markd
Yesterday we were driving from Indianapolis to Michigan City when we stopped for a restroom break about 30 miles from our destination the nav wouldn't work. I tried everything including shutting off the car three times. When we were leaving to come home it came back up and worked fine. Has anyone else had this happen? fbov
Yep! Mine did that for months. I finally got it to malfunction for the dealer. Been fine since. The repair order lists: TSB14-0037 R/R GPSM
markd
Thanks I'll give them that when I take it in.
fbov
In general, I find it better to display ignorance when dropping a car off for service. Let them do their job, but when they're done... you know what to look for. It's possible we have different problems with similar symptoms.Frank
markd
I figure that I'll wait and see if it happens again before I do anything.
Topeka79
Hello. Does the GPS wants you about heavy traffic ahead or car accidents and recalculate the route? I've had my cmax a couple weeks and haven't been able to make this work.... Or I don't know if it's possible. Btw, in planning to buy the updates SD card to have the most recent version of the maps, but that's useless if it doesn't let you know what's ahead in the road
markd
The traffic updates come through Sirius XM.

OTOH, there are a lot of complaints that the traffic information is not accurate or updates too slowly.

So if it comes thru Sirius, what happens if I'm listening to music from my IPhone but I have the Nav/Map guiding me to somewhere, will I stil get the updates even if I'm using Sirius at that moment? And if by example,an route is closed, will the gps offer a new route? Thanks !!!
markd
Yes, they still come up on the screen. Topeka79

And if by example,an route is closed, will the gps offer a new route? Thanks !!! As markd stated, you will still get the traffic updates, even if the "Entertainment" is completely off, it knows to grab traffic if you are using Navigation. I suppose I should add the caveat that this is only in large cities, you can see the list of covered cities here. As I mentioned on another thread, you also need to subscribe to Sirius Traffic -- if you are currently using Sirius make sure traffic is enabled on your account. If you don't have Sirius, you should be able to get a free trial that will include both traffic and POI information. When you get a traffic alert, it will put a pop up on the screen telling you basics of the traffic issue (accident, blocked lane, etc.) and have three buttons: Details, Avoid, and Ignore. While fairly obvious, Details will give more information; Avoid will recalculate your route, changing the route if another is now faster; and Ignore will keep you on your current routing despite the delay.
