humans will last longer. Battery sitting outside in the AZ sun or used as a taxi, not so much ..

I have a 2013 C-max (not energi)  It rolled over 333,000 miles today.  Original Battery Pack with no issues. [knock on wood].  This car did get a new transmission at 108,000m miles.  It was making a bad bearing noise.  Independent shop said it was a transmission bearing.  Ford Dealer Service later confirmed this.  I had been hearing the noise since about 97,000 miles but thought it was a wheel bearing.  By the time I figured it out, the hybrid component warranty was over.  I went a few rounds with Ford and they eventually agreed to pay for $700 of the repair.  Still cost me nearly $6000.

For the last 40,000 miles or so, the car has been making a whining sound when the gas engine kicks on and seems to be loudest from 20 to 45 MPH.  Dealer has again told me this needs a new transmission and said it will be $7000.  Since the noise is not effecting driveability and the car has so many miles.  I decided to just keep driving for the time being.  Please let me know if anyone has a simpler fix for this.  I probable should change the transmission fluid, but I have not done this yet.
