Front sensors "beep" sometimes in light rain

Anyone else note that when in a light rain and you are stopped at stop light or stop sign, that the front park assist sensors (the higher pitched ones) will beep at you?  Same roads and stops and traffic conditions don't trigger it when it isn't raining, so it certainly has something to do with the rain.  I suspect either a sensor's internal or wiring is getting wet and I'll have a problem soon, or perhaps it is sensing that I am too close to that particular rain drop/mud splash that is on the outside of the sensor, and thus it is alarming/beeping to warn me?  I don't know, so I thought I'd ask around here.

I have had the same thing happen and I can't give a good reason for the beep, but I believe those sensorsare not activated until speed is <5 miles/hour. Perhaps there was a little creeping, I just don't know.

But I have had the sesor beep in the winter when the sensors are covered by snow/slush while driving. Come to a stop and they beep and they stay beeping until you start to move.

After a few stops I got out to clear the bumpers off. I used to only have to get out if my wipers weren't clearing the windshield.

 

I now know about the sensor disable and i will use it this winter.

I too have used the sensor disable to stop the beeping when it is being annoying.  It definitely is when I am stopped and while creeping (of course 0 mph is less than 5, so I think whether creeping very slow or stopped might not make a difference--they are effectively proximity sensors). 

 

Of course they also beep when at the drive through window and you are close so you can pay/get food, sensing the building is too close, rain or shine. 

 

They work great all other times, and I like having them, but they can be a little annoying at times.

I've had this happen multiple times while at a stop or in traffic and cars shouldn't be close enough to set them off.  The dedicated disable button is great.

 

I've had this happen in clear weather with no rain.

Sometimes, mine go off from what I am guessing is road debris.  As soon as the wind blows them off of the sensor, the beep stops.

 

It's one heck of a surprise, when it happens.  :kookie:

I had this happen this morning, it freaked me out.

I had this happen a few times and was freaked out about what it was. After finally finding it in the manual, I was relieved to learn it's likely a water drop on the sensor, which makes it think it's too close to something. Now that I know what it is, I don't freak out when it occasionally happens.

I live in Oregon. Lots of rain. Happens fairly often. I clean the sensors off mainly the front bumpers. This fixes it tillmthe next time
