MSmith1915
Installed the front and rear mudflaps on my C-Max SEL today. The front mudflaps required one hole to be drilled in the plastic wheel well material and the rear mudflap required one new hole in the wheel well material and underneath on the bumper material. The instructions are for both the US and European C-Max. FOE is European and FNA is North American. Rear Mudflap Front Mudflap As a side note, the pictures show a diagram for jacking up the front and rear wheel: Front jack point. Hybrid dude
I've resisted installing mud flaps because the ones on my previous car, a Volvo, were cracked and broken from innumerable scrapes and bumps on curbs, snow, etc. However, after several highway drives in snow/sleet/rain, the hatch is really filthy, way more than than I would have expected. So, my question to those who've installed mud flaps and encountered those weather conditions, is whether their hatch remains relatively clean? Monk
What did they cost through Ford?
plus 3 golfer
What did they cost through Ford? The exterior protection package option includes mud flaps and the rear bumper protection (clear strip on bumper below hatch) for $245 dealer installed ($218 invoice). Someone posted they had the dealer install the clear bumper strip for $75 for the strip +$40 installation. That might mean the mud flaps installed would be $130. CNCGeek
Seems like these would be a common after market item, but I did not see any that looked as nice on Ebay. Thanks for the pics, they look really good.
cgul
I bought a cargo mat here for $72.45. They have two kinds of mudflaps, the molded is what we are looking at here. They are 40.24 per set (front or back) plus shipping. I think I might order a set. http://www.lombardfordaccessories.com/categories/Ford_Car_Accessories/C-MAX/Exterior.cfm?CFID=19387670&CFTOKEN=93704155
PWBarrett
I also noticed the back / hatch area collect a lot more road grime than I expected. If anybody has experienced this, then installed the mud flaps and seen it appreciably reduced, please let us know.
MSmith1915
I have noticed a lot more road grime accumulating on the back of the C-Max than my Ford Escape. I don't think the mud flaps will prevent this. I think the grime is more a function of the aerodynamics of the car, ie there is more negative pressure on the back of the car which causes road grime to get sucked up onto the back of the car. I agree, plus there is not enough body overhang behind the rear wheels for the mud flaps to make much difference. For that reason I only bought the front set. Arthur
I installed both front and rear, they do a good job, Ford product, but bought off a cut rate Ford dealer for 82.00And I bought an after market rear bumper stainless steel plate for 45.00 found both on a search on net. wab
Mud flaps were the last thing on our negotiating list. Salesman said "My cost but I wont install them" but let me check with my boss.He came back and said " I think I've been in there to many times, he said NO MUD FLAPS!"I laughed and said in that case I guess we have a deal. wab
emccabe
I have Ford mud flaps on the front and rear of my C-Max and I also have them on the front and rear of my Toyota RAV4. The back of both vehicles get very dirty due to the low pressure area created behind the car on a vehicle of that body style.
cmax-nynj
Do the mudflaps work well for keeping the painted body panels behind each wheel clean? Edited April 5, 2014 by cmax-nynj
