C-MaxJaxon Posted November 3, 2012 Report Share Posted November 3, 2012 I noticed that the front passenger door of my car has the "HYBRID" and leaf/road badging, just like on the hatch, but the driver side door doesn't have anything. I noticed my hood had a gap on the drivers side but it touches on the passenger side at the top. My Passat had numerous problems on delivery. They had to replace the entire dashboard due to dings and uneven finish. The whole front lower front bumper paint had to be redone. My Passat was delivered to me two weeks after I paid for it. Maybe the C-MAX logo on the sides (like the hatch has) would look slightly sporty and advertise the model name. But I'll probably have the dealer replace it on the driver side door in the interest of restoring the vehicle to proper factory condition. Seriously, if you'd rather have it off, have them remove the passenger one too. In Europe and other places, one can order a new Mercedes or BMW delivered without the model number on the trunk ... why?... those with lower horsepower engines don't want others to know they didn't buy a super powerful engine and those with higher horsepower engines want to be in stealth-mode. I think having the hybrid emblem on the side of vehicles originated with Toyota, as that is where they put that logo beginning in 2004 with the Gen II Prius. Chinto Posted November 5, 2012 Report Share Posted November 5, 2012 I would suggest that you examine the door for any signs of repair. Even take it to a body shop for analysis. Several years ago I bought a brand new Jeep Grand Cherokee. After the first year I noticed that the paint on the rear fender was different than the rest of the car. I took it to the dealer and asked why and was told that I did not wax it enough. Later took it to a body shop and was told that it was repainted and that the 4x4 badge was missing. I had never noticed that the 4x4 badge was missing from day one. Went back to the dealer demanding an explanation which brought in a Chrysler factory rep. Long story short. Somewhere my Jeep was damaged and poorly repaired and the missing 4x4 badge was the only proof that it occurred somewhere between leaving the factory and received by the dealer. My Jeep's fender was ultimately repainted and turned out fine. All I am suggesting here is consider why might the HYBRID badge be missing? Did they forget to put it on at the factory? I doubt it. Was the door damaged and repaired by the transport hauler that you paid $800 for? Maybe? You won't know until the paint fades, peels or rusts. I would get this on the service record just in case. The dealer thinks it was damaged and repaired at the factory. They want to repaint it in their body shop with a higher quality job. Why does this kind of crap happen to me? CassidyB Posted November 8, 2012 Report Share Posted November 8, 2012 The fit/finish isn't that great on mine.. My front left quarter and driver door was not even close to being aligned.. Long Lewis in Birmingham said it wasn't aligned but probably within allowable Ford guidelines.. Took it back to Ford of Franklin TN and they fixed it.. I still have clear tape over drainage wholes.. It sounds like the dealer is trying to make things right... but it sucks to know that there was damage to your brand new car before you even touched it. Good luck. If you feel like checking, two other items on mine that were missed in pre-delivery inspection:1. Clear protective film covering the word Hybrid on the plastic engine cover.2.
