  1. Got the engine block heater, but not the cable, ordered it and should have Friday. It would have been a lot chear to go with a KAT block heater but I was worried about it being a press fit with the high Water pressure. Ford is a screw in one. :) Paul
  2. I might order one if I thought it actually improved MPG's, hopefully I can get around to tuff testing in a few weeks. :) It will be interesting to see how it turns out for you. Paul
  3. It appears that my car is one effected by recall and I set up an appointment online. It will be interesting to see how this goes, the Dealer didn't even know about the recall and I thought FORD hadn't come up with a solution yet. I'm not interested in a class action suit, I like my car. To me it seems like FORD isn't trying to hide anything which good. I don't have any problems with my seats. :) Thanks Ashley for the link. Paul
  4. I was thinking of using your present form as a pattern and make a mold off of it with urethane foam and then layup the CF in the mold. I was thinking you could get a nice finish that way. I'm no expert just a idea. Maybe someone on the forum has some experience. :) Paul
  5. Found this on FFH forum posted by jeff_h Looks like most of us would be affected by this - SUBJECT: DEMONSTRATION / DELIVERY HOLD Advance Notice - Compliance Recall 14C03 Certain 2013-2014 Model Year C-MAX, Escape, Fusion, and MKZ Vehicles Front Seat Back Frame Replacement AFFECTED VEHICLES Vehicle Model Year Assembly Plant Build Date Range C-MAX 2013-2014 Michigan July 23, 2012 through May 28, 2013 Escape 2013-2014 Louisville June 5, 2012 through August 12, 2013 Fusion/MKZ 2013-2014 Hermosillo August 15, 2012 through September 10, 2013 Affected vehicles are identified in OASIS. In addition, for a list of vehicles assigned to your dealership, visit https://web.fsavinli...rconnection.com. This information will be available on April 3, 2014. REASON FOR THIS COMPLIANCE RECALL Certain front driver and passenger seatback assemblies may have been produced with sub-standard weld joints attaching the seatback recliner mechanism to the seatback frame. A sub-standard recliner to seatback frame weld joint may separate and the operator may notice noise in the seatback or a loose or leaning seatback. Sub-standard recliner to seatback welds may also not meet the requirements of S4.2 of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 207, potentially increasing the risk of injury in certain collisions. SERVICE ACTION DO NOT DEMONSTRATE OR DELIVER any of the affected vehicles involved in this compliance recall. It is anticipated that a complete Dealer Bulletin will be provided to dealers in the second quarter of 2014, once parts to repair this condition are available. NOTE: Parts are currently not available in sufficient quantities to support this compliance recall. In the interim period, if a vehicle arrives at your dealership with a front seatback that exhibits a loose or leaning condition or for dealer stock vehicles with a customer sales contract, please contact the Special Service Support Center. CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION Owners of record will be notified via first-class mail after repair instructions and parts ordering information have been provided to dealers. Paul Thought I'd move this info to this thread.
  6. I agree, but when I started this thread I miss recall under maintenance and I don't know how to move it. I guess I may need to start a new one. :) Paul
  7. It will be interesting to see their solution for this problem. I would guess the effected welds are probable less than 1%, still a lot of cars but I don't know anyone has complained on this forum. Gee Jus you were rear ended how is your seat? :) Paul
  8. Today I watched WT closely and I got to 128*F in less than a 1/4mile. Conditions were I turned on oil pan heater 3hrs before leaving, garage temp 68* and WT and IT were 80* keeping in mind that temp sensor is at the top of the engine and oil pan heater is at the bottom. Outside temp was 50*F. So it looks like that I should be able to get to 128*F in a hour with the combination of block and oil pan heaters. Time would increase with lower outside temps. :) Paul
  9. It would probably come down to how dead the battery was I guess. I have a 18Ahr portable jumper battery just in case. My voltage this morning was 11.4v, I wonder how low it has to get before it won't start? :) Paul
  10. What about using glass filament tape to hold it together? It has smooth surface to make mold from. :) Paul
  11. I would agree with you if this was a design flaw, but it sounds like a manufacturing welding quality control problem and FORD may not even make the seats. Most of us haven't had any significant problems with our CMAX's. Personally I don't think software updates count, our personal computers are being updated all the time, that a way of life these days. Given the GM problems, I think FORD is being very careful not have something like that happen to them. IMO It will be interesting to see the solution they come up with for this problem. It may be difficult to tell if a weld is bad or not. :) Paul
  12. How much is that the weather? How long have you had your CMAX and miles? :) Paul

  14. Another SE, WOW. Just replaced battery in jumper batt. unit so I'm some what ready and remembered that I have a key in my fob to get in the car with and open the hood. Mine is SEL with 52k and 18months. Just got me thinking, I wonder how many AHr battery you would need to jump the car since you don't have to start the starter with it. It would be neat to have small 12v batt. that you could put in you door to quickly jump the car.IMO :) Paul Paul
  15. That's a shame , the first Styrofoam was looking pretty good. :) Paul
  16. Mike are you doing this for the entertainment factor, you are doing a great job. LOL :) Paul
  17. PM Ashley Our FORD Rep with your info and I bet she can help. :) Paul
  18. Is there a difference in the part#? Has anyone tested one yet? :) Paul
  19. There is a transfer fee so the warranty stays with car for what's left and I think it is 8yrs/100k mi.Hybrid stuff and I got my whole warranty extended to 4yrs/100k from 3yrs/36k. :) Paul
  20. The FORD ICE Block Heater uses 400W and my oil pan heater uses 150W, so I will need to do some testing to see how much of a rise in block temp I get in 30min, 1hr, 2hr and 3hrs. :) Paul
  21. Right! LOL And when they get back to Lima they will have to turn back around to get their oil changed.LOL At least they will be getting alot better MPG's. LOL :drop: :shift: Paul
  22. I would think it is a pretty long drive to get their truck worked on. LOL :lol2:  :shift: Paul
  23. Craze with your concern I would suggest going with an SEL to minimize the risk and carry jumper battery. Then you don't have anything to worry about. IMO :) Paul
