Temporary Mobility Kit

Haven't used it before, but yesterday I figured I'd check the pressure and top off if needed - set it up to air and as soon as I hit power, it blew the 20 amp fuse. Per the manual, the car was on, running in EV because the HV was around 50% and the 12V battery was 13.2 from the Scangauge. Btw it was dry outside and the kit looks ok. Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe it's gone bad somehow? It's not that good to use in an emergency if it blows fuses too... seems like the draw from it is too much for the 12V outlet. I didn't try again given the hassle that accompanies the task of replacing fuses :)

2 things

1. Have you ever used the 12v power point before? It could be bad, NOT likely

2. A certain amount of tire mobility kits WILL BE defective from the factory, you should have your dealer check it.

Now it's time for me to go check ours, it's never been out of the car.

I`d suggest getting a late model Ford Taurus or Ford Escort 16`` Emergency Spare (donut) and buy a Campbell-Haufeld RPO650 12 Volt Tire Inflator on Amazon.com for $12.91 while they still have them.  Its a small mini Tire Inflator that has a built in (cooling fan) and it won`t blow the 12 V fuse.  Its been discontinued so you better hurry and purchase one while they are still available.

Thanks! I think a trip to the dealer is in order. I've used that 12v point before for the GoPro and the cellphone (before I realized there was another in the armrest..) so figure it's ok. As you say, it may just be a bad one. Will ask if I can test mine out on one of their cars first and when the replacement comes in, test it on one of theirs again ;) Our passenger fuse panel is such a PIA...
