New cmax
I have a 2014 C-max hybrid.. the car is new to me and it’s had its quirks thurs far. Lately within the last few months it’s made loud noises while running the hvac and it’s seems to be from the silver part next to the engine? I don’t know enough about it to be 100%. cr08
Sounds like the AC compressor. They are normally noisy/buzzy in these vehicles especially under high load/high outdoor temps. If your AC works fine, I wouldn't sweat it (pun intended).
Noah Harbinger
Yeah, when I first got mine (new), I was surprised at how loud it sounds. I think there are two main reasons it sounds different: One, because it's driven by a small electric motor; two, because unlike an ICE engine we hear it running when the motor is off. But I do still think it is louder than most hybrid ACs are.
