CarpeNivem
I just ran out of washer fluid the other day, without any notification whatsoever from the vehicle that I was running low. One pull of the stalk, and washer fluid sprayed with gusto. Another pull, it was weak. Two or three more pulls, and nothing. Not a drop. I was never notified the fluid was low prior to this, nor was I notified it was empty after this (not that I really needed to be, as it was pretty obvious now, but if I had received a warning I was low, I never would've let myself run out!) Now, this can only mean one of two things.... - Either, my "low washer fluid" sensor doesn't work, and so I should get that fixed. - Or, this car just doesn't have one, which seems ridiculous. Does anyone know for sure?
Zathrus
CarpeNivem, Unfortunately, the CMax does not have a low washer fluid indicator. See following post for more disussion on this topic: http://fordcmaxhybridforum.com/topic/3158-washer-fluid-leaking/ I agree that not having one in any vehicle is ridiculous...especially one as technologically advanced as the CMax. fotomoto
I check it when I check my oil level.
ptjones
I wonder if there is an rear reservoir? I will have pull the manual out and see. Just checked it out and there only one reservoir. :) Paul Edited February 25, 2014 by ptjones
CarpeNivem
Well that's just silly. Come on, Ford! Because of this, I had to stop at the nearest gas station, and over-pay for crappy generic fluid (because I couldn't go without, not in the weather that day) instead of going to an auto parts store and paying a fair price for Rain-X brand fluid. This isn't a particularly awful problem (but being far from a gas station would've been though!) but it still sucks. I guess I might have to consider carrying a small (well sealed!) bottle of spare fluid in the car somewhere. :sigh: Ridiculous. hybridbear
666
also, the washer fluid tank is very small. i have once empty and it only allowed me to fill up about a bottle of fluid ~3.78L. compare to my last car, i can fill up one and a half bottle which is about ~6L. The Camry Hybrid does warn you. Our old Honda Accord Hybrid didn't. Our previous Saabs and my 2000 Chrysler did. Chryslers used to have a low windshield washer fluid light on the dash as a standard feature even on their cheapest cars. We keep an unopened (unbroken seal) bottle of windshield washer fluid in each car now so that if you ever run out while driving you just have to stop and refill. I had to stop once and do this while driving. Generally I try to check and top off the fluid every few weeks in each car to prevent us from running out ever. BIG ROCCO
Yeah - very weird there is no low level sensor for this. My last car not to have a low washer fluid sensor was a 1981 Pontiac. I also find it very strange that: Oil life is monitored, but does not displayTire pressure is monitored, but does not display
ScubaDadMiami
Honestly, this is the kind of thing I never even bothered to consider in looking for a new car, because it would never occur to me that any car on the market does not have one. Duh!

Duh! I also assumed my 24 thousand dollar C-Max was going to have a spare tire, and I assumed it would have a locking gas cap. I also assumed that my cell phone would work with bluetooth and the rear tires would not wear like someone forgot to design the car right and the 12 volt battery would not go dead 4 times for mysterious reasons. ( BTW, Ford fixed the dead battery thing which never was a problem with 2014s and newer. ) Edited October 31, 2017 by obob
