Gourockian
Thanks for the welcome. I'm not completely new to the Hybrid scene and have had approximately 6 years driving my 2008 Prius, along with some experience of working on its HV battery. I still have it but have also just bought a 2014 C-Max Energi, with 83,500 miles. I'll post elsewhere about an issue I've noticed and as it came As-Is, I can't really go back to the dealer about it. Regards, Al
Chillwawa
Hello all! I just bought a used 2017 Cmax energi titanium and am so glad to find this forum. I live in the Bay Area About 10 miles from San Francisco. I’ll look forward to diving into this forum and welcome any direct links to other useful forums and particular favorite posts about driving efficiently and charging strategies. I rent ny home which is a back unit far away from the street so I don’t have direct access to charge at home. I May ask a neighbor if I can park by them and run an extension cord to plug in at night. And I will be getting strategic in ny errands and recreation so to tie in to places where I can charge publicly. I am seeking to drive as efficiently as possible - a friend showed me his drive log - he is getting ok average 90+ miles to the gallon and sometimes more! Two other sticking points before I can let go and fall in love with my car - it doesn’t have the power lift gate which I regret sacrificing with this vehicle and just last night noticed it doesn’t have the Navigation system. Wondering if that is worth the effort to put in after market? I can use google maps from my phone but wonder how more beneficial that will be mot having to be on wifi to use it. That’s all for now. My sparkly deep blue Energi and I wish you a wonderful day! ????? takingittothemax and Mike G

honkbeep
Hello! I've been a reader of this forum and driver of C-maxes for some time now, and I figured it's time to join. Me and my dad work on salvage auction projects together. In 2019 he won a 2008 Escape Hybrid that wasn't running and driving for cheap. With a new 12V battery, he got it started. Now we've bought 5 Escape hybrids and 5 C-maxes total! Some were parts cars and unfinished projects, but we provided some good prices to family and friends. I have a 2013 301A, and my sister has a 2014 302A. C-max number 5 was just added to the family today, and it's one we've been waiting for to appear on the auction for months. It's a gray 2016 Energi SEL 301A (501A?) with 31k miles. https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetail/PS~34812728~US~01182023?tenant=US while the link is still live, but here's a photo for posterity: It's likely going to be shipped from Billings after which we'll be able to take a look. Upper radiator supports and hood are damaged but that looks to be the main casualty. Even the bumper cover looks to be untouched! This is Energi #2 and our first car that will have the 'good' transmission and Sync 3. The hope is that with low miles it could easily go to my mother and stay in the family for 10+ years. jzchen and stolenmoment
cmac2012
Howdy all. My sister has had her 2015 C Max Hybrid for a little over a year and in recent weeks has been asking me for advice on a few issues. I have worked on my various vehicles for years, I’m hoping to either fix her car or steer her in the right direction.
seiko
Hi, i was looking for a hybrid car in the summer of 2022 and ended up getting a used 2013 ford c-max sel. I really like the car even if it came with some problems. Was missing one of the rear hatch arms and i had the power drain issue happen multiple times. That's the way it is meant to be. In a Hybrid the electric side is there to help the ICE side. It's not going to run electric all the time and will swap one mode for the other as it sees fit. You should be able to hit about 16km/l if you just drive (at least that's about what I get in my 2015). I find that for me on an average trip 1/4 to 1/3 is on electric power. A Plug in Hybrid is the same, but with more electric (still only about 40-60km at most). It'll run electric when it can but will still switch to ICE as needed. There is a plug in C-Max but you loose about 20cm in depth for the cargo area as the battery is bigger. You would be on electric a lot more as most people drive under 60km on an average day. From what I understand, it'll fully recharge overnight. The closest full electric to a C-Max is the Chevrolet Bolt EUV. I parked next to one and they are almost identical in size. It looks like a good car. Edited August 11, 2023 by David McC TuyenVancouver
Loooney2ns
Hi everyone. I am a new C-Max energi owner. Picked up a fully loaded 2013 all black today. I have a level 2 charger on my house,so I'm all ready. As a long time Ford parts manager, I'm very familiar with them, and looked for about 6 months to find just what I wanted. One owner, 115k miles, selling dealer serviced from new. The transmission waa changed at 49k under warranty with the updated unit. I can't wait to start modifying it! takingittothemax, Mike G, stolenmoment and 1 other
Bill-N
Welcome. I'm sure you can be a big help to the rest of us, especially as parts get harder to find. Cheers. Edited July 8 by Bill-N Loooney2ns

Loooney2ns
18 inch wheels, tint, and probably black out everything I can. I would like to put on Focus ST wheels, badges, and seats. The car is black inside and out. I would like to find a way to use an ST or RS spoiler, but I don't think it's possible because they mount differently. Bardiferously
Hey hey hey! New as an owner as of April 12th, with Helen, my 2015 Platinum Energi. I have charged up to 21 miles but usually it is 19 - and recently 17 & 18. I was looking for an economical driver and Consumer Reports directed me to the C-Max for the best value between $10-15K. With mostly all EV around Baltimore and regular longer drives most weekends, I'm getting about 700+ range per tank. And Helen's evaluation of my braking has, I think, positively affected my driving style. Sometimes my Ford charger's red light is flashing before I unplug (charged, as the 4-way LEDs are off) in the morning and not sure how to avoid that. Actually, it was charging for a few hours last night and the red charger light was flashing but the Energi's 4-way LED was flashing on the 3rd (lower left) LED. I unplugged the charger for a minute and then plugged it back in after that. Anyhow, I am enjoying Helen, she's taking pretty good care of me. Glad to find yinz here and will post my technical questions (including the one above) in the appropriate forum!
