Automatic Door Locks

Has anybody found a way to turn off the automatic door locks?  It drives me crazy and wife is extremely annoyed by it.

Like a lot of things in the Owner's Manual, the procedure they describe is wrong and doesn't work.  Clearly cut and pasted from a different car's manual.

If anyone has a 2014 car or even a late 2013 I'm wondering if the procedure has been corrected in the Owner's Manual

Updated owners manuals are available online.  I believe the third "printing" is the latest.

Checked the new printing of the Owner's Manual and the procedure was basically the same.

Enabling or Disabling Autolock and Autounlock
Note: Your authorized dealer can perform this procedure, or you can do the procedure yourself.
To enable or disable these features, do the following:
Note: You will have 30 seconds to complete the procedure.
1. Switch the ignition on.
2. Press the power door unlock button three times.
3. Switch the ignition off.
4. Press the power door unlock button three times.
5. Switch the ignition on. The horn will chirp indicating the programming
mode has been entered.
Autolock: Press the power door unlock control, then the lock control.
The horn will chirp once if autolock was disabled or twice (one short and
one long chirp) if autolock was enabled.
Autounlock: Press the power door lock control, then the unlock control.
The horn will chirp once if autounlock was disabled or twice (one short
and one long chirp) if autounlock was enabled.
6. Switch the ignition off. The horn will chirp once to confirm the
procedure is complete.
Note: The autounlock feature can be enabled or disabled independently
of the autolock feature.

So I went back to the car and started experimenting.

I finally got it disabled.  The trick is to not put your foot on the brake.  Just hit the start button where it says "Switch the ignition on (or off)". Then it works. Damn.

When you get somewhere, your passenger is annoyed because her door won't unlock and she can't get out.

My wife has one of those friends.

I finally convinced her that all she had to do was pull the door handle twice and the door would open.
